Hi Ana! I am relieved to hear it was a quick border crossing. I love those old cobblestone streets! The nearest cobblestones to me here in the US is in Boston. When I visit, I wonder as I step on each stone, who laid this stone? How many have walked here before me? What was their life like?
I agree my friend, such cobblestone pavement immediately brings up the atmosphere of history and mystery 😊
My grandmother laid cobblestones in her early twenties. She was a single mother, my father was born in 43 and she had to send him off to live with a foster family, who she had to pay for. She was a tough woman for sure and unfortunately was so worn out, she died when she was 63.

Oh yes, I have a hard time with closure and often fear facing what unknown will come next. Ana, you do an exceptional job of letting go and summoning up the courage and excitement to move on to the next adventure. I suspect this is challenging for both of you and, frankly, I don't know how you do it! Remarkable. I found an interesting quote speaking about a Buddhist view of change and impermanence. Check it out - "The law of impermanence is a fact of reality that cannot be changed; everything that comes to be eventually passes away. The Buddha teaches that the path to peace and joy requires that we embrace change rather than pine for permanence."

Oh your time in Romania came to an end. I wish you got to live in a more interesting town than Arad but I hope you still had a good stay there.
I am not sure I quite understand what your end game is here. Where do you and Brian want to live? Is your plan to move to the US and are waiting for a visa or are you trying to settle somewhere in Europe?

Ana, if Belgrade feels like home to you and if only birocracy is the reason that makes you wanna leave Serbia for good, why don't you ask Jewish community for a help? There are both Jewish sinagogue here and Chabbad center and I don't think you have to be overly religious Jew in order for them to help you. Maybe they will find the way for two of you to stay here without too much birocracy and costly visas and papers. And you may offer here a course on mindfulness, declutter and how to find inner peace in crazy environment. People in Belgrade need it and it would be something fresh and new, like mental yoga, you can even incorporate your arts and crafts in such a course and run your own business here in Belgrade. I was sad to se you go, we need people like you here. But of course, whatever you decide I wish you luck and happiness!
I don't know if you are a Serbian actually living in Serbia, but no, they don't need another coach. Why? Because people are barely making ends meet here. So, a plan like that could perhaps function elsewhere but not here. Also, it's not a good idea to ask this religious community to help out as people here are not too happy about it at the moment. I'm sorry, but the advice just simply isn't good for Serbia, especially Belgrade. Maybe in another country.
