If you pay attention you can see the guy at multiple stages in this game. You see him right before you pull into the gas station by the bushes, you see him leaving your car before you exit the gas station building, you can see him leave your room after you go get the desk worker, and you can see him go behind the building by the coffee machine. Same with the first game, it all about paying attention to your surroundings.
@@JoesWho there arent time stamps for them. matt missed them because his camera was turned away. there are playthroughs with them visible though, because those things happen in game for us to see
For me the scariest part is that our character passes out on their bed, when they wake up there's a weird creep in their closet, and the manager says they've been making loads of weird noises while passed out. If they're implying what I think they're implying, then that's truly horrifying.
Hitchhiker: How do you know I'm not a serial killer? The suspicious driver dressed in purple: *Glances over*: Well, the chances of there being two serial killers in the car at once is... astronomical.
@@strelitziamystery21 while driving: "y'know the diner 'Freddy Fazbear's Pizza'? 's a great place for children... I uhh- recommend it if you, uh have kids."
BTW, for those of you who are wondering: (spoilers for what happens at the end) MatPat couldn't see it because he was too far back in the closet, but basically Joe jumped the creep who broke into your hotel room and knocked him out
The MatPat solution to being in a horror situation: Scarf down mountains of snack foods for maximum sprint speed, even while both hands are already carrying something
This is the type of trip that goes against every trip rule I was taught. Don't travel at night. Don't take unreliable transportation. Don't go through uncharted/rural/unknown areas alone. Always plan your route and your lodgings, and have some back ups if possible. Trust no one. Young ladies in the 80s and 90s were especially brought up with these lessons.
Pretty sure that's why they emphasized the traffic jam, if she took a totally different route last minute all of her plans would have gone out the window. Though I would take traveling at night surrounded by cars on all sides over some road in the middle of nowhere any day.
Young ladies were also taught if anything happened to them it was their fault, even if they followed all of that. Idk maybe it shouldn't be the responsibility of the victim to not get attacked.
@@rdarkstorm8414 You're right... to an extent. No, some jerk shouldn't feel entitled to mess with or harm whoever they choose, but that doesn't exempt the victim from making smart decisions either. Just like OP said, have reliable transportation, plan your route, etc. Common sense has to be considered your responsibility at some point.
@@ZarniwoopIII except as someone who follows all the rules and was a victim, it's almost like it's not the fault of the victim. Also, having reliable transportation isn't financially viable for everyone. Because I can't afford a car, it's my fault? Because I trusted someone I was supposed to be able to trust?
It’s really interesting seeing the difference between men and women playing this game. Because men are like “they want my money and my stuff!” And women are like. “Whelp. Guess I’m about to get trafficked.”
Because men tend to be the victims of physical violence where they're robbed more often, and women tend to be victims of trafficking more often. Makes sense to think that you're being robbed then as a man.
I never worry about getting trafficked because I'm a guy but you're supposed to be playing as a 19 year old girl I don't understand how they don't realise that
@@aubrisfox yeah... it's sad for the women to have a fear based on something that happens to women every single day everywhere in *much*, and i mean MUCH higher quantities than men. sooo paranoid of them ugh so irrational right?
Am I the only one that thinks Matt was oblivious to the fact that this was a 19 year old female traveling on her own, and has had to interact with a bunch of strange men? This episode has given me have a deeper understanding of the fears women have while traveling alone.
The situation in this game would be a nightmare come true for most women honestly. I’m afraid walking my dog alone at night, I couldn’t even imagine being by myself in an unfamiliar area in a situation where my safety depends on whether or not someone wants to hurt or help me.
@@jayrose2933 A lot of people in other comments have also pointed out that while Holly was drugged and passed out, and we know there was a person in her closet, the neighbors reported her making weird noises.
I was barely convinced he recognized these were true stories. I definitely hesitate to believe he took it seriously in the way you're asking. He moreso put himself in the situation, and that's fine... But I do think he missed the observations you mentioned.
I think he understands the implication but it's a sensitive topic, so it wouldn't surprise me if he willfully avoided directing to much attention to it
@@ShadowPhoenix82 but the story is very cliche scary, travelling at night to an unknown place without anyone else, having multiple issues along the trip like fuel running out and having no signal when the car breaks down :/ as a 19 year old myself from Sweden who have been out camping countless of times this sounds too absurd for it to be real. But maybe 19 year olds from the US dont think so far ahead 🤷🏿♂️
Fun fact-I watched multiple play this game but only watching matpat did I realize i used to own the exact episode playing in the game cuz he’s the only one I saw show enough of it
I came to the comments specifically for this information. MatPat released the episode, so I assumed that was the case. I know Batman and Superman as characters hit the public domain recently which is why they were both mentioned in Eternals, but I wasn't sure about the cartoon shorts. Thanks.
@@justinmartin4407 That's not how that works. The characters of Batman and Superman are NOT in the public domain because they are still being used in regular publication. Simply referencing them is something anybody can do, but you can't legally USE them without permission. The Fleischer Superman cartoons are a special case where the copyright to the shorts has expired because the studio that made them no longer existed to renew the copyright, but the characters still belong to DC. There are plenty of Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny shorts in the public domain but both of those characters are still copyrighted.
Things that MatPat missed: the guy leaving the main character’s car for his own at the gas station. The guy moving the coffee machine. At the very end, the manager/desk guy walking in, hiding behind the doorframe, and then stopping the creeper.
How does MatPat always seem to miss the very important thing that he _should_ be looking at? He outsmarts himself, the game, and all of us “typical” gamers 😂
"Guys, i'm not gonna move because I don't want the sound to give us away" >Microphone is clearly linked to YOU and how loud YOU'RE talking, not the ingame character
You were in a bad perspective far back in the closet. If you just stayed around the center of the closet, you can see that the manager actually just saved your life by knocking the attacker out.
I had to sorta hitchhike when I was a little kid. My dad had his issues and told me to ‘get lost’ after my bike tire deflated on a ride to the store and I had issues pushing it along. I was 6 and took him literally. I just left him. I got lost, and was pretty terrified. I remember passing by houses wanting to ring the bell asking for help, but being taught ‘stranger danger’ made me afraid to. I ended up seeing a lady put her kids in the car and I felt safe enough to go up to her and ask for help. Figured she was a mom and wouldn’t hurt me. Fortunately, she was very kind and took me home. I’m just fortunate a creep didn’t try and jump on the opportunity to hurt a vulnerable kid.
@@jojol.2630 let’s just say, to this day (over two decades later), he still says he’s not at fault. He wanted to punish me but my mom told him off. He made sure he kept his eyes on me after that, tho. Mainly to avoid her rage, I’m sure lol
@@testerwulf3357 yeah, he honestly wasn’t ready to be a parent. I had to grow up more quickly than other kids to compensate for his shortcomings. Fortunately I’m an adult now, so my safety doesn’t depend on him as much anymore.
Matt is even pulling the car to the sideway before checking phone IN THE GAME lol. Mad respect for all people still follow safety guidelines within the game.
This sort of horror is absolutely terrifying for me as a woman. I've been stuck alone due to car problems a few times, and the amount of fear i felt back then when cars stopped beside me actually still makes me shiver. The amount of men (not all i know) that tries to take advantage of you is horrifying. Multiple men offered to help by lieu of "some extra services".
Can we all appreciate how hilarious Mirror Matt is with the chapter title for the gameplay. Literally love him so good job MatPat for getting him on Team Theorist👍🏻
Couple things. A) you missed the manager beating up the creepy guy at the end for coming into your room B) the whole ghost story thing was something the person heard. This is not a game based on fiction, it is supposed to be real so ofc there wouldn’t be a ghost lady that appears in the game. C) as a woman in her 20’s it is very creepy to imagine being stalked, which, if you go back to the beginning of the game, you’ll realize you actually were being stalked the entire time. Ya missed a couple things Mat. I love ya anyway lol
Matpat: of course you can remember something that happened 3 years ago unless you have really bad amnesia! Me who has a naturally horrible memory: guess I have really bad amnesia
My thought too. I wouldn't clearly remember an event from 2 years ago unless it was impressively unique. Even scary or pleasant things would not be CLEARLY memorable without a very unique experience.
@@jameswest6232 I don't get what you're trying to imply. Yes, the events of both the first story and second story would be sufficiently unique to imprint a vivid memory on the subconscious as a survival reflex. Matt suggested the only thing necessary to remember something two years ago is that it was "only" two years ago. Some of us disagree. That's all.
MatPat has to do another playthrough, so many more creepy things that he missed. This game has such a creepy atmosphere but i think MatPat missed most of those things
You missed the manager absolutely nailing the intruder in the head at the end there. There's a lot of little details around that were missed because Mat was too busy inspecting everything or being 'safe' to notice.
@@Onyxiate while your probably right, i partly am going to believe this is real because even if it’s not, this situation is really scary, especially someone who is a women or a part of a minority
Can confirm. I STILL have no clear timeline memory of when I turned the stove off during the kitchen fire. I obviously DID, I just can't remember when.
Always love the subversion in this one. At fist it’s like there might be a monster or something supernatural. Then it’s like surprise everyday situation. And as a woman this was way scarier than the fist one.
Ugh. I love MatPat, but he somehow always manages to break the game, or just miss crucial plot points and events, then blame it on the game being unclear. Sometimes it is your fault, you just missed things Matt. With the checkov’s ghost lady, it is based on a true story as Mat said, so it’s just adding to the creepy atmosphere she really experienced. Oh, as far as where she was first drugged - I think she got drugged from the first drinks machine. I think Joe was good, as he ultimately saved her, and Yh it was probably a kidnapping or something for a drug ring. Maybe the game creator will weave one narrative between all five chapters. Or, if it is just five separate stories, that’s cool too. Either way, I’d definitely like to see a theory on this game.
Well this is based off a true story so honestly I don't think there's anything to theorize about and yeah she got drugged from the machine for sure and Mat being scared makes him miss a lot of things lol
I mean to be fair the stuff he missed were REALLY easy to miss..so that's just a fault of the game not him. Sometimes it's not the players fault when something is obscure or you have to look a very specific direction to see it (and it can occur without you looking). Though a lot of the time he's just confused, he doesn't mean to blame the game he just doesn't understand what's happening..a lot of things really can look like a fault of the game if you didn't know about them prior till you look into it and it's obvious it was your fault after.
@@testerwulf3357 But he legit stayed in the corner blocking like 60% of his view so he could barely see anything in the closet, the game made it obvious that he punches the stalker but he didn't see it because he was for some odd reason in the corner, not the games fault.
Hey MatPat. This was a cool playthrough because of your vigilance (even though the player character ingested pills against your will lol). As a tiny girl, I never really identified with the "Ha! Come at me with an axe, I can take you!" mentality that guys I've watched tended to have when playing this. Besides, I think most girls could tell (and fear) that the attacker is more likely to sexually assault a girl in this situation THEN murder her afterwards OR ship her off to be trafficked, and those add whole new layers of fear. Idk if you or Mirror Matt considered that because the only possibilities you mentioned are murder and cults. Unfortunately, I think the implications of rape have been highly reduced so the manly male players get even less of a hint. The ghost that the guy at the gas station mentioned was originally said to have been raped and murdered on prom night, not killed in a car accident. Also, note that Holly has been drugged, there was a man in her closet, and Joe eventually complained about 'goofy noises'. I wonder what that was implying 🤔. And in Gab Smolders' playthrough, you can hear a creepy guy whispering "Hello?" into your ear over and over in the last part. It upped the creepy factor by a lot. The vending machine is probably something that the attacker put to drug victims, and he purposely removed it when Holly was already drugged just so Joe can't see it (but that's just a theory- A Game Theory). The story is still confusing either way and by the end you didn't know who you should have trusted (probably no one since Joe did save you but he refuses to report this potential assault hive to save the motel's rEpUtAtIoN). But anyway, I was really excited to see you play this and I hope you got the warm bath and the hug from your loved ones that you need.
@@Shadow1Yaz I... Maybe. I was aware of it, but I was acutely aware that it was a true story and the narrator was a 19 year old female. I think Matt played as himself, and that recontextualizes the playthrough. Being male may not help in this situation, but I think the real obstacle is being a live streamer using this for content without being able to just sit with it.
I believe in Jack's playthrough (or was it Mark's?) He found what appeared to be a camera in the bathroom (like that little red light that is visible on a camera when it's recording)
Whether actual rape occurred or not, we'll never know. There's no mention of her clothing not being on...guy could have just been a creepy doing things in the closet while watching her. Which is honestly just as bad. I don't know. This entire episode had me way more anxious then the last episode, probably cause I'm a girl and I would be terrified in Holly's situation. In fact, I'd have just staid locked in my car till daytime. Or locked myself in the motel room using the furniture.
Considering her clothes were still on and she didn't seem to freak out over anything like rape I don't think that's it and reading too much into it... I think the guy was just creepy. The weird noises were likely just her making noises in her sleep as she was heavily out of it..people on drugs do tend to make incoherent blabbering or noises. Joe did think you were on drugs, so this is more likely. What the guy wanted is kinda unknown as anything he could get other than watching you struggle he would of done and it'd be noticeable. If he wanted to rape you he would of and left..if he wanted to kidnap you he would of before you woke up! Ect. It doesn't make much sense.
You were allowed to move at the end there. The mic was there for your microphone to pick up your voice, not your character's movement. Before that moment it didn't pick anything up even though you were moving around and talking, you probably didn't have a mic hooked up or something. If you moved and watched the creep, you'd have seen that the manager punched the creep in the face when he was coming out from looking around the bathroom. Also, it's a bummer to hear that even though the cartoon was on low volume it still overpowered on the creeps voice saying "hello?" "Is someone there?". It's weird though that I didn't notice the flash of the creeps camera before he stood in front of your door. There are also "secret" scenes and clues in these games. There was supposed to be a scene of the creep at the gas station sabotaging your car and running away to his van parked on the road when you came out, but it probably didn't happen cuz you weren't at the right pump to have him activate.
Well if u go back to the part where he exited the gas station it did show that the guy was indeed running back to his van but i dont think mat was paying attention to it.
Regarding the first time he was in the closet, he assumed it was for real life audio. Mirror Mat asked if he wanted a mic, and MatPat said no, that he didn't want to make it scarier (basically).
The guy who was breaking into your apartment, you can actually see him in some early parts of the episode like even since the gas station. At first you will see him walking away from your car and returning to his van. He's the one responsible for breaking down your car.
That actually was someone else. The motel guy has a pink car. And you can see that car driving slowly in front of you to confirm that the other guy sabotaged your car successfully. He can tell because your lights are flickering, so he speeds off to set the logs in place.. and then off to the motel.
The closet guy and the guy who broke in are the same. If you pay really close attention you can see the silhouette of the guy move around. He's the guy in room four right next to where the coffee machine was. The motel owner was sketchy but if you'd been a little closer you'd have seen the manager find the guy and knock him out. P.s. The pills were probably aspirin or some other medication for pain. The manager mentioned having other drunk guests so having some medicine to help with a hangover in each room would be beneficial.
I agree, it was likely meds for maybe settling stomachs or helping with pain or even to help with anxiety! All of these would be useful if he constantly deals with crazy drug users.
I noticed this while I was playing the game but if you go by the car that is parked outside room number 4 (the one with the door slightly open) you are able to hear breathing coming from the car trunk. Im pretty sure that the guy in room number 4 is the one that is stalking us and is probably some kind of kidnapper or something.
I love how this game series is turning out (I mean the actual game lol). A bunch of small horror story’s/ experiences all combined into one “game” is really nice! Also I’m here in under an hour?? What??
"At least [barricading the door with luggage] throws them off for a second" it brings me great joy to know that MatPat subscribes to the JJ Bittenbinder principle of throwing assailants off their rhythm
It's cool that Mat intuited that it was a setup so early on, but then completely missed that the logs and the coffee were set by the attacker. Not to mention he didn't see that Joe was the one who rescued him. Leading him to conclude that it was all one big grift.
matthew...for someone who studies games a lot and likes to pay attention to everything you miss a lot. you were being stalked by one guy, the custodian guy, you could actually see him throughout the entire game moving about, you could see him sneaking his way to your room as you went to get coffee, sneaking his way out of your room (he was the closet guy) while you went to show joe where the coffee machine was, heck thanks to your bad positioning while hiding in the end you didn't even see that the guy checked the bathroom and joe snuck up on him and took him out, you also need to think of this as the person experiencing it, not the god like player that gets to know and see what is happening or going to happen, you even missed quite a bit in the first one.
Nope. If you had moved the camera, you would have seen that the manager knocked the creep out when he was in the bathroom. The creep didn't just leave and the manager was not a part of the evil scheme.
Both of my parent's moms were in California and Colorado (respectively) when Bundy was in those places. (I believe it was California, i know for a fact w/ Colorado, but I may be wrong about Cali)
I think Joe and the housekeeper were just creepy because they were awkward strangers. If there is something weird going on in that town, it feels like Joe is aware of it but does not approve of it. That's why he got so angry when you appeared to be high, everyone who stays at his hotel is some druggie or weirdo. I think at the end, he entered the room to fight off the creepy guy himself.
I am 100% with Matpat on barricading the hotel room door, it doesn't matter what hotel I stay at I am up nearly all night checking and listening to my surroundings.
38:50 Fun fact!: Vampires would be able to be seen in modern photographs and mirrors because there is no longer silver in either. Mirrors used to have thin layers of silver behind the glass. Cameras had silver in their processing systems.
Thank you matpat for brightening my whole day with your screaming As a side note I’ve never really been nervous about the creepy motels… probably because I grew up in a small town that had 3 in town (we were a “big town” compared to others in the area) and 2 others in nearby towns
I've never found a motel creepy either. I've found them like, really gross sometimes, but just cuz the last 6 guys smoked two packs a day didn't make the motel unsettling or anything. I live in a tourist city too, so maybe that's it.
yeah the motels I've been in are not creepy at all. they're basically hotels just outside. they were well kept and well lit. never felt unsafe. I even watched Vacancy in one for irony lol
OMG, the fire alarm in my college dorm just went off while I was watching, and I jumped so high!!!😨 Everything is fine, NOW BACK to the regularly scheduled GTLive 😅

The monster thing was a misdirect and the guy in the closet was the same guy who was attacking you. At the end I'm pretty sure the manager guy punched the creepy guy.
@@shadeslayer8631 How does not wanting cops involved equal "I killed a guy"?? That's not what heavily implied is..I think it's just he just doesn't want the bad publicity (which a LOT of business' do..they'd rather sweep things under the rug than get police involved).
@@testerwulf3357 that’s not about publicity he already said the motel doesn’t get business so bad publicity won’t change much, then they show joe is already suspicious of what is going on when you can’t show him the coffee machine, secondly most hotel owners would not imply to not get cops involved unless they either were doing something illegal or planning on “taking care” of the guy so there is that. Secondly cops getting involved wouldn’t be bad publicity since the article would note joe went vigilante and saved a life it would actually be good publicity
i wonder if matt pays any attention to the many comments calling him out on the fact that he ignores/doesnt pay attention to key pieces of plot and then proceeds to blame the game creator on the "lack of cohesiveness"
I think that (spoiler warning) . . . . . . Mat missed a lot of things. I think that the guy sabotaged your car (at the gas station) and put the logs on the road. The guy at the convenience store may or may not be an accomplice. He told you that creepy story to buy time and to prevent people from helping their potential victim.
Yepp, and prepare for emergencies as they can happen anytime. Always have a ‘go kit’ in your car with essentials like a first aid kit, flashlight, extra water, and possibly even a flare gun. It would be smart to carry a self defense weapon too in the event some creep tries to mess with you. Even if it’s just pepper spray.
I've hitchhiked a decent amount. Whenever I travel to a different place for leisure I almost always hitchhike as my main form of transportation if I can. It's cheap, and I genuinely believe there's no better way to get the raw experience of wherever you are. Japan is something I'll never forget, meeting so many unique and interesting people willing to pick up a foreigner. Weird, I know.
i love how matpat skipped a part of the game where after taking the pills he was supposed to go to sleep then wake up to hearing a voice saying hello and knocking on the door.
I stayed at a sketchy motel with my boyfriend once because it got late and we decided not to drive home at like, 1 in the morning. My bf decided to barricade the door with a small desk in the room, which I thought was overkill but did make me feel safer. I’m glad he did because that morning someone tried to force their way into the room (and got the door open despite the deadbolt being in use). They only didn’t get into the room because of the barricade. We waited a few minutes to make sure they were gone, and then we got the heck out of there
I like to personally think Matpats reaction in the intro clip is his reaction to new FNAF. not the jump scares. Just the fact that "It Always Comes Back"
The fact that there were counteractive pills just waiting there for you and the manager knew about your need for them is quite telling. He seemed to know you needed to leave the room in your search for the coffee machine because the guy left at that point while you were gone.

yeah, "climax" if the logs were set up on purpose, why didnt the kidnapper just come to get holly at the time? if the kidnapper was a kidnapper why would they hide in the closet the 2-3 hours holly was asleep? time to explain my theory. Not a kidnapper, but a r*pist This explains why they did nothing during the logs. Out in the open This explains the drugging You get drugged, go to bed, get r*ped so to add on to the first reason, Out in the open and not drugged. When you're asleep and drugged you wake up at 3. WHY WOULD THE KIDNAPPER JUST GO TO THE CLOSET? and why would you see the closet door closing Clearly you were r*ped and there was plenty of time to do so! Joe even mentions it, "goofy noises" It's really just understandable and not understandable Also heres some minor backup details the part where the guy busts in he calls her pretty lady or something (i also cant tell due to it being dark but does the guy only have pants on) ok so here comes the question Why did he leave the room and want to break in? I don't exactly know but im assuming it was for holly to not scream or something but For a r*pist at that point what are you gonna do? im assuming backup plan was kidnapping so technically a kidnapper but im still unsure (if someone else understands better please explain) so thats what ive got. r*pist r*pes holly and this is probably an even bigger fear for girls considering i see comments like "as a girl we fear this" and i assume they don't understand but its not cool to know in the real world if the roles were reversed, nobody would care about this
this makes a lot of sense really. it explains why Holly was making goofy noises. Jack seemed to have the same thought in his playthrough. also for what it's worth, I care. men or women no one deserves this.
Going off what I understand of the game, she went to the gas station and while she was inside, the guy told her people go missing when they travel along the route she was headed on. If you're quick you can see someone cutting the wires on her car when she's paying for the gas to cause it to break down when she stops the car later along the road. The guy who picked her up clearly knows the area is dangerous and hints there are bad people around by telling her not to bother anyone. He probably dropped her at the motel hoping she'd be safe with the Front Desk Guy (I don't remember his name). He clearly was freaked out by whatever is going on and didn't want to interfere too much. Front Desk Guy hints the people who stay at his motel aren't exactly the nicest and to keep quiet, probably to protect her so they won't know she's there for her safety. This isn't a reputable place as we saw by the sign in the window. Someone staying there plants a coffee machine that they can easily take down later. They did it so smoothly and quickly that they've probably has practice with this same bit. I think guests getting drugged is a common event due to the fact that Front Desk Guy says he thinks he had a sober guest "for once" which infers this happens often. He also had pills ready to help. The fact he realised what was happening and suddenly got protective shows he realised what was happening to her and she was about to get hurt in some way. He tells her to hide and not open the door because he knows they're coming for her and wants to stop them, even if it's just this once. I think this is a human trafficking scheme. They'd have someone at the gas station at the ready to pick a victim, they'd have a trap along the road to make sure the car had to stop and they had to get help. They'd cut the wires for good measure if they could. They knew they'd have to hitchhike or walk to the nearest place with a phone: the motel. They'd drug the coffee machine (and I'm guessing they may have tampered with some of the stuff in the vending machine) to get the victim sedated. They'd probably hear them freaking out and then wait for them to pass out, then go to their room and take them away. But that's just a theory...
it’s so interesting to me how amab ppl play games like these cause you can tell they’re socialized differently when it comes to traveling alone. no afab person would ever ever tell a stranger they were traveling alone and that feels like common sense but it’s not- just a thing girls need to learn. so weird to me
sadly. like I can't tell how stressed out am I watching amab people playing games like this. like who in their right mind will ever tell a stranger that youre traveling alone?? 😭 that's a big no-no for me. like no I will just sleep in my car if I had to choose between sleeping in a sketchy motel in a middle of nowhere or my car. plus it's midnight at the time??? just no i will just sit in my car until fucking sunlight. afab people pov of this so fucking scary considering this can happen irl.
Yes! Love mat pat but I don’t think he realised the implications of being drugged and finding a man in the closet after, esp bc someone commented that joe having “heard weird sounds from the room” alluded to the character being SA’d. He also seems to be somehow missing the important things in the bg (someone leaving your car at the gas station, the man going into the room next to the coffee machine) which provides a LOT of context for what’s actually happening. I was kinda shocked when matpat said he would’ve thought the logs thing was a ploy by tow trucks to get money (or smth similar) bc my immediate thought was kidnaping and or rape (as so many stories from women have proven) along with the things you mentioned it really is jarring to see the difference.
As an afab I feel quite differently, actually, but that is probably because I grew up in a country where it is extremely safe to walk around at night, even if youre a woman. In my country there aren't really motels like these either because how close every city and town is to each other (I live in a small country with little forests). Quite interesting to see how it's in other countries though
I don't think this is specifically a afab vs amab thing..it literally just depends on where you're raised and how you're raised. In safer areas people are more likely to say they're alone no matter gender, and not all guys are care free enough to say they're alone.
My favorite ice cream place happens to be reopening on the day of the FNAF stream, so I’m gonna go there and have a wonderful hot dog lunch while watching!
If it makes you feel any better, Matt, I've never hitchhiked or stayed in motels/suspicious inns and I fully share your survival instinct (minus the barricading the door) You're not alone buddy
this game is killing me. i need to watch more women play it because seeing this situation over and over again from a man’s perspective is just so lacking. i haven’t seen anyone really pick up on the fear of what could happen to holly here
Before the guy was hiding in the closet, you can actually hear his footsteps moving to the closet so he hides from you. Until you MIGHT open it. If MatPat wears headphones, he'll hear it. But MatPat never wears headphones.
It felt like since MatPat put himself into the situation instead of seeing it through the eyes of the protagonist, he didn't get to experience it the right way.
My parents and friends know that when I'm driving, I don't answer my phone (calls or texts). Also, I would easily barricade that hotel door (with the bloody furniture, not the luggage) and not sleep. I'm hyper paranoid in a situation like that. o.o But yeah, as a lady, this entire episode is really terrifying. Also, did this 19 year old girl seriously just take random pills from a dresser drawer in a seedy motel? For real real? -__-'
This is really reminiscent of an Episode of The X-Files, season 8, episode 4, Scully is in a road trip to somewhere and she stops for gas but they gave her a mix of gas and water so the car breaks down, then she goes and argue with the guy in the gas station and he's like "oh, it must've been the rain but hey, there's this town with and only one of the houses have a phone, you can go there" and she goes and the phone doesn't work, she has to stay and help a guy and it turned out to be a cult town who venerates a monster... It's a good episode
Stuff like this that makes the game extremely unsettling.

Oh, I agree. That guy probs wanted some sexy time with Holly. I can see how male players would miss this, it’s not something they have to worry about.
If you hurry out of bed and outside after seeing the guy staring through the window, you can see him walking quickly back to room 4.

OMG, the fire alarm in my college dorm just went off while I was watching, and I jumped so high!!!😨 Everything is fine, NOW BACK to the regularly scheduled GTLive 😅
Bro dorm alarms do be actin up always
Mat not seeing the ending is the funniest thing I have ever seen 🤣
I love how he said “is there a coffee maker in here?” And goes into the bathroom
If you request a coffee maker in a hotel, there is a good chance they will put it in the bathroom. That's where the easily available surfaces are and that's where the room's water is for you to make it with
Well duh, every good motel has a coffee maker in the bathroom. You can have a nice sip of coffee while showering

How to survive a horror scenario:
Step 1: Barricading the door.
Step 2: Hide in the closet.
Step 3: Come out of the closet, open the door and go to sleep.
In my country we have a horror folkrore leyend about a hitchhiker. It's called La Cegua. So, ye, we basically are raised to not pick up hitchhikers, cause, yes, we get told horror stories and leyends since we are basically toddlers. No bed-time stories or cute songs, I used to get told about a woman that would murder me if I picked her up, a man who would murder me if I stayed up too late, a headless man who would murder me if I saw him, and kidnapped by an empty tumbril. Ahh childhood, how nice memories
8:37 Matpat has a really good DJ voice, totally could hear it on a radio.
The monster thing was a misdirect and the guy in the closet was the same guy who was attacking you. At the end I'm pretty sure the manager guy punched the creepy guy.
It’s more implied he kills the guy since he didn’t want cops involved
@@shadeslayer8631 Yeah I guess but, you can only hear him punch him so I didn't know if he killed him or not.
@@W42ny it’s heavily implied
Unconventional but, im kinda in a bad head space but watching matpat bantering joyfully helped make me feel better :'> thanks matpat & mirror matt

Mat missed a lot of things.
I think that the guy sabotaged your car (at the gas station) and put the logs on the road.
The guy at the convenience store may or may not be an accomplice. He told you that creepy story to buy time and to prevent people from helping their potential victim.
I love how much effort they put in this episode it really makes you sometimes appreciate how much that try to scare you.
One thing for sure is that people need to plan their trip properly, no matter how far it is
Yepp, and prepare for emergencies as they can happen anytime. Always have a ‘go kit’ in your car with essentials like a first aid kit, flashlight, extra water, and possibly even a flare gun. It would be smart to carry a self defense weapon too in the event some creep tries to mess with you. Even if it’s just pepper spray.
38:50 best reaction to finding a random person in the restroom of your hotel room
Mirror matt: "People say we take a long time to finish games"
Matpat:"win by doing nothing"
I've hitchhiked a decent amount. Whenever I travel to a different place for leisure I almost always hitchhike as my main form of transportation if I can. It's cheap, and I genuinely believe there's no better way to get the raw experience of wherever you are. Japan is something I'll never forget, meeting so many unique and interesting people willing to pick up a foreigner. Weird, I know.
i love how matpat skipped a part of the game where after taking the pills he was supposed to go to sleep then wake up to hearing a voice saying hello and knocking on the door.
38:51 “OH MY GOD! WHAT THE F--“ nice save dude lol
Bud I’ll keep it pg at any cost
I live near a large prison, and we have big "hitchhikers may be escaping inmates" signs everywhere
Just the fact that
"It Always Comes Back"
The fact that there were counteractive pills just waiting there for you and the manager knew about your need for them is quite telling. He seemed to know you needed to leave the room in your search for the coffee machine because the guy left at that point while you were gone.
the story: 100 percent scary
the story as a woman: 100000000000 scary.
stay safe y'all
I get the sentiment but maybe let's not act like trauma is worse depending on gender
@@JohnDoe-hj9fh the main character is a 19 year old woman. Plus who are creepy dudes gonna attack? Another dude, or a teen girl by herself?
What the the real world statistics say? They say women are more likely to get attacked BECAUSE of their gender then men. Don't act like men are in equal danger then women.
@@JohnDoe-hj9fhdepends on the trauma
@@parrotly1092 that's not how trauma works... Brb gonna tell someone their trauma isn't as bad as my trauma lol
@@JohnDoe-hj9fh i didnt mean trauma io meant like how much sympathy/empathy to others trauma can vary
To be fair, things happening in real life usually are pretty boring even if it's a murder case. You have no build up to the climax most of the time.
yeah, "climax"
if the logs were set up on purpose, why didnt the kidnapper just come to get holly at the time?
if the kidnapper was a kidnapper why would they hide in the closet the 2-3 hours holly was asleep?
time to explain my theory.
Not a kidnapper, but a r*pist
This explains why they did nothing during the logs. Out in the open
This explains the drugging
You get drugged, go to bed, get r*ped so to add on to the first reason, Out in the open and not drugged.
When you're asleep and drugged you wake up at 3. WHY WOULD THE KIDNAPPER JUST GO TO THE CLOSET? and why would you see the closet door closing
Clearly you were r*ped and there was plenty of time to do so!
Joe even mentions it, "goofy noises"
It's really just understandable and not understandable
Also heres some minor backup details
the part where the guy busts in he calls her pretty lady or something
(i also cant tell due to it being dark but does the guy only have pants on)
ok so here comes the question
Why did he leave the room and want to break in?
I don't exactly know but im assuming it was for holly to not scream or something but
For a r*pist at that point what are you gonna do?
im assuming backup plan was kidnapping so technically a kidnapper but im still unsure (if someone else understands better please explain)
so thats what ive got. r*pist r*pes holly
and this is probably an even bigger fear for girls considering i see comments like "as a girl we fear this" and i assume they don't understand
but its not cool to know in the real world if the roles were reversed, nobody would care about this
this makes a lot of sense really. it explains why Holly was making goofy noises. Jack seemed to have the same thought in his playthrough.
also for what it's worth, I care. men or women no one deserves this.
That unsettling sedated effect and closet jump scare literally ruined my life. Good game.
Petition to get mirror Matt a part on the intro
Matpat laughing at someone remembering something two years later when I can’t remember what I ate yesterday
Oh trust me I'm amab and I was cringing at Matt the whole time. He tells the dude he's traveling alone but draws the line at telling them his name?
My favorite ice cream place happens to be reopening on the day of the FNAF stream, so I’m gonna go there and have a wonderful hot dog lunch while watching!
That sounds delightful! I hope you have fun!
@@fynngreen00 Thank you! I’m sure I will :)
If it makes you feel any better, Matt, I've never hitchhiked or stayed in motels/suspicious inns and I fully share your survival instinct (minus the barricading the door)
You're not alone buddy
this game is killing me. i need to watch more women play it because seeing this situation over and over again from a man’s perspective is just so lacking. i haven’t seen anyone really pick up on the fear of what could happen to holly here
Before the guy was hiding in the closet, you can actually hear his footsteps moving to the closet so he hides from you. Until you MIGHT open it. If MatPat wears headphones, he'll hear it. But MatPat never wears headphones.
He doesn't wear headphones as he still wants to communicate with the people behind the camera.
Man that scare at the 50 minute mark, Matt looked like he was gonna cry, but to be fair me too
It felt like since MatPat put himself into the situation instead of seeing it through the eyes of the protagonist, he didn't get to experience it the right way.
If this was a horror movie Mirror Mat’s response to these situations would get him killed first “oh this is scary lets take a nap”
Yay!!!! Thank you so much for all the effort you put in! I appreciate these and it just makes my day! Keep doing amazing MatPat!!!!
It was so wholesome when Mat was stopping the car to read the texts. A good example
Matt being the guy who explains all the small details sure does miss a lot of the small details
Nah, he's the guy who gets all the small details, but misses ALL the big details.
This is why I always have a Portable Travel Door Lock in my overnight bag! Best travel item you could ever have!!
