  • In this video I go over a solution to a common issue that plagues basically all AMG's and Mercedes alike, the OEM rubber hydraulic fluid filled engine mounts that love to fail.
I replaced mine with stronger East Coast Euro (ECE) Billet Poly "Street" Engine Mounts for added responsiveness in the throttle and shifting as well as a much longer service life than OEM.

Creative Steel also offers a great product for poly engine mounts, one of the best upgrades you can do to an AMG. Have solid/poly mounts on both my C55 and ML55 and it makes a world of difference!

I’m looking at upgrading from my w204 C300 to a w204 c63. Have you had a lot of issues and higher maintenance costs?

      I just switched from a 2011 c300 to a 2011 c63 with 62k miles.
I've had it for 2 months and no issues yet, I will let you know if anything crazy happens. The only work I needed to do was get all 4 struts replaced. Just give the 63 more TLC and you should be good. More frequent oil changes, listen to the sounds of the car, do the research. This is a high performance trim obviously, so you should be prepared to shell out $$$ if/when things go badly. It is definitely worth it and a much more enjoyable driving experience than a C300. The c300 is more economy oriented, while the c63 is an absolute monster. Tires will be a more frequent replacement, and the c63 eats through rear tires, especially if you're driving hard. You can easily go through rear tires twice a year, and front tires every year or year and a half.
Also, gas is huge. I usually averaged about 300-350 miles on a full tank on my c300, and now a full tank (on good behavior) will get you around 200-250 miles. With spirited driving, you can go through a whole tank in a few days.
The main serious problems with the c63 are engine weaknesses. Headbolts (on 08-2010 and some 2011) models were super faulty and would break, causing coolant leaks. Camshafts and cam adjusters are extremely fragile and Mercedes had a class action lawsuit due to problems caused by weak materials. Lifters are also a risk as well. These are all hefty fixes, so if you can't do it yourself, find a third party Euro shop that knows what they are doing. I would recommend going for a facelift model (2012-2014) to mitigate the risk for headbolt failure, and it has a better interior and transmission.
If you are prepared to deal with these potential issues (along with anything else that may come along) then the c63 is a good buy. At the end of the day, it is a car and all cars have their issues, so there is risk involved. But that risk is made up in smiles and enjoyment from a c63.
Make sure you buy one with maintainence records, and maybe learn how to turn a wrench to avoid paying labor fees. If you wanna go down that route, look up Tasos Machatos on youtube. MBforum will be a good resource as well.

You will feel vibration throughout the car that progressively gets worse. It first begins at idle in reverse and drive mainly
