    Saw the original band make up back 15 years ago in Camden Arena on the water front and just danced all night. These men and Bob Seger are two shows I am glad I never missed.

    I was glad to see Kevin get into his rocker voice which is very rare. I think these other musicians put the emotion in him this night! Such a great band, definitely appreciate them now that I am older.

      This version freaked me out when I saw it the first time. Leonid and Friends kind of play Chicago better than Chicago a lot now! With REO the thing that blows me away is what good guys they stayed. Without being overtly Christian Kevin and band always kept the music clean. In fact the one album he was not on , they had girls in leather cat suits or something. I read an interview with him when Rap came out and he said-"If my kids want to listen to that trash they have to buy it with their own money. I'll never buy it for them". So he always had integrity. Not easy to maintain in the Luciferian Music Industry! He made them so much money with all those ballads that the guys can handle too, they had to let him be who he is.. I got to see them at least 4-5 times, always super positive energy good guys, old and new band.

      No. He did NOT get into a rocker voice. He got into a "smarmy, swingin' cover band vocalist and his four piece band playing at the local Holiday Inn Lounge" voice.

    Not the same without Gary Richrath. He was the heart and soul of REO Speedwagon.

    AWFUL cover of a great song. At least sing something close to the melody for more than a note or two.
    The best part of the original version - the version that REO played for years - was the droning sustain between the piano and rhythm guitars amps and the ringing B-3 sounds, and of course, Richrath's bluesy midwestern cranked up guitar solos.
    This was the Branson version of the tune.
    Please - never do this again.

      You are the first crab-ass to complain EVER about this fabulous version. REO is fine, Chicago is the one a bit sappy. They are all old guys. Richrath was never outstanding in any way, almost the weakest guitar player to ever play in a major band. WTH does 'bluesy midwestern cranked up guitar solos.' mean? No guitarists are known to be good from the Midwest? Even all the old Chicago blues guys came from down south. Everyone likes that the horns were in here. Every Party has a poop...

      @@SigMendelsson Stop it man! Even great bands like Santana and singers like Coverdale/Plant/Hagar can't do what they did young. The important thing was the horns. Kevin does fine for an old guy. And the B-3 was great (Brian Auger is still the best at 84 or something).The guitar players are generic, no doubt but Richrath was never special? At all...

    • @SigMendelsson
      @SigMendelsson 7 месяцев назад

      @@jesusheals2 - did you ever see REO live? Richrath was melodic, inventive, and often soaring. Far from a pentatonic-dependent soloist, his solos fit each passage uniquely. The closest stylistically to him? Mark Farner, Mick Box, Brian May …
      Also, I’ve heard Cronin sing this song since this performance and he did fine - REO still renders that song very close to the original. This was not that.
      I didn’t mind the horns. I play trombone and Pankow is a favorite. They did great here. The B-3 was too far in the background and the drone of the piano and rhythm guitars were nearly non-existent - and were defining characteristics of the original.
      It was a Branson rendition - one that should be quickly forgotten.

      @@SigMendelsson I hate Brian May's weird tone. I hate EVH (though Queen and Van Halen have great songs) too-but 'Starfleet Project' is a fabulous album. I saw all the old great bands just about so Gary was fine for the music and real good but not any kind of amazingly good player compared to about 20 others in great bands. I saw Farner solo-later GF without him. He was better and they were 'dark' Now I know why. The great thing for me about REO is they rose above and stayed above the Evil of the music industry. 2 of the best never really hit it big-Frank Marino and Pat Travers. The Industry is Satanic. Nashville is Satanic. You know who is phenomenal? Steve Stevens!! Have you heard his wild solo stuff? These are old guys up there. They did fine to me but you are right about the Power being missing. To me, horns make almost any band sound great and back-up ladies singing too. You know who has that Fire? Leonid and Friends!!!
