If you don't allow yourself time to get to know the true "secret person of the heart", you rob yourself of the opportunity to choose wisely, and your happiness can be affected. In the case of those who would try to use you, you force them to put in a huge effort to provide you with credibility. Over time, if you are observant, their true nature will become obvious. It is only possible for people to imagine themselves in love over a 24 hr period because they are relying on what they see with their eyes (lust) and the self reporting of what people believe others want to hear about them as a list of their best qualities. Time will prove which qualities were real, and which ones were feigned, which is why those relationships start off quickly and then "fizzle out".
The wit, mystery and struggle were fun. The 12 hr love bomb and proposal not so much. Just a bit of restraint could have made the romance more realistic but no less interesting.
