UPDATE / CORRECTION: At 4:40 when I have everyone running out and soaking the orbs, this actually gives a physical DAMAGE DOWN not a physical VULERABILITY DOWN. So you can just have your healers / caster run out and grab all of these, again as long as they all get soaked, not a big problem.
As far as I remember the orbs just heal Hakutei, what does it matter if it heals him from full, to still full since we doing a tank lb to take the full health raidwide? why not just ignore them entirely? I swear that's how it was done when current. The 2nd one I mean.
I didn't have time to test if you could survive after soaking no orbs so erred on the side of caution, but people have told me you can so you can just ignore 2nd orbs, yeah.
@@bigkobelive Some optimalisations to the strategy: as we are lvl 100 now and have a lot more skills, in the first tiger phase you can full focus on Byakko and only when the "Roar of Thunder" is being channeled you wail on tiger with all you got to get it to ~50%, just before it goes off tanks use their raid wide mitigations as well as healers, and HoTs if possible, By the time you get back on the ground you'll be almost back to full health and most cooldowns will be back up again, and the group will be couple of % closer to victory on the boss. The orbs indeed can be left to healers, with a sprint they will get them all in time if they start on the positions like you show on your graphic.
REALLY love this new hybrid approach, where you show the mechanics by diagram, then immediately afterwards in-game gameplay. This is fantastic. Most FFXIV raid guides EITHER show the whole fight by diagram, OR by in game footage, but rarely show both. Having both, in this concise "mechanic by mechanic" method, is the perfect balance. You get to learn how the mechanic works via the diagram, then get to see how it actually looks in game, so you can regonize it. Thank you and bravo for taking FFXIV guides to the next level! Keep up the awesome work
For the second Roar of Thunder, you can pretty much ignore the orbs too since you'll be using tank LB there. It is survivable even if the tirger is at full HP.
Thank you for the guide! Way back in the day my group did Byakko when he was current, but I honestly couldn't remember anything about the fight. Watching this video I now remember why that was.
Hey a quick note about the Roar of Thunder mechanic described at around 4:40, the orbs don't give a physical vuln, they actually give a (pretty rare) Physical Damage Down debuff, so ideally you'd have healers and casters take all of the orbs. They used to take a big chunk out of your TP, but they replaced it with the debuff after TP was removed.
First invuln would be at about 00:37 Second would be at about 5:04 Third invuln would be about 8:08 So you could get first and second with Warrior invuln, but not 3rd.
I want to add, tanks can simply eat the Light party stacks themselves with a decent chunk of mitigation. Use about 40 20 and an your offtank button, but you still have more than enough for the tankbusters. All the mit comes off cd stress free and your dps get full uptime. Man... half of this fight is skipped mechanics
just like it was in Stormblood, when I saw him explain the mechanic properly I was like "we invulned this back in the day, and that was with invulns taking ages to trigger properly, with 7.1, invulns are actually responsive.
@@bigkobelive it's even worse in DT's version. I tested it in PF and you only need your 40% mit to survive with even then 50-60% of your HP remaining. atleast in SB you either needed a ton of mits or your immunity.
Great refresher on this one! I'm glad this first DT Unreal isn't too crazy, but knowing PF they'll struggle just like Thordan which was still quite easy lol Hopefully it goes by smoothly, Unreal means big money usually :P
It's a consequence of how I capture the POVs, but it comes with a lot of benefits behind the scenes. A bit annoying but it's due to how the game functions unfortunately.

@@bigkobelive is it the duty recorder? I felt it was off and either floaty or you're constantly having to deal with ice physics and sliding further than where you move.

I really like that you show actual gameplay in addition to the markdown, thanks for the guide!
Me too. So helpful!
Me too. I was just about to comment that. Having both helps tremendously. Definitely subbing
i came here to say this
Yes this is a great format!

i love that you showed the mechs instead of only the graphic. love this style of guide
Love seeing the schematics first, then the in-game example. It really facilitates learning for me. Thank you for the guide.
Thank you :)

Good to know, didn't get time to test it but was thinking you probably could.
Sweet you made a guide! Love your guides!
I remember doing this fight in stormblood and I’m so excited to be able to do this again. 😊

Great guide Mr Kobe, love this format.
Thanks Mr Clock

I got the clear thanks to this, thank you so much!!
Thank you for guide, I just cleared 2 hours after maint
holy i love your guides
this is perfection thank you!
No, thank you for watching
Thanks Kobe 🙏
it's funny how even back in Stormblood for the 1st 2 tankbusters ... we just invulned that and ignore the entire mechanic.
I can imagine farming this is going to get extremely boring very fast lmao. Thank you for the guide though Kobe.
Having to do the intermission 2 times per week...
thanks big kobe
You're welcome.
How many times he grabs the tank through the fight? 3 total? Just wondering if u can invuln all 3 with something like warrior.
First invuln would be at about 00:37
Second would be at about 5:04
Third invuln would be about 8:08
So you could get first and second with Warrior invuln, but not 3rd.

wait, is this a new teacher?
To add a note about State of Shock, but invuln does work on this (at least the EX) and good timing can allow a tank to invuln both consecutively.
The fight is pretty basic from today's standarts. Looking forward to Shinryu and Tsukuyomi in the later patches.
