I’ve noticed the different colours too! It’s because of the type of car, haven’t seen a pattern yet as to which colour is assigned to what 😅 But Easter themes, Halloween and Christmas usually make an appearance too!
We use our App all the time. Our favourite function is to send the Navigation Information to the car the night before our trip. Very easy to use and ready to go as soon as you start the car.

No sadly not, although I would like to! Just need to find time to squeeze it in I did test it, it’s a weird concept because you leave the key in the car and the system deactivates it and turns it into access via the app for others. Still would like to make a video on it though, just need to balance what I feel will work on RUclips.
Two things. The remote start feature is great but after starting the car remotely, I want the ability to change the temp of the environment controls. At this point, you only get the temp it was set to when I was last in the car, but what if the weather drastically changed? The only difference , in my opinion between geo fencing and valet protect seems to be the method of and how much range you can "box" the car in. Otherwise, I really appreciate the notifications when the car starts.
The older version of the app (on my 2018 C43) had the ability to set the temperature with the remote start. Not sure why they got rid of this feature. It was super useful!
I know! I really want to try it out! Sadly there’s not a car that’s available at my local Mercedes yet. When I get my hands on one though, I’ll be sure to cover it!

Hi Nick, great videos. Love my Merc E class. But I do get frustrated when it defaults back to Comfort mode even if you just turn if off for a couple of seconds. How can I make it default to the last mode such as Eco?
Thank you! I wish it could stay in a default mode too but all manufactures have to start in their default mode which in Mercedes is Comfort. You can change it straight afterward if you want to.

Ah there is no app, that’s the power of editing 👀 I manually add each “click” which looks like a white bubble of waves when I tap. I use Final Cut Pro to do this and a plug in from Motion VFX. Probably takes a min per tap to line it up.
Ah, that possibility crossed my mind too. It's super strange that there hasn't been an app that can show where to press when recording screen. I need it for making support videos for the world's best gin app (GiniT) - but thanks for your quick reply :-)@@npoleary
Hi Nick, I’m a daily user of Mercedes Me! Put on a full set of new tyres today and then charged my EQC to 60%. Merc Me app now shows 139mi range and 259mi range at 70% max charge level!! I wish this was true as I would love to have 370mi range at 100%😅 Waiting for response from developers
Sometimes Mercedes Me takes a bit of time to update - check your main screen to see how current the info is. The best way to update it is to Search for the car, or open the windows / flash the lights from within the app. The max range your EQC will have in summer will be about 240 miles (that's what ours said on a 140 mile round trip yesterday) - again, this prediction depends on your recent driving style.

Often i want to open the sunroff but also wanna protect my daughter on the back seat from the sun is that as example possible? Glad you enjoy the videos! No sadly not, there’s only three functions and you can’t have the roof open with the blind as the car shuts the roof with the same button. It’s just Open Vent Closed On the plus side, the glass itself is actually tinted so it does have some slight projection when closed
They’re almost identical Geofencing is when the car actually enters or leaves an area where as Valet Protect can be if the ignition is switched on / off too

Depends if you’re going to use it but I guess if you’re not then you can always just let them expire. You can renew them any when on the Mercedes me store 🤓 Remember that if you do, they stay with the car 🚗 so if you sell, the remainder of the subscription goes to the next person.
Hi nick. Just been looking at setting this up for my car but im concerned over automatic software updates as my car has been remapped. Can this effect the system like that or is more for other systems on the car? Cheers.
Automatic updates as far as I know only update the multimedia system however I’m not 100% sure on this so you might have to ask Mercedes on that one as to the full scope on what they can update over the air. In theory they could supply updates to other components so in that situation might be best to have them off.
Once again, very helpful. Would you know if older cars with Mercedes Me Connect (2019+), will they ever be able to have any of these additional features made available on the app? Ie., my 2019 e450 saloon does not have te option to close the windows, it simply just alerts me that it is open but i can only close it by being inside the car.
Hey Danny’s email! Thank you! Ah once a car is linked, it’ll show you everything that’s possible on the Mercedes me services page that’s compatible with the car. To date I haven’t seen anything added so I’m guessing that’s how they are based on the tech in the car.
Great video I’ve just got a brand new merc but even though Mercedes me is linked and loads of services activated they aren’t showing in the more section, also Mercedes me is say vehicle position is currently unavailable….any ideas?

In the app, Press Menu, Help and then Contact Support. I would guess if you don’t get anywhere with that bit or if they can’t help, just contact a Mercedes dealership and someone would be able to check it out.

Hey Katherine, really sorry I’ve never been able to try that feature out. It literally doesn’t exist here in the UK. Only certain countries have it. There’s Pre-Entry Climate Control for Hybrids and EV’s which I guess is similar but that’s about it.
The only icons I see below the box after pressing "more", are owner's info and "over the air updates". I would really like remote start. Do I need to further register with a dealership or is my 2020 GLC300 not eligible for remote start? Thank you so very much from Atlanta.
Really sorry you’ll have to ask Mercedes what functions will be available. If it’s the same as Mercedes dealers here, yes if you buy a car from somewhere you’ll need to register it with them. Remote start doesn’t exist here in the UK but I’ve heard and read on RUclips comments that the USA does. No idea what models, years and specifications though.

Hi Nick. I used your videos to get familiar with all the features of my new EQB, very useful! There is one thing I can not seem to get working. i even don't know if it is possible. I have an account / profile on my phone, and it syncs with mprofile in the car perfectly. I created a profile in the car for my wife. It appears in the app as a local profile (and in the car the 'me' symbol is not shown on the profile), but how can we activate this profile on her phone? Now it seems she is still changing my settings, not hers (in the top right my profile is always shown as owner).

I’ve heard that there are some new changes to new EQB coming by sadly I’ve not seen one at my local dealership or had an invite from Mercedes Press Office yet. I know the previous multimedia system MBUX NTG 6 (ones with a touchpad) only allow one profile to sync. However it sounds like the newer version might sync more than one!
I heard from someone in the comments on my videos that there was an outage recently. However if you speak with Mercedes support, they can let you know! 🤓 On the App, press MENU, HELP, CONTACT SUPPORT 👍🏼
See - my reply above. You need a cellular connection for the car - parking in a black spot will stop updating. Also, to update, try Searching for the car, or sending a command from the app to open windows or flash the lights.

It depends on the specification of your Mercedes if you can put the Sat Nav on both screens. Sadly not all cars can do it but if you chat with your local Mercedes they can let you know what yours can do 🤓
Are the Newer Mercedes 4G capable? If so what year does it change over? I'm in Australia and just bought a 2019 E53 AMG coupe and it has the MercedesMe feature, but 3G network is about to shut down this year. Any chance of upgrading the older 3G units?
Some are, and I think some even have 5G too! I believe there is a way to check on the Mercedes me Store (not sure if it’s the same worldwide) but might be best to check with Mercedes and they can let you know if it’s compatible. Sadly no once a car is built it cannot be changed from what I’ve heard.
Hi Nick. excellent vlog, as usual, thank you. I just had put a £10 bet on with my local Mercedes agent that my brand new GLE450D AMG Line Plus must have remote start capabilities. They said no mercedes cars have this feature, whihc I know is incorrect. i find this very difficult to belive as almost every car in the UK from a certain trim up, has this feature. Do you happen to know what the real story is please?
Thank you! No sadly any petrol or diesel in Mercedes does not have remote start in the UK. I’ve heard it’s different elsewhere in other countries. However if a car has an auxiliary heater or heat pump (like on EV’s, plug-in hybrids or selected Marco Polos) then you can turn the heating or cooling on, but no remote start.

Hi Nick. My S class doesn't seem to be able to open the window or carry out any of the extra functions- such as turning heated windshield on, open sun roof etc except the lock and unlock forget. Any suggestions. It's a late 17/early 18 face lift model. Many thanks
Really sorry I only started producing videos on Mercedes in 2020 so have limited coverage on cars prior to that. Most models will only do the unlock and lock though so that’s normal. Some of the newer ones allow window ventilation but I’d imagine that would be on the facelift S-Class. Probably due to the newer multimedia system. For heating that’s only cars that have an auxiliary heater so hybrids or electric cars.

They’ll be able to let you know what’s available if anything. To delete a Mercedes me account, log into the account via the app or website and head over to the profile section. On the website under My Data you can delete it and on the app it’s under Profile on the top left where you can Delete Account.

Ah I would always tread very carefully when importing and exporting cars. I remember when I went to buy an Apple Watch Cellular in the USA and almost got caught out. Basically and to simplify it the best I can, phones are one of the only devices out there that can “roam” on other networks in countries far from home. However lots of other devices and cars cannot, they are only ever designed to work in the country that they were designed for. This is due to the very complex nature of signal frequencies in each country. Some for example may work in UK and Europe but go any further round the world and you may find it won’t work at all. Really sorry as I’ve never imported / exported a car the only thing I can suggest is that you contact Mercedes and see if they can offer any support on it to see if anything can be done.
Hey Nick - great videos as always. Just learned that with the demise of 3G mobile we have lost key features on the Mercedes Me app for my 2018 E220 such as remote services lock/unlock. Mercedes said there is no alternative solution or 3rd party solutions. Any comments ?
Hey @gavinwestley6102, ah yes I heard the UK was switching off 3G this year. I feel it’s too early! They should keep it going for at least a couple more years. I don’t the people in charge of network infrastructure understand the implications of doing it…card readers (once you pay with at pay terminals in shops) often use 3G, cars and all sorts of devices like phones can be affected by such a change.
I wish it was full screen too but there are other manufacturers who have come across the same issue before. The reason is because MBUX (also known as NTG 6) on Mercedes is available in two screen sizes, 7” & 10.25”. When designing and coding I’m led to believe that you can only choose one (to maintain compatibility) for everything. So to make sure it works on all models, Mercedes of course had to go with the 7” version, which is perfect for 7” owners but of course leads to a cropped experience if you have a 10.25” screen. NTG 7 found in some new cars have higher faster processors and have one screen size leading to a full screen experience on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Hope that explains potentially why it’s like that on some cars!
Im just setting up Mercedes me. In order to do say it requires u to “activate services” on the app. U can either select to activate all free services or select to activate individually from a long list. Would u recommend activating all or selecting only specific services?
Sadly it depends where you live :( I’ve never seen remote start before on Mercedes here in the UK. I’ve heard it exists elsewhere for example in the USA. The app is a paid for service, it’s called the Remote Package, usually free of charge for a set time for 2-3 years from the first day it’s registered. 3 years is for the UK though 🤓
No sadly not that’s a safety feature! I guess the only way you could do this is to open the door, foot on brake, release handbrake manually then shift into drive. But why did you need to do this anyway? Just curious! 😅
Hi Nick, I have GLE 250d 2018 night pack but don’t have remote lock/unlock on Mercedes me app though I get notification of “your vehicle is unlocked. Do you want to lock your vehicle?” How can I find whether my car has that function?
Best thing to do is log onto the Mercedes me store to check compatibility. Not all models of Mercedes can use Mercedes me because of the 3G networks being switched off in the UK from what I’ve read. I believe that notifications are sent when the car can’t communicate which would be explain why if that is the case. If you get stuck just chat with Mercedes me support from the app. Tap Menu then Help and then Contact Support. They’ve helped me before 🤓
Hey Adrian, sadly it’s not available in all cars worldwide and is country specific. If it is available where you live, sign into the app and if it’s listed under the Manage Services section they it’ll work. It’s not available in the UK though and is only available for Plug-in Hybrids and Electric Cars as they have an additional auxiliary heater.
Hi Nick my c250 keeps locking me out drivers door only. Can you do a video on his to fix that? It's not mechanical as it works most of the time just on occasion won't let me in . As I say, passenger door is fine
Locking you out? So there is a setting on the key where you can program it to only unlock the driver’s door which I’ve covered on a Mercedes key tips and tricks video. But if you’re having problems getting in or getting out, I’d definitely recommend getting in touch with Mercedes to check it out!
@@npoleary Nick thanks for your reply but if I disable the passenger door so it only opens the drivers door and then won't open im completely stuck? I have managed to open it manually by removing the plastic key cover but as it was intermittent I wanted to ask you what in your opinion could be causing it

Hi Nick, Love your video's. I just purchased a CLA 45s 2021 about 2 weeks ago. It was second hand with just over 20k. I havent been driving the car much as l have been overseas since purchasing and only driving into work twice a week. Commute to work is around 40km each way. The app showed critical as l was setting up all displays etc.I drove to work 40km it went to partial but the start stop still didn't work. I drove home thinking the start stop would start working again but it didn't. App is still showing partically charged and start stop still didn't work. Do you think it would be the battery that needs to be changed ? Surely after driving 2 hours, 1 hour each way it should be fully charged ? Any thoughts
Hey Robert, thank you! Glad you enjoy them! I’d keep an eye on it but it can take quite a while for batteries to become fully charged with the amount of tech on them these days! To fully charge a battery via the mains (with sufficient charge already on it) it will usually take 4-6 hours at least. If it still shows this after a week or so, contact Mercedes and they can check it out for you. Hope that helps!
Ah you / or someone would have pressed allow when it was set up for the first time. Not sure how to do it on Android but on iPhone it’s under settings. Have a look on Android under Settings Apps Look for Mercedes me And Disable the Calendar (it won’t be on the app itself, it’ll be under the phone settings) If you can’t see it, have a look under Security & Privacy Privacy Permission Manager Have a look in Calendar there
Hi Nick, great video. Don't know if you can help but I paid £35 last year for an app that showed my vehicles location, it worked until last week and I was going to pay for it again but it is not showing as an available app on Mercedes Me, am I doing something wrong or have Mercedes stopped it. I don't really want the Guard 360, I've got a 2018 C300, old lady now but I don't want to change it yet.

Just bear in mind from the comments and replies on RUclips that I’ve read, the 3G network in the UK has been switched off now in 2023 so if your car had a 3G sim then this might be affected. If you go onto the app, there’s a Menu button, then help where you can call them 🤓 Hope that helps!
Ah it depends around the world, certain countries offer Mercedes me Digital Services where as some don’t. I can confirm it works in Europe, UK and USA for sure but others best to check.
As long as it’s not linked to someone already, press Home Mercedes me & Apps (or something similar) For newer versions of MBUX just start creating a new user 🤓

Mercedes me is the foundation of all Mercedes me Services. I believe it used to be called Mercedes me Connect which was the app but now it’s kind of just called Mercedes me from what I’ve seen

Would love it if MB did an update to the system. Last and only one I had was 2 years ago, surely there must be a tweak here and there? I guess they are more focused on the tablet sized screens now and now the rectangle on my dash board 😮
Hey Keith, if you have one the newer systems, you get bug fixes and security updates come through automatically. Map updates are available as long as you’re subscribed to the Navigation Package on Mercedes me too (map updates are usually free for 3 years from registration date).
Really sorry I only started covering Mercedes in 2020 so have limited coverage on models prior to that. I’m fairly certain though that the Mercedes app only works with models approx 2018 / 2019 onwards. But check with someone who works at Mercedes to be sure 🤓
Sadly this isn’t a thing available in the UK so I wouldn’t be able to test it. I would imagine you can’t for security though. If a remote start started the car, that’s the app turning the car on. But if you’re going to drive it, then the key would need to take over so it would need to stop and then start again. You’ll have to ask Mercedes for the exact reasoning but that’s just my logic and thought process 🤓👍🏼

I have just took delivery of my brand new GLC! I have set up Mercedes Me successfully and subscribed and have just received my new card in the post. It is asking me to activate my card but the instructions were unsuccessful and I have no idea on how to activate this. I’ve been on line, on the App and they all tell me to activate my card. But how? I’ve phoned the help desk who had no idea. This must be a simple way. Help.

I am having updating issues with the mercedes me app, techincal are trying to blame where i park my car to charge it, but its the same wherever i park! After driving the car its not updating the trip/range date. Any ideas as to what it could be??

Try Mercedes me Support first from the app, then if they can’t help after creating case numbers etc, I’d suggest visiting your local Mercedes and booking in to see a technician 🤓
Hi Nick, User I have a unique issue with the MBUX GPS system. I am not sure what could be the reason but the gps screen keeps on changing and the pointer turns into three blue circles ( one small circle , then another circle covering the small circle outline and then the third circle, that covers the outlines of the second one). There is also a white dot in the Center. Can you tell what could be the issue?
Hey sambakorea, I think I’ve done that before but seemed to recall it might have been when I was zooming in or out or something. Or something like moving the map round. I think COMAND had something like that before when you nudge the control wheel in the middle of the car and hold it
@@npoleary Thanks Nick for the quick reply. As always you are the my first point to discuss any issues with Mercedes. I am even wondering if the issue caused by driving or parking assist activation?? In my car, these features were not active (I guess due to automatic updates due to UN R79).I made it active by the local dealer during the service maintenance. Will try to deactivate and try. Not 100% sure if this resolve the problem but will ask them to give it a try. Question- I don’t see any parties mentioning on the un site about the obligation of a Canadian vehicles to this rule but still surprised when the parking assist and lane chane assist got deactivated, sometimes in the recent past.
@@npoleary Hi Nick , the dealer technician found some fault on the overhead control system for the GPS issue. He replaced the whole overhead control unit and did the coding setup. It’s now working ok.

Hey Beni, really sorry it varies massively round the world. I’d suggest just speaking with Mercedes me Support from the app. Just be aware the app is subscription based so does need to be subscribed to, to operate. It’s usually free for the first few years from the car’s Reg date though.

But yes it is interesting as I’ve seen 3rd party websites offer ability to activate distronic for an a class via some coding and change of steering wheel buttons, so seems to ne that the a class is equipped with all the necessary hardware under the hood for adaptive cruise control but simply not activated or even provided as an option when configuring a new a class
Hi Nick , I use it , paid Remote and Sat Nav , but unfortunately from my phone I can use it only on Wi-Fi … when I am on 4G or 5G it says “connection lost” and can not connect at all . I tried to update , tried to contact Mercedes - they are “checking” since November 2022 , so I believe they will do nothing . Do you know why I can use the app only on Wi-Fi and do you have any solution/suggestion ? Thanks
There are issues from what I’ve read on RUclips with anyone on O2 Giffgaff Sky Mobile Tesco Luca Virgin They all use O2 apparently which has connection issues with Mercedes-Benz
I’d defo contact Mercedes me support from the app if you’re experiencing problems 👍🏼 They’ll be able to hopefully diagnose remotely if not recommend a visit to a Mercedes showroom for a closer look.
Have you spoken to Mercedes? They might be able to help. Or the Mercedes me app? There’s a contact support option on there I’ve used before. It all depends where you live as it’s not available everywhere from what I’ve heard from comments on my channel.
The Mercedes Me App WILL NOT ALLOW you to close open windows..I wanted to remote start my GLB 250 and although it showed that my 2 rear windows were open, the app would not let me close them.
It depends on the specification of the car and its year of release and of course where you’re based. As I always mention in my videos, specs vary massively round the world, check with your local Mercedes or Mercedes directly and they can let you know what’s on your car specifically. I wish the remote start was available everywhere but sadly not available in the UK, I think it is on some cars in the USA but you’ll have to check with them.
I miss my old Mercedes app on my older Mercedes when I updated to my new car I had to get the new version and I lost two of my favorite app functions the ability to have a widget on my home screen to start the car and also being able to use Siri with my homepod speakers or my phone to remotely start my car it was great to be able to get out of the shower impromptu my speaker to start my car without even having to pick up my phone
Tap Menu, Tap on your car to open the Garage and the swipe left to add another. Same rules apply, you may need to contact Mercedes to get it linked 🤓 or if the previous person has removed it from their account then you might be okay.
Hey Goran, yes it’s usually just those From Start and From Reset. I do recall seeing something once on a car under Home, Service, Consumption Behind the setting wheel on the instrument cluster. Think it was on a car with MBUX one of Mercedes’s latest multimedia systems.

I’ve noticed the different colours too! It’s because of the type of car, haven’t seen a pattern yet as to which colour is assigned to what 😅

We use our App all the time. Our favourite function is to send the Navigation Information to the car the night before our trip. Very easy to use and ready to go as soon as you start the car.

Saved me from locking the key in the boot. Great app 👏🏼
Two things. The remote start feature is great but after starting the car remotely, I want the ability to change the temp of the environment controls. At this point, you only get the temp it was set to when I was last in the car, but what if the weather drastically changed?
The only difference , in my opinion between geo fencing and valet protect seems to be the method of and how much range you can "box" the car in. Otherwise, I really appreciate the notifications when the car starts.
The older version of the app (on my 2018 C43) had the ability to set the temperature with the remote start. Not sure why they got rid of this feature. It was super useful!

Hi Nick, great videos. Love my Merc E class. But I do get frustrated when it defaults back to Comfort mode even if you just turn if off for a couple of seconds. How can I make it default to the last mode such as Eco?
Thank you! I wish it could stay in a default mode too but all manufactures have to start in their default mode which in Mercedes is Comfort. You can change it straight afterward if you want to.

I manually add each “click” which looks like a white bubble of waves when I tap.
I use Final Cut Pro to do this and a plug in from Motion VFX. Probably takes a min per tap to line it up.

Hi Nick, I’m a daily user of Mercedes Me! Put on a full set of new tyres today and then charged my EQC to 60%. Merc Me app now shows 139mi range and 259mi range at 70% max charge level!! I wish this was true as I would love to have 370mi range at 100%😅

Seems like Mercedes Me app is now stuck on 259mi range for all charging % ie 70%, 80% and 100% all show 259mi range
Sometimes Mercedes Me takes a bit of time to update - check your main screen to see how current the info is. The best way to update it is to Search for the car, or open the windows / flash the lights from within the app. The max range your EQC will have in summer will be about 240 miles (that's what ours said on a 140 mile round trip yesterday) - again, this prediction depends on your recent driving style.

Geofencing is when the car actually enters or leaves an area where as Valet Protect can be if the ignition is switched on / off too

Depends if you’re going to use it but I guess if you’re not then you can always just let them expire. You can renew them any when on the Mercedes me store 🤓
Remember that if you do, they stay with the car 🚗 so if you sell, the remainder of the subscription goes to the next person.

Hi nick. Just been looking at setting this up for my car but im concerned over automatic software updates as my car has been remapped. Can this effect the system like that or is more for other systems on the car? Cheers.
Automatic updates as far as I know only update the multimedia system however I’m not 100% sure on this so you might have to ask Mercedes on that one as to the full scope on what they can update over the air.
In theory they could supply updates to other components so in that situation might be best to have them off.

Once again, very helpful. Would you know if older cars with Mercedes Me Connect (2019+), will they ever be able to have any of these additional features made available on the app? Ie., my 2019 e450 saloon does not have te option to close the windows, it simply just alerts me that it is open but i can only close it by being inside the car.

Ah once a car is linked, it’ll show you everything that’s possible on the Mercedes me services page that’s compatible with the car. To date I haven’t seen anything added so I’m guessing that’s how they are based on the tech in the car.
Great video I’ve just got a brand new merc but even though Mercedes me is linked and loads of services activated they aren’t showing in the more section, also Mercedes me is say vehicle position is currently unavailable….any ideas?

In the app, Press Menu, Help and then Contact Support. I would guess if you don’t get anywhere with that bit or if they can’t help, just contact a Mercedes dealership and someone would be able to check it out.

Hey Katherine, really sorry I’ve never been able to try that feature out. It literally doesn’t exist here in the UK.
Only certain countries have it. There’s Pre-Entry Climate Control for Hybrids and EV’s which I guess is similar but that’s about it.
The only icons I see below the box after pressing "more", are owner's info and "over the air updates". I would really like remote start. Do I need to further register with a dealership or is my 2020 GLC300 not eligible for remote start? Thank you so very much from Atlanta.
Really sorry you’ll have to ask Mercedes what functions will be available. If it’s the same as Mercedes dealers here, yes if you buy a car from somewhere you’ll need to register it with them.
Remote start doesn’t exist here in the UK but I’ve heard and read on RUclips comments that the USA does. No idea what models, years and specifications though.

Hi Nick. I used your videos to get familiar with all the features of my new EQB, very useful! There is one thing I can not seem to get working. i even don't know if it is possible. I have an account / profile on my phone, and it syncs with mprofile in the car perfectly. I created a profile in the car for my wife. It appears in the app as a local profile (and in the car the 'me' symbol is not shown on the profile), but how can we activate this profile on her phone? Now it seems she is still changing my settings, not hers (in the top right my profile is always shown as owner).

I know the previous multimedia system MBUX NTG 6 (ones with a touchpad) only allow one profile to sync. However it sounds like the newer version might sync more than one!

See - my reply above. You need a cellular connection for the car - parking in a black spot will stop updating. Also, to update, try Searching for the car, or sending a command from the app to open windows or flash the lights.

It depends on the specification of your Mercedes if you can put the Sat Nav on both screens. Sadly not all cars can do it but if you chat with your local Mercedes they can let you know what yours can do 🤓
Are the Newer Mercedes 4G capable? If so what year does it change over? I'm in Australia and just bought a 2019 E53 AMG coupe and it has the MercedesMe feature, but 3G network is about to shut down this year. Any chance of upgrading the older 3G units?
Some are, and I think some even have 5G too!
I believe there is a way to check on the Mercedes me Store (not sure if it’s the same worldwide) but might be best to check with Mercedes and they can let you know if it’s compatible.
Sadly no once a car is built it cannot be changed from what I’ve heard.

Hi Nick. excellent vlog, as usual, thank you. I just had put a £10 bet on with my local Mercedes agent that my brand new GLE450D AMG Line Plus must have remote start capabilities. They said no mercedes cars have this feature, whihc I know is incorrect. i find this very difficult to belive as almost every car in the UK from a certain trim up, has this feature. Do you happen to know what the real story is please?

No sadly any petrol or diesel in Mercedes does not have remote start in the UK.
I’ve heard it’s different elsewhere in other countries.
However if a car has an auxiliary heater or heat pump (like on EV’s, plug-in hybrids or selected Marco Polos) then you can turn the heating or cooling on, but no remote start.

Hi Nick. My S class doesn't seem to be able to open the window or carry out any of the extra functions- such as turning heated windshield on, open sun roof etc except the lock and unlock forget. Any suggestions. It's a late 17/early 18 face lift model. Many thanks
Really sorry I only started producing videos on Mercedes in 2020 so have limited coverage on cars prior to that. Most models will only do the unlock and lock though so that’s normal. Some of the newer ones allow window ventilation but I’d imagine that would be on the facelift S-Class. Probably due to the newer multimedia system.
For heating that’s only cars that have an auxiliary heater so hybrids or electric cars.

To delete a Mercedes me account, log into the account via the app or website and head over to the profile section. On the website under My Data you can delete it and on the app it’s under Profile on the top left where you can Delete Account.

Ah I would always tread very carefully when importing and exporting cars. I remember when I went to buy an Apple Watch Cellular in the USA and almost got caught out.
Basically and to simplify it the best I can, phones are one of the only devices out there that can “roam” on other networks in countries far from home. However lots of other devices and cars cannot, they are only ever designed to work in the country that they were designed for. This is due to the very complex nature of signal frequencies in each country. Some for example may work in UK and Europe but go any further round the world and you may find it won’t work at all.
Really sorry as I’ve never imported / exported a car the only thing I can suggest is that you contact Mercedes and see if they can offer any support on it to see if anything can be done.

Hey @gavinwestley6102, ah yes I heard the UK was switching off 3G this year. I feel it’s too early! They should keep it going for at least a couple more years.
I don’t the people in charge of network infrastructure understand the implications of doing it…card readers (once you pay with at pay terminals in shops) often use 3G, cars and all sorts of devices like phones can be affected by such a change.
Some splendid features, but they can't make Apple Carplay bigger than 7 inches wide on a 10 inch screen on a 2022 GLA Premium Plus 4Matic?
I wish it was full screen too but there are other manufacturers who have come across the same issue before.
The reason is because MBUX (also known as NTG 6) on Mercedes is available in two screen sizes, 7” & 10.25”. When designing and coding I’m led to believe that you can only choose one (to maintain compatibility) for everything.
So to make sure it works on all models, Mercedes of course had to go with the 7” version, which is perfect for 7” owners but of course leads to a cropped experience if you have a 10.25” screen.
NTG 7 found in some new cars have higher faster processors and have one screen size leading to a full screen experience on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Hope that explains potentially why it’s like that on some cars!
Im just setting up Mercedes me. In order to do say it requires u to “activate services” on the app. U can either select to activate all free services or select to activate individually from a long list. Would u recommend activating all or selecting only specific services?
Oh I would just activate all unless you were a company and wanted to limit what employees had access to etc

I’ve never seen remote start before on Mercedes here in the UK. I’ve heard it exists elsewhere for example in the USA.
The app is a paid for service, it’s called the Remote Package, usually free of charge for a set time for 2-3 years from the first day it’s registered. 3 years is for the UK though 🤓

No sadly not that’s a safety feature!
I guess the only way you could do this is to open the door, foot on brake, release handbrake manually then shift into drive.

Best thing to do is log onto the Mercedes me store to check compatibility. Not all models of Mercedes can use Mercedes me because of the 3G networks being switched off in the UK from what I’ve read.
I believe that notifications are sent when the car can’t communicate which would be explain why if that is the case.
If you get stuck just chat with Mercedes me support from the app. Tap Menu then Help and then Contact Support. They’ve helped me before 🤓

Hey Adrian, sadly it’s not available in all cars worldwide and is country specific.
If it is available where you live, sign into the app and if it’s listed under the Manage Services section they it’ll work.
It’s not available in the UK though and is only available for Plug-in Hybrids and Electric Cars as they have an additional auxiliary heater.

Hi Nick my c250 keeps locking me out drivers door only. Can you do a video on his to fix that? It's not mechanical as it works most of the time just on occasion won't let me in . As I say, passenger door is fine
Locking you out? So there is a setting on the key where you can program it to only unlock the driver’s door which I’ve covered on a Mercedes key tips and tricks video.
But if you’re having problems getting in or getting out, I’d definitely recommend getting in touch with Mercedes to check it out!

Hi Nick, Love your video's. I just purchased a CLA 45s 2021 about 2 weeks ago. It was second hand with just over 20k. I havent been driving the car much as l have been overseas since purchasing and only driving into work twice a week. Commute to work is around 40km each way. The app showed critical as l was setting up all displays etc.I drove to work 40km it went to partial but the start stop still didn't work. I drove home thinking the start stop would start working again but it didn't. App is still showing partically charged and start stop still didn't work. Do you think it would be the battery that needs to be changed ? Surely after driving 2 hours, 1 hour each way it should be fully charged ? Any thoughts

I’d keep an eye on it but it can take quite a while for batteries to become fully charged with the amount of tech on them these days!
To fully charge a battery via the mains (with sufficient charge already on it) it will usually take 4-6 hours at least.
If it still shows this after a week or so, contact Mercedes and they can check it out for you.

Ah you / or someone would have pressed allow when it was set up for the first time. Not sure how to do it on Android but on iPhone it’s under settings.

Hi Nick, great video. Don't know if you can help but I paid £35 last year for an app that showed my vehicles location, it worked until last week and I was going to pay for it again but it is not showing as an available app on Mercedes Me, am I doing something wrong or have Mercedes stopped it. I don't really want the Guard 360, I've got a 2018 C300, old lady now but I don't want to change it yet.

Just bear in mind from the comments and replies on RUclips that I’ve read, the 3G network in the UK has been switched off now in 2023 so if your car had a 3G sim then this might be affected.
If you go onto the app, there’s a Menu button, then help where you can call them 🤓

I hear it doesn't work with 2019 a200 model. When contacting Mercedes in NZ, they suggested this feature dint exist.
Ah it depends around the world, certain countries offer Mercedes me Digital Services where as some don’t. I can confirm it works in Europe, UK and USA for sure but others best to check.

Hey Alan, where abouts are you based? In the UK, if a Mercedes is newer than 2018 ish, then you should be able to connect it up.
My own w206 doesn't start remotely. I thought this feature was standard. But it seems now that it is an extra. What a pitty! 😢

Hi Nick, how do I activate location tracking on my 2018 model Merc. The app says vehicle location is currently unavailable and should be activated in your vehicle
It might be best to check with Mercedes on that one, I’ve heard from a few comments of RUclips that various countries have switched off their 3G network infrastructure which might affect its function.
Either chat with a dealer or chat with Mercedes me Support from that app and they’ll be able to help.
On that app, press MENU, HELP, CONTACT SUPPORT (then call)

If you head over to the Mercedes me store it’ll let you know what’s available for your car (just make sure you’re signed in).
Sadly it’s not available everywhere round the world, for the UK most of the Mercedes me app is free of charge for the first 3 years, just depends on the car you have 🤓
If you get stuck there’s a Help section on the app where you can message or call Mercedes and they’ll be able to help 👍🏼 it’s on the menu at the top
My glb250 doesnt show me the key deactivation and some of the other options do not show. Do you know why? Is 2023 and in usa. Thank you

Mercedes me is the foundation of all Mercedes me Services.
I believe it used to be called Mercedes me Connect which was the app but now it’s kind of just called Mercedes me from what I’ve seen

Ah you’ll have to chat to them, there are different apps in the USA. The whole cars and specs are completely different

Hey Keith, if you have one the newer systems, you get bug fixes and security updates come through automatically.
Map updates are available as long as you’re subscribed to the Navigation Package on Mercedes me too (map updates are usually free for 3 years from registration date).
So I have a c43 2017 but the Mercedesme app won’t work on it what should I do?
Really sorry I only started covering Mercedes in 2020 so have limited coverage on models prior to that.
I’m fairly certain though that the Mercedes app only works with models approx 2018 / 2019 onwards. But check with someone who works at Mercedes to be sure 🤓

Yes you can, plug and play usually. It should just work when you plug it in

I use it to start my car remotely but it turns off when I open the car door, is there a way to stop that ???
Sadly this isn’t a thing available in the UK so I wouldn’t be able to test it.
I would imagine you can’t for security though. If a remote start started the car, that’s the app turning the car on. But if you’re going to drive it, then the key would need to take over so it would need to stop and then start again.
You’ll have to ask Mercedes for the exact reasoning but that’s just my logic and thought process 🤓👍🏼

It depends on the car, availability of Mercedes me and if you have a valid subscription, so I’d suggest reaching out to Mercedes me Support and see if they can help.

I've got a 2023 V class and it days that the position display has been deactivated in the vehicle.
Any idea how i do that? Ive looked through the menus in the car and cant see that option..

I have just took delivery of my brand new GLC! I have set up Mercedes Me successfully and subscribed and have just received my new card in the post. It is asking me to activate my card but the instructions were unsuccessful and I have no idea on how to activate this. I’ve been on line, on the App and they all tell me to activate my card. But how? I’ve phoned the help desk who had no idea. This must be a simple way. Help.

I am having updating issues with the mercedes me app, techincal are trying to blame where i park my car to charge it, but its the same wherever i park! After driving the car its not updating the trip/range date. Any ideas as to what it could be??

Try Mercedes me Support first from the app, then if they can’t help after creating case numbers etc, I’d suggest visiting your local Mercedes and booking in to see a technician 🤓

I have a unique issue with the MBUX GPS system. I am not sure what could be the reason but the gps screen keeps on changing and the pointer turns into three blue circles ( one small circle , then another circle covering the small circle outline and then the third circle, that covers the outlines of the second one). There is also a white dot in the Center. Can you tell what could be the issue?
Hey sambakorea, I think I’ve done that before but seemed to recall it might have been when I was zooming in or out or something. Or something like moving the map round.
I think COMAND had something like that before when you nudge the control wheel in the middle of the car and hold it
@@npoleary Thanks Nick for the quick reply. As always you are the my first point to discuss any issues with Mercedes. I am even wondering if the issue caused by driving or parking assist activation?? In my car, these features were not active (I guess due to automatic updates due to UN R79).I made it active by the local dealer during the service maintenance. Will try to deactivate and try. Not 100% sure if this resolve the problem but will ask them to give it a try. Question- I don’t see any parties mentioning on the un site about the obligation of a Canadian vehicles to this rule but still surprised when the parking assist and lane chane assist got deactivated, sometimes in the recent past.
@@npoleary Hi Nick , the dealer technician found some fault on the overhead control system for the GPS issue. He replaced the whole overhead control unit and did the coding setup. It’s now working ok.

Hey Beni, really sorry it varies massively round the world. I’d suggest just speaking with Mercedes me Support from the app.
Just be aware the app is subscription based so does need to be subscribed to, to operate. It’s usually free for the first few years from the car’s Reg date though.

@@npoleary it’s on the a class launch edition, haven’t checked to see if it’s on any of the other a class versions but I’d assume it was. But yes it is interesting as I’ve seen 3rd party websites offer ability to activate distronic for an a class via some coding and change of steering wheel buttons, so seems to ne that the a class is equipped with all the necessary hardware under the hood for adaptive cruise control but simply not activated or even provided as an option when configuring a new a class

Hi Nick , I use it , paid Remote and Sat Nav , but unfortunately from my phone I can use it only on Wi-Fi … when I am on 4G or 5G it says “connection lost” and can not connect at all . I tried to update , tried to contact Mercedes - they are “checking” since November 2022 , so I believe they will do nothing . Do you know why I can use the app only on Wi-Fi and do you have any solution/suggestion ? Thanks

The Mercedes Me App WILL NOT ALLOW you to close open windows..I wanted to remote start my GLB 250 and although it showed that my 2 rear windows were open, the app would not let me close them.
It depends on the specification of the car and its year of release and of course where you’re based. As I always mention in my videos, specs vary massively round the world, check with your local Mercedes or Mercedes directly and they can let you know what’s on your car specifically.
I wish the remote start was available everywhere but sadly not available in the UK, I think it is on some cars in the USA but you’ll have to check with them.

I miss my old Mercedes app on my older Mercedes when I updated to my new car I had to get the new version and I lost two of my favorite app functions the ability to have a widget on my home screen to start the car and also being able to use Siri with my homepod speakers or my phone to remotely start my car it was great to be able to get out of the shower impromptu my speaker to start my car without even having to pick up my phone

Same rules apply, you may need to contact Mercedes to get it linked 🤓 or if the previous person has removed it from their account then you might be okay.
