As she powered up and emerged from Bay 12 it seemed to this old man that she was saying "I have one last adventure and one good fight left in me. Let's make it one for the history books." I just wish Deanna could've been in that last bridge scene and said something like "I'm only just realising how much that voice sounds incredibly like my mother.". Since Majel played Lwaxana Troi as well as the computer voice (and of course other roles in the Star Trek franchise).
I love the call back to Admiral Leonard "Bones" McCoy telling Data you treat her like a lady, she'll always bring you home. She did take care of them, getting them home safely.
Shame they didn’t take care of her, lost the star drive crashed and trashed the saucer, only Geordi and possibly reg Barclay put her back together again with help from the USS Syracuse
@@Zhortac If it makes you feel a little better, Ron Moore and Brannon Braga wrote the Veridian III battle as being un-shielded Enterprise vs a Vor'Cha-class cruiser. And the producers were unwilling to spend the money to refurbish the existing model or build a new one. "Better" yet, they could recycle the recently created Bird-of-prey explosion from ST6 to save even more money. So as-is so common, saving/making money won out over the art and story. But the PLAN was there to at least make more sense (i.e. Galaxy Class versus the most powerful ship the Klingons had (this was before the introduction of the Negh'Var)).

Great vid, my only critique would be calling it the "Final Cruise" of the D. We thought Generations would be the last we saw of her, and Picard proved us wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up again at some point, ready to explore and push the boundaries of what's known.
My personal head canon is that while Starfleet licked its wounds and before she returned to her slumber the D reclaimed her crown as Federation flagship. Projecting strength at a time where it was sorely needed.
More than likely as they would have had to come up with a way to flush out the Borg transporter dna and test it so the D likely became the unofficial base for that at the very least, hopefully she went on a final cruise like the A did before heading to her home/resting place. Just a shame we didn’t get miles O’Brien in the last episode somehow would have been another nice next gen/ds9 link

Couldnt ask for a better ending to the story of this Enterprise. Pressed into service for one final heroic mission by her old crew, to at long last, rest in a place of honor at the Starfleet Museum, to be visited and admired by millions of people for generations to come. A FAR better ending than laying on the surface of Veridian 3, a lonely and obscure planet, rusting away and succumbing to the elements.
Shout-out to the USS Syracuse engineering section, now the Enterprise's engineering section. Plus the detail of the saucer section still having the atmospheric entry scorch marks and dirt was an excellent touch.
This version of the ENTERPRISE is my second favorite next to Constitution class one Kirk commanded and the refit one. I grew up with TOS and loved all the series afterwards. Seeing a video like this of the resurrection of the Enterprise D reminds me of that video I saw of the resurrection of the Constitution Refit Class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 where they played the same opening song at the beginning and ending of this video they played in that one too great job and great work to the guys who made this.
One Hell of a ship -the Galaxy-class! She's been through so much and for once she bought her crew home! Thank you Doctor McCoy and M. Scott for giving the Next Generation such good advice!
the galaxy class so many of us remember as "our" enterprise, often got laughed about as being the fat ugly one, still extremly luxurious and efficient and in my opinion the most luxurious one of all the enterprises we know yet, still showed that it had the genes to be a predator and defend itself well against any danger even though she was built as a science ship.
Man I'll bet when this episode aired and people saw the legendary Starship U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D was back for one more final battle I'll bet a lot of people were crying their eyes out seeing the ship they grew up with back in the 80's was BACK and ready to kick Borg Ass one more time.
I disagree with the Enterprise being that maneuverable, it undermines the ship’s sense of scale. But I really do love this wonderful sendoff she got. It’s an extremely rare thing for fans of a show to get something like this so many years after the adventure originally ended.
Why did they decommission all those good ships (Galaxy-D, Intrepid-Voyager, Defiant, Akira-Class, Nebula-class, Saber-class...)? The Excelsior-class had a hull-life of 80 years and even exceeded that.
Akiras and Defiants are still very much active. Intrepid-Voyager she has truly been to hell and back and they wanted to preserve her for while most of Starfleet was sadly fighting a war, Voyager fulfilled Starfleet's mission of exploration (though not in the way anyone intended).
They decommissioned those ships because for one reason or another they couldn't stay in service. Be it because the main design was so old that continued upgrades (the constitution class) would either damage the frame of the ship or turn the ship into an entirely different ship, or because starfleet didn't have use for a ship like that anymore ( the Defiant class) or the ship itself had been through so much that repairing her was just too extensive and it would be more productive to just build a new ship as once you strip her down as far as they feared they needed to go they feared that they'd find far more extensive damage than they could ever functionally repair. (Intrepid class Voyager) and that's just some of the reasons I wouldn't be surprised if at some point the USS Enterprise F joins her sisters the A and the D in said museum.
That Enterprise X-Wing... Sorry, no. That graceful design is out of place in those hectic shots. That's not what it was intended for. The lack of style of modern directors is astounding.
A 4.5 Million ton starship (according to Memory Alpha) shouldn't be able to maneuver like that but apparently the audiences ate it up, so we're outvoted. 😊
It shouldn’t… when over 1000 people, animals and different types of equipment are on board. But without so much on it, I can see the maneuverability happening.
@@robertf3479 Yea she couldn't do that...I'm sure she couldn't perform a half roll in under 3 seconds at full impulse with a thousand people on board either....oh, oops, she did. You let episodes of DS9 and a slow moving Galaxy cloud your judgement. First, in a battle where ships are literally just meters off your hull, you don't just speed around. Second, that cube was 10 times the size of the J25 cube, she had PLENTY of room to speed around at full impulse. Also with no thousand strong crew or their belongings, no cargo and Data at the helm, I mean do you need a slide rule to figure this out? We ate it up because it's believable.
Actually most of the interior of the enterprise is composed of extractable modular units , depending on the function served. The interior can be altered to service a particular mission as needed. In all likelihood, the saucer was near fully decked out, whereas the drive section probably had on the engineering section and maybe a deck or two. Other than that, the manoeuvring capability we've seen on screen isn't that ridiculous. Plus, the drive section was used during the Dominion War, so it's probably that the engines and other elements were attuned toward combat speed and manoeuvrability.
