His vocals are bad, other bass/guitarists who sing at the same time as Max Cavalera, Mille Petrozza, Tom Araya and Tom Angelrriper who do not have a great voice nor are very good singers who destroy Mustaine, it's just a matter of working a little voice and have technique , something that Mustaine never had or tried to achieve since he concentrated more on guitar than on singing. What I'm sure of is that, technically and in complexity, Megadeth is better than Metallica, but Dave's voice is always going to make me tilt for Metallica. for me, the only albums in which Dave's voice fit with Megadeth were the first 2, then it began to get worse and then I got to what we know today as the mickey mouse voice syndrome. If Mustaine had ever taken singing lessons to improve his shitty vocals, I'm sure they would have beaten Metallica.
"Metal Militia" was primarily written by Mustaine even though writing credits were given to Hetfield and Ulrich. It is one of Metallica's fastest songs and the namesake for the band as well as a series of Metallica tribute albums. The song describes Metallica as the Metal Militia taking on the world with their heavy metal. As the militia, Metallica is trying to get the message out.
On paper it's the best line up. In reality, I don't think so. Dave fit early Metallica, when they played small clubs. Dave doesn't do what Kirk does on MOP. It's not Dave's style. All his good melodies are in his song writing, not so much his lead guitar playing. But who knows, if Dave was just a dedicated guitar player and didnt have to sing, he may have been a different player. But God, I cannot imagine a world without Megadeth. They are my favorite band. Kirk fits Metallica. Jason fit Metallica. Besides, there is only room for one alpha in Metallica. I can't imagine Cliff, Dave and James long term. James needs musical control and so does Dave. I love that we got two bands I love out of that line up.

This shows why Dave couldn't stay in Metallica. Even with not singing, his stage presence is much more commanding than Kirk's (not even mentioning his musicianship). And with already two big ego's in the band (James en Lars) Dave one of the three had to go.

Mustaine's solo wasn't that bad its just played live not studio lol. Lets not forget these guys are 50 as well. I'm 45 and play thrash still it takes me 25 mins to properly warm up not like 2 min when I was 21. Can I still play as fast as I did with out screwing up, nope.

If you watch Metallica early 80's footage, they often zoomed at Mustaine most of the time, obviously that wont work well with James.
