- Can the Navigator survive a bone-crunching 5 hour drive up the West Coast of Tasmania? Does Jo prove that a Hobie Lynx can conquer the Pieman River? Can Mat bring home an Abalone and what will Jo do if he doesn't? Where do trees go to die and do Wombats eat humans? All this and more will be revealed in this very 'special' cruise up the magnificent Pieman River.

Ok my favourite small boat video to-date. Brilliantly done....thank you 👍👋
Thank you Steve. That means a lot coming from you. We are very lucky to live on this beautiful Island and enjoy being able to share our adventures. Stay Salty!
You both have a lovely style and storytelling ability. Fantastic stuff. You both take care now 👍
A wonderful cruise. I especially enjoyed the minimalist choreography at 16:00. Thank you!
Good thing someone reminded you to put that life jacket on!
Great video.
Corinna is a fabulous place to stay. The trip down the Pieman River to the heads is also well worth it, better if you have a small sailing craft like the Welsford Navigator. Regards.
Indeed ⚓️👍🏾
Inspirational!!
Thank you
What a great trip! Jo was amazing paddling all that way - I am going to show Mrs that type of kayak. Solid Air looks beautiful too! J
Thanks Josh. I think the Nav is JW's most gorgeous design...very photogenic! But you probably agree.
You're taking us to places that most of us are unlikey to see. Spectacular work. Well done.
Thanks Chris. It's a privilege to live in Tassie and rewarding to share these adventures with you.
I'm love'n Joe's hat, very cool. What a stunning coastline, and great adventure, thanks for sharing.
She loves her hat! Thanks for the comment.
Great video of a wonderful adventure. A good ad for the boats and all of the gear, including the Trangia cooker.
Thanks for making the video, great to watch.
Plenty to come...
Another great video and so many places to explore, thanks for sharing, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul.
Great footage along the river, loved the Navigator shots at sunset, especially that last one. Have located the Navigator construction photos mentioned previously , but couldn't see any way of contacting you on your channel. YT deleted my posts that had any links in them unfortunately, cheers, Laurie.
Hey mate. Join the Dinghy Cruising Tasmania FB group and send me a message through that way perhaps?
Another great Video another great adventure Mat, thank's for taking us along on the ride, we live in a stunning state and you guys showcase some of our beautiful waterways, can't wait to finish my Pathfinder I may follow in you tracks. Cheers guys well done.

Great video team, I look forward to your videos now, great way to spend afternoon tea on the job (building in Lyttelton Canterbury NZ) great to have the extra boat (kayak) to get around and take superb shots. Will definitely stay salty. All the best Brad.

Was down at the heads in about "66. Put in at Corinna, motored down and camped in a shack. Great fishing trip - bugger all fish, but great time.
Special place!

Mmmm why am I thinking about a pie w an eye in it. Awesome video!!
Gotta be quick! ;-)
Nice ride. Thanks .
thanks mate
What an awesome little getaway. I have only had abalone once, I remember using my scuba tank to tenderize it😂😂😂
Yep, some do that...but if you can chill the abalone down slowly it kills them before they go tuff. Like anesthetising the fish, rather than shocking it quickly.
Well that was fun. What boat is the spinnaker you are flying from? Greeting from Navigator "slip jig".
Thanks for the comment. I think it’s off a 420.
Awesome trip. Thanks for sharing! Need a link for the toilet brush!

How many boats do you have? Can we get a look in your shed ? Would love to know what surrounds you at home, sorry mate I'm nosey.😎✌️
I'll never tell.
@@SmallCraftTasmania-ms4sx oh ok thanks for that.
@@craiganderson8232 seriously though...not that many...we buy and sell...restore and sail...last month we sold 4 boats...so our collection is low at the moment. Stay Salty! ⚓
@@SmallCraftTasmania-ms4sx no l understand , I don't want everyone knowing my personal, just fascinated by it all, would love to trade boats my self, in fact stay at home and scrape, paint and work would be my retirement if it was possible. Love the work you do.Thanks again.👍
I haven't done any river sailing, so I'd like to ask some silly questions. If I am sailing South in a current of 5 knots (its a wide fast river) and the wind is blowing South at 10 knots. Will I get my normal speed in 10 knots of wind? i.e. if I normally sail 5 knots in 10 knots of wind, will I now get 10 knots with current? What if the wind is on the beam and at a right angle to the water flow? If there is no wind at all will I have steerage going downriver?
Great questions. I'm not an expert on river sailing but a google search brings up some good articles: www.pbo.co.uk/cruising/12-tips-sailing-norfolk-broads-17423
