For those using lighter mics and the boom arm won't stay in position, just remove one of the springs from both top and bottom arms, and BAM! Problem solved!!
OMG FINALLY!! I have the blue yeti and it’s one of the heaviest mics ever! I’ve broke two mic arms now! I’m ordering one of these!! 👍🏼👍🏼 thanks so much for letting me know!
I had some specific needs which this boom arm met perfectly, although I spring for this boom arm's big brother, the T30. It's got an extra 10 inches of total reach. It has been perfect for me for the last few weeks. It's silent when moving it, and I am only using it with a Behringer XM8500 mic. I've not needed it to go the full reach, so I can't validate the extension springback issue you mentioned with this mic.
You have become my go to guy in the adventure im starting as a streamer and blogger. The beer hang idea was golden. Thanks for your vids, looking good ;)!
so helpful, i recently upgraded my microphone and wanted to use the shock mount that comes with it but my old crappy boom arm wouldn't hold. This video was perfect it told me everything i needed to know!
Quick and good review without unnecessary crap. I just ordered one for my rode podmic. I hope the mic is heavy enough for this boom arm. BTW you didn't add any Amazon UK links to T20 so no affiliate for my purchase 😉
I have a Blue Yeti from 2016. I got the T30 today and the threading from the adapter doesn't lock tight with my Blue Yeti. I heard that people wrap electric tape on the adapter to get that adapter snug.
I love this review. Mainly cause I had a problem where it came up a few inches every time I tightened it. Looked at multiple reviews and youtube videos, but no one had any negatives (that wasn't user error). Your review actually pointed out that my Fifine mic is probably too late lol.
I am glad that I could help you out. If you already own this boom and a lite-weight mic... you can balance it out my getting a heavier shock mount that will work for it
@Wild4Games @Everyone Can someone tell me if the end piece, or top piece idk what to call it, will support the weight of the blue yeti being in a horizontal position? My old boom arm could not and the mic would sag down. Since my old one broke and I'm in need of a new one I'd like to know please. Thanks.
it doesn't really support a shock mount with a blue yeti unless you mess with it to a precarious position to where it barely holds both without the mic flopping over on it's side
Just ordered the 2 pound beastly rode podmic which will take anywhere from 1 to 2 decades to arrive since corona, regardless this video makes me confident that this is the arm for me. Will be using the link, thanks!
I have this boomarm i use it with a razer seiren x wich is pretty light so the arm goes back up even when its thightent I have found out that by taking 1 spring off that it works perfect with light mics
I'm currently using the Shure SM7B in combination with a Halo shadow reflection screen. The combo of both seems a little bit too heavy for the Rode PSA1 boom arm I have. I'm guessing the combo is too heavy for any type of boom arm (given the limits of those, and... well... gravity), but I was wondering if you have any tips for better loading capacity boom arms? (Combined weight of the Shure and the reflection screen adds up to about 2,61 kg / 5,19 lb total.)
Hello i want to get this with razer sieren mini. Is that too light and what can i do to make it not have the problem of the mic going up. Some people are saying to remove springs but idk if you can put it back and I dont really want to mess with it. Is there another fix?>
Damn shame I can't get this shipped to Australia. Only options I currently have for Blue Yeti is from Blue or Rode that will support the Yeti. The only option is to use a shipping forwarder and that works out to about A$100. At that cost, I might as well get the Rode PSA1 for a few dollars more.
Hey man, would this work with the Samson G track pro? im trying to find a cheap, but nice arm and this looks perfect, im just unsure if it does fit and works!
I was about to pull the trigger in the buy of one Tonor T20 and just had saw about the behavior with lightweight mics. I'll use it with a ATR-2100x USB which has only 268gr/9.5oz. Too light for this boom arm, right? :/ Thank you
That might be a little light yes. What I would recommend if you do buy it and have trouble adjusting it is to use some sort of ballast to weigh it down. Maybe a length of chain or some heavy magnets or something. Hope this helps thanks for watching!
my problem with this is that the metal is hollow and my desk wobbles alot and so it then has a hollow metal ring when playing games or typing, so if you have a desk that wobbles alot or is weak wood dont get it as the mic will pick up hollow metallic sound

Did anyone ever encounter an issue where the screw doesn’t fit the Blue Yeti?... I used a generic blue yeti mic and the screw is a tiny bit smaller than the screw in hole 😐
I have not had this problem personally. If you have electrical or plumbers tape you can wrap a little bit around the screw to take up some of the slack. Hope this helps!
What about boom arms for tight spaces? My desk doesn't really have room for a boom arm off to the side and my desktop is too cramped for a mic stand. I would like to get away from using my headset mic while streaming but have very little room. Ideas?
Hey! Nice video. But I like to know what exactly you mean with lightweight microphones. Do you consider 330 grams lightweight? Because I own a microphone this light and i like to know if it would be to light. Thank you in advance.
Are you able to clamp the base upside-down? Or even to a vertical platform? Can you move the arm if they were mounted like so? My desk has drawers so it can't be clamped normally.
It can't be clamped upside-down, and it can't be mounted vertically. I had the same problem you have; my desk has drawers, and the lip on the edge is too narrow for clamping anything. However, I have a custom-built hutch that was added to this desk. It's been great for acting as a lighting/audio grid. I have the arm clamped to the first shelf up and to my right, so it's completely out of the way when I am not using it, but it is easy to bring down to where I need it.
Can someone please tell me if the Rode PSA1 boom arm can handle the Rode K2 which weighs between 1400 g and 1500 g with the SM6 shock mount. I know it officially doesnt support it but if someone can tell me their experience with heavy mics on the PSA1.. also please tell me if the boom arm in this video will it support me attaching the SM6 and K2 Rode mic combo into the boom arm. Preferably i want the PSA1 but if it doesnt really work i might get this boom arm from the video. Please help??

I have not tested it with that mic BUT I have a feeling it would work fine. Double check the weight of the wave 3 on the manufacture's website and see.

Is 366 grams too light for this boom arm? I plan to mount an ATR2500x onto this and I dont know if it will work. Thanks!
Im asking myself the same because my microphone only weighs 333 grams. Did you try it or know the answer by now?
From my experience - It had some issues with mics under a pound
