"Magnus had been hurt. he'd been hurt more profoundly than any mortal had hurt him before. His shock at that had been translated into his movements, which had become strangely halting and erratic. All his easy grace had left him, he fought like a bar-room brawler, clubbing at the heavy armour of the Dreadnought even as Bjorn thundered back.
"You were on Prospero" hissed the primarch, his voice a horrific echo of what it had once been. "I recognise your soul-pattern." Bjorn tried to reply, but his vox-generators had been destroyed.he could feel his systems failing all over his artificial body. At last, the hellish existence he'd been forced to endure for so long looked like it was coming to an end. He couldn't be too sorry about that.
"Did you really think you could kill me?" Magnus rasped, sounding both incredulous and furious. His free hand kindled with fresh witchfire. "If my brother could not, what hope have you?" It was then that Bjorn saw the shape careering down the slope above. A huge, armour-clad warrior, loping down the sheer ice-face toward them. Far above that was the profile of a drop-pod embedded near the summit of Valgard. Within his cracked shell, what remained of Bjorn's ancient mouth smiled."

Lorgar started the idea of Worshipping the Emperor.
The ACTUAL Cult was started by Remembrancers that survived the Flight of the Eisenstein.
The Anchorite's Edition of the book is what the Cult uses.
The Cult was then reformed later by Sébastien Thor.
Lorgar may have had a hand in the Cult's beginning, but he does *not* deserve credit for starting it or it's state as it is today.

I gotta say apocalypse is personally one of my top favorite books. (Primarily because it was one of the first books I read when I first started getting into the series backing during quarantine) I just feel like each of the characters, especially the space marine characters (both loyalist and traitor) really make it so interesting. From having a strike force of primaris imperial fists, first born white scars, and a primarily first born tho there were primaris raven guard. A scene that always made me smile was early in the book when the strike force arrived to the planet they were tasked to defend by RG they are ofc invited to a luxurious ball/banquet and each of the 3 respective chapter leaders embody their chapter. Suboden Kahn, the leader of the white scar detachment is naturally rather glad to mingle with the mortals even if it is just to flaunt his own glory. He appears more “relaxed” of the 3 compared to Karros of the raven guard who of course is sticking to the shadows observing, and then there’s Calder of the imperial fists who was rather indifferent to the whole affair. Then there is Amatnim and Lakmhu of the word bearers who follow Kor Phaeron and Erebus respectively in the dark council. I ain’t gonna lie most of the scenes kinda remind me of G1 megatron and starscream with Amatnim berating Lakmhu for following Erebus and basically telling him he knows nothing of the gods and their plans but I still find it amusing. Plus Amatnim grills Lakmhu for following Erebus especially considering the Bald fucker killed the big homie argel tal (which if I remember correctly from the book Amatnim actually described Argel Tal as one of the best in the legion).
So uhhhhh tl/dr: 10/10 good book would read again, fuck Erebus.

“Theology was never your legion’s strong suit.” Says a Word Bearer to an Imperial Fist (you know the legion that gave rise to the Black Templars). I find that amusing.

He is right, the Black Templars chapter was made to contain the younger, more religiously inclined members of the Imperial Fists legion, who were the exception.

So fucking cool. I know very little about 40k. I havent played a game, i dont have figurines. But your shorts are a huge way through whicj i just ABSORB the worlds lore. Every time i hear a term or name that i dont know i look it up; Slowly i get more and more familiar with the universe and i just like what i hear every dang time.
I think ill try to do a 40k Rimworld playthrough, that should be good fun.

Imagine the Emperor's face if instead of falling to choas after Monarchia.. The Word bearers become 3x more pious for the Emperor!
"IT WAS A TEST YOU ARE THE MESSIAH!!!"
