Jason is my all time favorite Metallica member. That voice, his no nonsense style and the impression that all he ever cared about was putting out some good music are what I admire about him.
Basically when Jason sings Trujillo is not heard at all, that is one hell of a powerful voice

Jason played like he had naturally done with Metallica and it shows how much of Metallica he influenced. Jason was the soul of Metallica during his time.
Rob is great bassist, but thats not enough. Jason is the whole package, he is a good bassplayer (very underrated) and 100x cooler live. They are tighter when he played with them, and he is a perfect vocal fit for James. Metallica havn't sounded this good since 2000. Tobad he left, I really want him back.

Can't we appreciate this for what it is? Metallica's 30th Anniversary show in which they brought back someone who was involved with Metallica during a high point in their career. Not "Jason's better" or "Rob's better", just appreciate it for the raw heavy metal that it is

I think Rob is a pretty decent bass player (though I think his stage presence with the whole crab monkey thing is fucking stupid) but holy fucking shit, does Jason blow him out of the damn water, there at 3:45 Jason totally drowns out Rob and is so much better at backing vocals, in Metallicas live shows now you can barley hear Rob half the time...dammit Metallica you had the best bassist you could get after Cliff why did you have to treat him like shit!
Actually playing a musical instrument with proficiency is a complex thing..At that level, the instrument becomes a tool of musical expression..I love his style and I think this is best for metal: a matter of 'musical expression'. For instance, I enjoy listening to some Metallica songs only when Jason Newsted plays..Otherwise they all sound dry to me..
As a bass player Rob is better than Jason. As vocalist he is horrible and Jason makes Hetfield sound a lot thicker, which is needed now more than ever with Hetfields voice obviously being not what it use to be.
JoshDownUnder I'm also a bass player. I think Jason is the better bassist of the two. He is way more of a rytm player and he is a perfect fit for Lars. They play way to fast nowdays. Cliff and Rob are very technical players but they are also sloppy players who miss alot. Jason is 100% dead on in every song. And he can actually sing.

Man it feels great to see Jason on stage with James, Kirk and Lars again! Dont get me wrong, I love my boy Rob Trujillo and he plays badass too but I grew up Listening to Jason with Metallica since Justice For All and Black Album when Metallica was a its peak and they became Monsters of Rock. I wish Jason never had left the band but I know he had his reasons to leave because they always fucked with him like a scapegoat since Cliff's death but he finally got tired of their shit and left. I just wish none of that ever happened and he would still be playing with METALLICA.
