This is a Reserve Regiment, The Honourable Artillery Company and they are "part-time soldiers". It has a long and proud history and can confuse some people who think they are members of one of the Guard's regiments.

@RelationalDatabase-us7fr Their name comes from a 16th Century interpretation of the word' artillery' ie. literally anything thrown such as grenades or archery. The HAC don't exclusively work with the Airborne forces.
Watching from South Africa, the discipline, order, respect and the way they carry themselves is so heart warming and a pleasure to watch. They show immense pride in what they are doing. What they are doing, is everything that lacks in South African defense and police force. Here they can not even be on time, how on earth will they be able to keep up with the beat of the drums. England must be so proud❤

I think this is the HAC, the Honourable Artillery Company, the oldest unit in the British Army, dating back to the 16th Century, and is part of the Army Reserve, so part-time soldiers, not regulars.
The UK is proud, soldiers from England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland 👍

A lot of people, tourists, forget that the Guards they see protecting the Royal family are some of the best trained fighting soldiers in the world.

All new people coming into the UK or Europe below the age of 40 should be vetted and do 5 years national service perhaps then they might respect the culture of which country they choose to live. Well done to all the legal armed forces who gave laid down their lives for our freedom and way of life.

@@luckysticks Well, they think it was foreigners firstly, particularly the ones who are a different color to them. Then people who practice religions differing from the one they may (or may not in reality) prescribe to. And then those with a differing political ideology.
Ain't nothing mighty about this ,look back to any parade ten years ago it'll be so much larger.Very sad the once mighty British army is a shadow of itself and I don't blame youngsters for not joining, they've seen ex veterans homeless after serving and those who come here illegally get all the help going .

Our military is a shadow of what it was 30 years ago , and a fraction of what it was 30 years before that , we can put a good ceremonial parade on , ....for the tourists.......but as a military power ?????, defence cuts , " options for change " and the like , have left us living on memories of of the past ,

Ah, memories of standing in parade formation waiting to move out and wishing I could come up with some reason to have a ruptured achilles tendon. That said, I am quite the fan of the British Commonwealth forces. So many great moments from history.

Only full-set beards allowed, must be between 2.5 and 25.5mm in length, trimmed at cheekbones and chin, not patchy or uneven, no,exaggerated colours, neat and properly groomed, will be regularly checked and may be required to be shaved around the seal of a respirator if chemical or biological weapons are to be used.
RAF allowed beards in 2019, Royal Marines still prohibits them.
Follows decisions by Denmark, Belgium and Germany to allow beards.

Lotta short guardsmen in there - I thought there was a height limit.
Not for decades, except the King’s company who are all over 6ft tall.
Height is not an issue to a trained soldier.
@ no one suggested it was an issue, but there was height rules back in the 1950s. A friend of mine was a guards man and the minimum height for that was either 5’ 10” or 6” 0”
I believe it was for Guards, but 5' 6" min for the rest...I can only quote Army. There were many comments made about this but I see most are taken off, including mine.@

I thought that the Royal Navy was the only branch of the Defence force that could grow a beard. Seems soldiers can as well, is this a new development or a;ways been the case ? Looking great on parade 👏👏👏👏
In Victorian times it was perfectly acceptable to have huge beards in the army. Then gas masks came, and they were forbidden, although moustaches that ended level with the end of the top lip were permitted. Recently (ish) short, neat beards were allowed again, along with other relaxations (I believe it was to encourage hipsters to join😂)

In my day, Sargents in the Pioneer Platoon of an Infantry Battalion had a beard which was traditional. On such parades they wore a type of butchers apron and carried an axe that had blade that had been highly polished.
