Robin, I shake my head. How in the world did I come up with this fun idea? Maybe it's due to my 20 years in the middle school classroom? 😄 Thanks for listening and for the kind encouragement!
As a fan of Pride and prejudice I really liked this and found the way it was written, and the narration, highly enjoyable. I even warmed, half way through , to the awful two main main characters finding them(weirdly) amusing and quite endearing. Will be adding this to my book collection.
Hi, Veronica, I wrote this one for an anthology collection, and I wondered if readers would enjoy it -- because it isn't a Darcy and Elizabeth romance. 😄The story turned out so better than I envisioned. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Charming. A witty take on “Taming of the Shrew” and very well done Laura. I love the way Walter turned Darcy and the Colonels arguments back on them. Although given the way Lady Catherine also goes through money I wonder how long it will be before Rosings needs to be Let out.
Hahahaha, Shelley, you are so right. Money does make their world go round. I'm wondering our Lady Catherine she responded to his request for the garden statues of themselves. Sir Walter would need to use all his charm to pull that offl 😄
I'd say "Poor Lady Catherine" except, no, we don't feel sorry for her at all. We know already that she is fond of flattery, and now she has an even more experienced (and extremely handsome) flatterer. 😄 I'm glad you enjoyed this story, Sophia. Thanks for listening!
Oh. My. Goodness! How unexpectedly delightful! Although I almost didn't listen because I have an aversion to Sir Walter. Your treatment of him and this outrageous alliance was scary but fun. What a life they'll have!! 😂
Hi, Karen, Sir Walter is woven throughout my Mercy's Embrace Trilogy, so he is no stranger to me. But once this story idea bubbled up, I simply had to write it. Thanks for listening and sharing! ❤
Thanks for listening, Patricia. Sir Walter and Lady Catherine; who would have thought it? I did, apparently. 😄 I blame my job teaching middle schoolers . . .
What a great story. Sir Walter had cheek and charm and is a great character..would love to know he softens Kate over time. Wonderful piece to listen to very humourous and clean
Sorry about the short length, Jil. 😃 You are not alone in wanting more. This was written for an anthology, so it couldn't be too long. Thanks for listening!
Hi, Mitzi. Thank you for encouraging me! This story has been surprisingly popular here on RUclips. You wonderful listeners are breathing life into all kinds of ideas! Now to finish the school year so I can begin writing them. Have a lovely weekend! 🌻
That was one of the best spin-offs of Jane Austen's works. You took 2of her least likeable characters and made a work that made me chuckle from the beginning to the end. Just the thought of lady Catherine and Sir Walter marrying is beyond funny. I'm glad I'm also glad that Anne Debough ended up marrying George Fits William as I've always felt she was such a sad character. All-in-all a brilliant story 👍👍👍
Priscilla, I'm so happy to hear this. It seems to me -- although I could be wrong -- that RUclips listeners embrace stories that feature a variety of Jane Austen characters. Thanks for listening!
@@LauraHileAudiobooks I'm a writer too and characters do tend to run away with a story! I love when they make me laugh out loud doing something I never imagined for them.
Dear Rowan, thanks for the props. I have to wonder how I can write these two so effortlessly. Dear oh dear, am I a hopeless snob? Yes, probably. 😄 I'm glad you enjoyed this story.
I should add that I made Sir Walter a lot smarter than he was in Persuasion. This made his "confrontation" by Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam too much fun.
Aren't these two a hoot? I had no idea when I began writing that they would have so much in common. They have a decent chance of happiness -- as long as the money supply holds. 🤣

Hi, Miss Judy, Aren't these two a hoot? I'm glad you enjoyed this story, even if you did come to it unwillingly. 😄 Your fun comment has me smiling . . .
@@LauraHileAudiobooks seriously great idea for a book and a really fun story. I wish it would have gone on and on telling of their marriage and honeymoon!
Wouldn't that be a hoot? This story was written for an anthology collection (A Very Austen Valentine), so length was a consideration. Thanks for the props!
Why do l question this author? Another wonder story that l consider cannon. 😂. I wish the next book was a mix of the stories going foward. Maybe explaining Mary and how we met her clerk. Ann could be in it. And Fanny. Lol.
Which are the other two books in the Sir Walter trilogy and is there a story, either in one of those ,or in the offing ,which will tell us what happens with Anne and Fitz?
Hi, Veronica, My stories are "variations," meaning that they use Jane Austen characters in various setups, instead of being series books. I don't yet have a story for Anne and Colonel Fitzwilliam. That sounds like it could be a fun idea. "Mercy's Embrace" is based on Jane Austen's Persuasion. It's Elizabeth Elliot's story (with her sisters Anne and Mary woven in), and Sir Walter Elliot serves as both villian (being so self-absorbed) and comic relief. I made him a lot smarter in "Siri Walter Takes a Wife." 😄 Due to length, the original publisher split "Mercy's Embrace" into three volumes. When I later took back the rights and published it myself, I combined all three into a eBook box set. www.amazon.com/stores/Laura-Hile/author/B003UT6VDS These books are also available on Kindle Unlimited, as individual eBooks, and as paperbacks. At an estimated 23 finished hours, an audiobook edition for "Mercy's Embrace" is on the backest of back burners. 😄 I hope this answers your questions. Thanks for listening!
Fun, right? Sir Walter Elliot weaves through my Mercy's Embrace trilogy, and I had too much fun crafting a story around him. "It's about time," was his only response. 🤣
Hi, Frances, As an independent author, I am limited to using staged photos for covers. I looked and looked for an older Regency couple. This is the best I could do. Sir Walter would be pleased with his image, don't you think? 😀 Thanks for listening!
