  • The Roland TR-606 Software Rhythm Composer is a detailed replica of the TR-606 Drumatix-an underground classic in the famous TR family of rhythm machines. The software version has the same sound and behavior of the original, plus powerful new features, more sound choices and faster, more fluid programming.
The TR-606 was a programmable drum machine released in 1981. Originally designed as a companion to the TB-303 Bass Line, its size, price, and ease of use lowered the bar for quality music production, making it accessible to just about anyone.
The punchy midrange kicks, popping toms, and sizzling hi-hats were a hit with DIY musicians and appear across an array of genres, from ‘80s new wave and punk to electronic styles. It’s the backbone of numerous classic tracks, and musicians continue to seek out the TR-606 for its alternative approach to the Roland TR sound.
The TR-606 plug-in integrates seamlessly with our TR-8S Rhythm Performer and Roland Boutique TR-06 hardware instruments. Transfer patterns from the TR-8S to the TR-606 plug-in, or create beats in your DAW and send them back to the hardware for live performance. And with its pre-mapped controls, you can use the TR-06 for hands-on operation of the plug-in.

That ability to drag and drop MIDI pattern or audio is brilliant.

I bought the tr-06 after seeing rolands literature point to this software, but with no mention of a cost involved.
Maybe if this software let us do something unique like allowing transfer of sounds or letting us use the kick on
2 drum channels (so we can use one as a bass) on the tr-06 then I would feel more inclined to purchase it,
or pay for a firmware update.
Have to say after not getting on with the tr8s for live jamming having to load and save the kit and pattern for
each amendment the tr-06 is a breath of fresh air, if only there were a few more sounds available.

I seriously honestly wish synth makers would make VST Plugins of their 1999-2010 synths. 80's music was great, but the sounds are old school at this point. The early 2000s and late 1990s were a solid continuation of ideas that were born in the 80s, but they pushed music forward. Ever since people decided to discard the musical roots of the 1980s, music has become simplified, uncomplicated, and appealing to people that have short attention spans and limited intelligence. We need to continue musically where we left off in the early 2000s.

??? Hardware synths in that era tried hard to recreate the sounds of the 80’s. That era either had synths with plenty of vintage synth and drum samples, were virtual analog, introduced new analog synths or modeled vintage synths. That era of synth manufacturing did little in terms of brand new never before ways of synthesis that brought a wave of gear that had fresh never heard before sounds.

      What Damon said

    • @av3nger3
      @av3nger3 3 года назад +3

@@damonbennett5911 If that's true, then there should be plenty of new music that has thick, inspiring and fresh new sounds, yet most of it is chip-tune, Roland Juno pads, etc. What you don't remember are the ridiculously good patches that synth makers would include with their synths. When most composers today try to create original patches, they just copy off of what's popular in the pop scene or don't take the time to actually create original patches. Rob Papen and Eric Persing are great examples of preset makers. Of course, Eric has given us Omnisphere and Rob Papen made some fantastic presets for the E-MU Orbit v3, but you don't see inspiring modules like the old E-MU stuff, some of the JV-1080 stuff, etc. I do agree that literally every synth ever made has patches that are meant to sound like 80s synths. The other problem we are likely running into is the transition from analog tape to digital, but that doesn't account for the common practice of creating the most basic melody with little conversation between intervals in a musical piece. Everything is simplified now and it showcases a focus on the idea that popularity trumps creativity. Just because a piece of music originates from a pop star like Katy Perry doesn't mean that it automatically is good because of who it is derived from. And while lyrics are great, they don't replace the complex conversations that instruments have had for decades that have now been reduced to the least common denominator. When artists create music that appeals to a person who doesn't even comprehend music, it loses its aesthetic pleasure and professionalism, becoming reduced to a form easily understood to everyone instead of an inspiring monolith to aspire to understand.

Can I use the tr-06 hardware with this in software productions ?

You don't give us the ability to tune the Hi & Lo Toms separately, So why didn't you guys tune them a 5th apart from each other?
    Please Fix This.
    Thank You

A bit strange, since TR-06 hardware does this.
Ah well, nothing a separate instance of the VSTi wouldn’t fix if it’s absolutely crucial, before they (maybe) update if we whine about it enough. :)

@@AdamJayTechnoElectro Yes, I'm glad to see that I can tune both toms separately on TR-06. I'm happy with the TR-06, but I was hoping the Plugin would work better with it, it seems pointless. Especially at $150, there should be a major discount on the Plugin for people the purchased the TR-06. The Plugin has less features than the TR-06, which is also strange.
Did you grab the TR-06 yet?

Can do things TR-06 can’t do. Individual instrument swing, last step per instrument. But it doesn’t have the compression, or other fx (easily found in a daw). Best to have them both I think!
