    Took me a while to really get into depop but now it’s basically the only place I shop! What I tend to do is search for specific items or brands, and then look through the items that come up from the search and also follow shops where those items are from. I don’t know if that helps, but for me I don’t really scroll depop’s main page (of the shops I follow), I tend to search for specific items/brands and then like the ones I kinda want to keep my eye on, and save the ones I would actually buy so I have a buying Wishlist I can always refer back to. Definitely stick with it and keep searching for stuff! :) for me, it’s great bc it’s a way to sometimes buy stuff from fast fashion brands but without buying it from the brand themselves, and I’m taking it off someone who doesn’t want to wear it anymore so I feel like it’s slightly less bad. Nowadays if I see something on ASOS or Topshop etc I’m now in the habit of not buying from them at all and seeing if someone on depop is selling the exact same thing or something super similar or even better! Hope this wasn’t too ramble-y and hope this helps! (Also I suggest you messaging the seller asking for more info on the item before buying it, like you can ask for dimensions, quality of the fabric etc and I also try to bundle items for a better price or just sometimes straight up ask if their price is negotiable! Ok I’m done 😊)

    this summer i cleared out my wardrobe and was super honest with myself about things i actually liked, wore, and felt comfortable with. I thrifted and filled in the gaps for things that I needed/wanted, but only if the it was ABSOLUTELY what i wanted and felt comfortable in and would actually wear. Now, I find myself being able to put together outfits that i love so easily everyday and i haven’t boughten a new piece of clothing since i cleared out my wardrobe. i feel like i dont need anything because i already own it or i have something similar! life is great in the fashion department rn.

    I've had vegan Dr Martens for nearly a year and a half (not the same model, I got the 1461 in black), I've worn them A LOT and they still look and feel really good, they will definitely last for a very long time, for anyone wondering. (Also, I barely had to break them in, compared to the real leather 1460 ones I've had before, they were really comfy from the beginning, might be just because of my feet but thought it was worth mentioning)

      I have the 1460 for a year now. I have worn them so often and I’m wearing them nearly daily now that temperature went down. But they are still so uncomfortable and I would get blisters if I didn’t wear two pairs of socks 😭 and they are definitely the right size. I have some not vegan ones and no problem with them. I don’t know why

    The Vegan docs have GREAT life span! I’ve had mine since 2012 and they are still going strong. I’ve got two scuff marks and worn down some the sole, but that’s fine for shoes that have gone hiking, been used for everyday wear, and worn during 13 hour event work. I probably won’t repurchase for another 2 or so years.

      That jumper sounds great but few people have the opportunity to get such a sweater. It would probably wouldn't be appropriate for professional outfits and you can't just wear one sweater all the time. I feel personally comfortable getting a few items in the best (ethical) quality that I can afford so my clothes last longer and I won't need too purchase new ones next season. A new wardrobe isn't needed every season, individual style is much more interesting than on trend anyway. With planning and layering then far fewer items are needed. This is not capsule, it is my clothes collection. And fast fashion is not a slow transition, it is a buying choice. Long lasting is still having clothes from a decade ago and just wearing them in a different way. Being creative is fun!

    • @sheilastark733
      @sheilastark733 5 лет назад +4

      @Nicole I most definitely don't speak from a point of privilege, that is why I still wear much of the same clothes as I did a decade ago. I couldn't afford to spend that much on clothes in a year, fast fashion or not. I do think zero waste is pretty much impossible but changing where you buy stuff isn't difficult. Just don't go to the fast fashion shops. I buy and spend very little but make wise, good quality, ethical choices when I do. To hammer the privilege point home I am unable to work because of chronic health problems but chose not to get benefits so others in more need can, as my husband earns just enough for us to get by with nothing left at the end of the month.

    I want to buy more sustainable clothing, but I have to be honest, the comments on this video are really discouraging. Buying natural fabrics is far better for the environment than synthetic fabrics like polyester, which don't break down and can release microplastics into waterways when they are washed. Half the people complaining about wool and cashmere have either never visited a farm or have no real understanding about how textiles have been made throughout human history. It is not inherently cruel to animals to obtain wool or cashmere, and I'd rather have a high quailty item than one that doesn't last more than two years.

    As cute as the jumpsuit is, what is that material?? It is so loud! Either that or the microphone is sensitive.

    i mean my depop is depop.com/angelicfruitcake ;) but idk its hard to recommend you people as most shops are inconsistent and/or very high fashion oriented for some reason, you've kind of just got to search for things you like and slowly build up a profile for depop to recommend you stuff. the search section (like on instagram) is very useful to finding stuff and quickly tuning your personalised recommendations on the homepage. just be aware that the recommendations for some reason don't tune to your location so it comes up with stuff from all over. pro tip, if you're really desperately looking for something on depop make sure you try different search terms because people don't always know the details or specs of what they're selling and so won't be specific. also not sure which shops to recommend you that are actually consistent because while i love your style i tend to go for more goth style stuff and find the autumnal style items like you've shown in h&m etc D;

      I took a look at the website but I’m not a fan of the 3/4 length sleeves! Their dungarees are always in the back of my mind though

    Hey - a friend and I mend, wash and sell vintage clothes on Depop, and profits go to a women's centre in Coventry. We're called My Big Sister's Wardrobe and are on Depop here: www.depop.com/mbswardrobe. Any support at this early stage much appreciated! Meg xx
