Reading some of the other comments about scarcity of chips makes me feel sorry I can’t donate mine to them who need it more.😇 Mind you, I was most grateful for it when I accidentally pressed the ‘Open Boot’ on the key fob unknowingly in my house and it informed me on my mobile in the first week of getting it. Its crazy that after a year they take the unlock feature from the app this should be permanent not a payed service its like bmw trying to charge for heated seats 🤔
Mercedes me Digital Extras always have a cost for them because they utilise a data connection going from the car across the mobile phone network. In the UK, Mercedes offer some Digital Extras free for 3 years from the car’s registration date but as with all manufacturers, they are chargeable after that point. But I would add, only renew the ones that you actually want or are using. If you don’t use the app, then I wouldn’t worry too much about it 👍🏼

There are drivers' schools to teach advanced driving skills on a race track or similarly authorized [exempt] grounds. But a modern Mercedes is in major part, computer. These videos are, then, drivers' school for advanced Mercedes Mastery! I mean, much is Mercedes genius at making it transparent, shifting for you, adjusting vehicle height for you, braking for you, talking you to your destination points, traction control, steering, etc., all as if you were at the wheel of a 1960's car and knew how to drive well. Virtually anyone can hop in and drive a Mercedes, on day one. But there's a lot that must be learned about all the optional computer accessories, if you will, to make full use of your not inconsiderable MSRP.
Love these videos thank you and I love the Mercedes ME app, I use it all the time. My GLE AMG has more stuff than I know how to work and after watching your videos have learnt tips and tricks. I would love a video on the rear entertainment and the tablet as in Australia it won’t connect to the internet and not sure how to work it all

I’m in New Zealand and just checked out the excellence package…i know it may vary from car to car and country etc …you show it as 12.31 for 12 months and 56.58 for 36 months . Well for my gls400d it’s showing 278.38 for 12 months and 655.16 for 36 months …that’s ridiculous variation…more than 11 times the price of uk for the 36 month package
Ah that was for a renewal of a car that already had stuff for a few years. It would have just renewed one small thing. What you described sounds right if it had expired.

Thank you for all your informative videos Nick! They've really helped get the most out of my just bought 2019 c-class. Do you know where the live traffic gets its data from? I use Waze a lot and it's usually quite fast to pick up on queues due to accidents and similar. Could I expect a similar experience from MB live traffic or will that be slower to pick up those things?
Thanks bsimonson80, glad you’re loving the videos! Live Traffic comes from TomTom in most cases and is very accurate. Waze however is quite unique as it can be installed on everyone’s phone and offers community based reporting so things may appear slightly faster on that one.
Nick, I have a question for you. Does the Mercedes range turn off the Air Con when you open the sun roof? I'm not a fan of cooling the planet unnecessary so was wondering where the motors were smart enough to turn off the AC under such conditions. Looking for info on the E-Class specifically.
Hey Brian, no it won’t turn off the A/C automatically. I guess it’s in case you were de-misting in the morning or something. Same goes for the windows, if you open the windows, you’ll just need to toggle the A/C off.

Just spent 52 grand on a Mercedes. Dealer says no Mercedes me due to no chips. Apparently very few Mercedes currently have Mercedes me due to this! I was told it would be rectified although now I’ve paid the dealer is not as optimistic as before as to when it will be fixed

Hey Rajet, yes I have heard of this before but sadly not available in the UK :( These services in the UK quite simply bring car park info to the Sat Nav and the Mercedes me app.

Thank you! I wish it was full screen too but there are other manufacturers who have come across the same issue before. The reason is because MBUX is available in two screen sizes, 7” & 10.25”. When designing and coding I’m led to believe that you can only choose one (to maintain compatibility) for everything. So to make sure it works on all models, Mercedes of course had to go with the 7” version, which is perfect for 7” owners but of course leads to a cropped experience if you have a 10.25” screen. Fingers crossed that future models have a workaround for this 🤞🏼

The tracker function in the car (bottom right of the app) is for you to see the car’s location. However Stolen Vehicle Help is to report your car as stolen. As long as you have this service before the event happens (must be purchased in advance) you can ring the police, get a crime reference number and report it via the app. Then the Mercedes me team will provide tracking info to the police. Ah okay, sadly there isn’t a way to add it as Apple CarPlay came out around that time from Apple and then came out in C-Class from 2019 onwards on it’s facelift. Navigation maps do show the speed limits though 🤓
Could you explain the difference between a premium model car to a premium plus model i just ordered a new e class premium plus model vehicle but they look very similar.
Probably best to chat to someone who works at Mercedes and they can help 🤓 It depends on the car, the year it was made and all sorts. I get all of my info from Mercedes eBrochures but I have also archived brochures for anything that I might need to refer to. Plus again my local dealer can help with any questions that I need clarifying before I make a video 🤓

Hey Shuja, have you spoken with Mercedes me Support yet? If you haven’t, I wouldn’t skip that step…it could be as something simple as you not accepting Terms of Use on your account or it could be an issue with Mercedes me in Germany. To get it sorted, I’d phone them first, after that if it can’t be sorted remotely then speak with your local Mercedes dealership who can get the car booked in and check it out in person.
I have the navigation with parking for app. Supposed to find parking spots . Can you explain it Because I see no difference with this service. Thank you
For Mercedes me on the app? When you tap on P, it’ll show you all of the available car parks nearby, very useful if you’re in a city you don’t know. You can do the same in the car too. Some models I spotted can even acquire data and capture on demand live parallel parking spaces and car parks too. Some of them will show you the level of occupancy as well.
Not too long ago Mercedes updated the packages and bungled them together. Example, the remote package was £29 a year about a year ago. Now it’s bundled with other things that are no good to me and costs £68 a year! 😳 Going to miss the remote package 😔
Hey Sham, yes they were separate a while ago, it used to be called Vehicle Set Up & Vehicle Monitoring Vehicle Set up on it’s own was that price but they’re bundled together now in the remote package, so you can now locate the car on a map too 🤓
Guard 360: So if I am asleep at 2am and someone manages to break in and steal it, then what? Will they try to locate the car whilst I'm fast asleep? Or do I have to push a button on my phone to start the process? If that's the case, I wouldn't be waking up until about 6 30am in which case, it would be too late.
Well yes on this you’d have to click the Report as Stolen button 👍🏼 Never bought it or tried it so not entirely sure what will happen! Have a look a company called Tracker or Meta Track who can offer more robust solutions which would help in that situation you described 🤓
Hi Nick I find Mercedes Me OK, especially the Dash Cam. What I don't like is that it keeps logging me out after a few days. Not helpful if driving, especially for Live Navigation. Any ideas?

the report to the police does not make a difference because if you report to the police they will give a reference and look for it. however, tracking the car on the map, alarm and lock it by the phone is a very good and secure option.
Yeah defo! Just be aware that the standard “Remote Package” where you can use the app and locate it on a map, the tracking function can be toggled off by the driver. So not officially a tracker 👍🏼
Can I ask, there’s a new entertainment package ( apple , amazon) where you can play on the system without using Apple play. Can’t get it to work tho any advice please

Thanks for the video. I have purchased most of the packages but sitting on fence about urban guard package. Do Mercedes use GPS for tracking the car? If yes then I am not sure becuase thieves can use GPS blockers easily if they are clever enough to steal the car?
Hey G Cheema, yes it just uses GPS. I have heard of thieves before purchasing blockers or jammers so if you were concerned I’d consider getting an actual Tracker from a company called Tracker. They can install devices into cars that utilises other frequencies like VHF alongside GPS. This means that if someone blocked GPS, the signal would still get through.
@@gcheema5037 Also, the Mercedes Urban Tracker service stops working if your vehicle is not found within a specified time. That, and the restriction that it doesn't activate straight away (why? **) stopped me choosing this - I just went for Tracker (although significantly more expensive - it also uses RF tracking). ** You can guarantee that your car would be stolen within the restricted time within which Mercedes refuse to activate the urban Guard package!!
If a package is available free for 3 years from registration of car and you purchase said car say at the beginning of year 2, are there discounts available to let a new owner get a 3 year period of the packages?

Not sure about the vin datacard but they’re attached to the car. So for example if you buy Live Traffic Information for 3 years and sell the car in 2 years, the next owner would get 1 year of the remaining amount. So any features that tells you that you will need to spend more money for "maintenance" or else your warranty is void is free. And any features that you had already paid for when you purchased the vehicle that are actually useful to you that are already capable have been disabled and requires an endless subscription fee. Hey Katie, most Mercedes me services are free for the first 3 years in the UK and then subscription based after that. I’m sure that all manufacturers that I’ve had the chance to drive are similar.
I use Mercedes me a lot. and the only thing I don't have is the smartphone integration as I have no need for it. my satnav is kept up to date and everything works as it should. I do have one question for you Nick that my local dealer never answered, If I have purchased Mercedes Me apps and I change to a different model of Mercedes can I transfer them to my new car?.
Hey Ronnie, ah awesome! Yes you don’t have to use Smartphone Integration, kind of a user preference if you wanted to use it or not. So sadly you can’t transfer Mercedes me services, they stay with the car so make sure you factor that in before purchasing any etc. Say for example you purchased a 3 year subscription to the Remote Package and sold your car a year later, the next owner would get the 2 years left on the subscription.
Hi Nick, great videos' quick question, I have an EQC, from the app you can turn on the Pre-Entry climate control, if you go into 'Temperature' it gives you the option of 'Zone' and 'Seat. With the seat option it gives you the option to turn the seat heaters on and off and then an option to control 'drivers seat only', my issue is that even if I turn the seat heater to 'On' turn the Pre- Entry on, when I get to the car (its winter here in NZ) the car is nicely warmed up BUT the seat heaters do not turn on even though they say on from the App, my local dealer tells me that it is an 'app' issue, have you tried this?

No sadly Mercedes dealerships aren’t officially allowed to install specification to cars after they’ve been made. They’re only allowed to sell cars as they’re described on their spec sheets.
When I ordered my car I ordered the dash cam and augmented reality but neither were noted on arrival. I was informed that these features would be activated one the retrofitting become available. However, augmented reality and the dash cam wasn’t shown as active after the retrofitting. Can these apps be installed or activated after at the dealership?

Mercedes Me was introduced in 2019. That's for anyone who might be wondering if theirs has it. "When was Mercedes Me introduced" was the top Google search phrase.
Mercedes me first appeared in 2016 on a few models and then rolled out to others over the coming years. Sadly though in the USA and UK, the government decided to shut down 3G masts and networks which meant that anything older than approx 2019 may have reduced Mercedes me services or none at all. It might be different for other countries though 👍🏼
@@npoleary ---- Thanks for that info. I just scanned the Google article that said 2019. Mercedes lines confuse me ... C Class then CLX and CLK and Mercedes C 63 and Mercedes S Class with S 350 and S 450 and S 550 then S 55 and SL 55 Roadster and E Class and G Class ... some with some options and some without, and all hard to find in anything other than silver grey black ... gene sequencing is probably easier. I have yet to find some article that lists all the different models for each year. Now they're rolling out cars with batteries included. Nice cars, to say the least, all of them, but sometimes I get the feeling it's a matter of closing your eyes and buying whatever is in the showroom, then opening them to see what you got!
In a nutshell (and oversimplified) Compact Cars: A-Class, B-Class, CLA, GLA, GLB Saloons A-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class Estates CLA, C-Class, E-Class SUVs GLA, GLB, GLC, GLE GLS, G-Class Coupes CLA, CLE Convertibles CLE, SL MPV’s V-Class, Marco Polo Now I did mention, it’s oversimplified and there are some crossovers to each model and all of them aren’t listed here. For example you can get a saloon A-Class and hatchback. And you can also get coupe SUVs for some like the GLC and GLE too! But hopefully might give you an idea! Also all of the numbers after the model of car are just like an engine variant. The higher the number, the faster it is. After the engine number, so for example A220d “d” is for diesel Hope that helps 😎
@@npoleary --- Thank you for the abbreviated overview. Another point of view helps with perspective. I think the problem I'm running into is name change from year to year, as in AMG SL 63 which was apparently discontinued in 2019 (or thereabouts) and apparently "replaced' with the AMG S 63 (I believe that was 2021). It seems that those two models are very similar, differing by year and production run, but with the same engine and basic configuration (as far as my limited knowledge permits me to guess). I think a similar name change was instituted for the SL 550 and the AMG S 55. Additionally, there is mix-and-match of physical features, such as the windbreakers on the cabriolet models. In most, those are button operated, but in the Roadster models (with the groceries only back seats) there is a physical manually installed screen. It's too easy to get "spoiled" by Mercedes: "Manual wind screen?? You mean there's no button?? OMG!" Then of course there's my personal problem of not being as bright as I imagine, probably best illustrated graphically when I took a Mustang GT convertible to a car wash. I had the top up, and the windows up as I drove through ... not thinking that the side pressure spray would shoot into the car and wash me, too. There were two inches of soapy water in the rear plastic liner where the top stores when down. "Ha ha. Yes, bright lad, that one! Look, he's dripping wet!"

Wait, so does the Mercedes Me Button work for roadside assistance in the case of a puncture then? I've got a new A-Class and had no idea? am I covered 24/7 for a tow truck wherever in the country, completely free of charge? If so then I'll just cancel my roadside assistance plan
Hey Shagster, yes all Mercedes in the UK receive 30 years breakdown cover also known as Roadside Assistance with one catch. Basically as long as it is serviced in line with Mercedes-Benz’s recommended servicing then it’ll be renewed automatically every year. This applies to the UK so not sure what it’s like elsewhere, sorry hard to tell where everyone’s from in RUclips comments! 😅
Nick, sorry to bother you but have a question. Recently had a puncture, got it fixed but having spent ages in the car, U can't change tyre pressure units to psi & can't get the Mercedes Me app to reset the Tyre pressure display & even tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. Any idea?

My mercedes Me is conflicting my sunroof.. after opening it, losing connection, I'm not able to close my sun roof again, not by app, nor manually.. .. car is 2 weeks old and has been to Mercedes service center already.. very fustratng

Hi Nick I would quite like to install the dashcam in my A35, but am I right in thinking the memory stick would have to be plugged into the socket near the phone pad and therefore I could no longer use Apple Car Play?
Hey Richard, yes the memory stick would need to be plugged in. Although there are two USB-C ports, MBUX almost suspends itself when Apple CarPlay is running so I’m not 100% sure if the Dashcam functionality would work while using Apple CarPlay.
How long does it take to download to your car? I bought the satnav digital extra yesterday and it's still not showing in the car. On the mercedes store app it says 'digital extra is currently being activated/enabled'...yet they're charging me from when i purchased it 🤨
Has the car started yet? I’d you’ve not switched the car on and driven for a while then the car won’t realise that you’ve bought the update. If it’s not that just speak to Mercedes me support and then’ll be able to help. On the app, Menu Help Contact Support Hope that helps!

It’s sadly not a one time purchase if it’s not listed. Virtually all Mercedes me services are subscription based with the exception of Apple CarPlay & Dashcam found on selected cars.
Please could someone answer me. I baught a 2020 GLC couoe from Germany (Navigation works in Europe) brinhing it in Tunisia (where i live) there is no map in the Navigation so its not usuful. Is there anyway to fix this problem. I know i could use android app navigation but i really want to use it thru MBUX system. What could be the solution for me? Thanks in advance for yiur reply
Hey M T, most cars have either maps for a couple of countries or in Mercedes case it’s usually Europe maps. Car’s typically have USA maps, Europe Maps, Asia Maps etc I guess the only thing you can do is get in touch with your local Mercedes dealership who should be able to advise what you can do. They’ll probably need to upgrade the multimedia system or something
Hi I have bought the Remote Package and it states auxillary heating/ ventilation in the description however I dont see it on the app after purchasing. Also, the it states remote windows but it does not let me control them via the app? Does anyone know why?
Hey Adam, Auxiliary Heating and ventilation is only available if you have a Plug-in Hybrid or All-Electric car. As they have electric drivetrains, they also have an auxiliary heater because they don’t have an engine to make heat. Again with the windows, only certain models can operate the windows. Just make sure you’re signed in on the Mercedes me store and before purchasing it’ll show which ones are compatible

Emmanuel, I had this exact problem with my C Class and Mercedes Me help line got involved and were of no use whatsoever and kept me at a loose end for over three months. Eventually I lost my cool and had a rant at my local dealership where they booked the car in to do a diagnostic check. Ended up doing a complete hard reset of the Mercedes Me system on my car and hey presto, all working again. So far so good, the technician told me it may have been a failed or interruption during an over the air update that caused the system to get corrupted. My advice is to go to your dealer and show them my reply. Good luck….
Hey Emmanuel Godwin, Best thing to do is speak with Mercedes me Support first however then as Anthony suggested, after that then get in touch with your local dealership. Don’t skip the first step though as your car could be absolutely fine and it could be something to do with the Mercedes me end. It’ll only be a quick phone call and they’ll advise if it can be sorted over the phone. It can even be as something simple as the Terms of Use on Mercedes me not being accepted when you first created it. They’ll check it for you remotely. Of course if that can’t be sorted then get in touch with your local Mercedes dealership and then they’ll take a look on person.
@@npoleary Hi Nick, it sounds like I’m down on the Merc Me support line but unfortunately they really were very slow in responding to my problem all the way through my experience with them. Most emails took over a week to get a reply each time we communicated, that’s really not a great service imho. Hence the reason I went directly to the dealership in the end, wish I had earlier as the technicians at Sinclair Mercedes Swansea were great.
I find Mercedes Me totally useless. Whatever I ask it to do it says I haven’t created a PIN and must do so. I create a PIN and it says saved. I exit completely and start again. It again says I haven’t created a PIN so I attempt to do so and it then says you already have a PIN. Rinse and repeat amid swearing etc etc
Oh that’s strange Kiwi, that sounds like an issue with your Mercedes me account. I’d get in touch with Mercedes me support from the app and hopefully they can investigate remotely. An advanced step to potentially solve that yourself (and just thinking outside of the box), if you delete your Mercedes me account and create a new one again that may fix it. The only issue there is that you may have to get your local dealer to link your car again. Try Mercedes me support first though 🤓
Sad to say Mercedes Me support is NOT very good. I have repeatedly tried to get a second account linked to the car - and Support haven't a clue how to sort it out! It might be best to do it through your dealer.
Hey poptya, yes that’s right. If you haven’t purchased from a Mercedes dealership, they’ll just need to verify to give you access to all features 🤓 Usually a V5 document (in the UK) and driving licence is acceptable for that 👍🏼
Hey Greg, would be good if it were free for life but just like smartphones, but some cars connect to the internet to provide updates like for map updates. This requires a data transfer via the mobile phone network which of course costs. Most models get certain Mercedes me services for a set time from their registration date, usually 1-3 years depending on the service etc
It is a shame that Mercedes charge for basic services after a period. My E Class estate, CLS and now C-Class have all been brilliant but such money grabbing by Mercedes to charge for basic services is just too much. £40,000 plus should be enough to cover their profit for the life of the car. I will be looking elsewhere for my replacement vehicle.
Ah it’s not Mercedes as such all car manufacturers charge for remote services. It’s no different to iCloud for iPhones or Google for Android. The phone itself will of course work as it always has but there are extra features you can utilise to enhance the experience. Mercedes me services are all chargeable, they always have been since I’ve covered them on my channel for the past few years but Mercedes offer 3 years for free in the UK. Other manufacturers offer two in some instances where as some also offer 3 years, it just depends. For Live Traffic etc, if you’re after the free alternative, the best thing (if the car is compatible) is to use Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.
@@npoleary BMW have decided that their app based services will be free for the life of the car. I am currently researching exactly who charges after a free period, likely I will now buy a BMW 420 GranCoupe. I have 5gb of icloud on my iphone, free of charge, My iphone photos are backed up to both google and Amazon, all free of charge. My, unused for years, Garmin Satnav with inbuilt dashcam and live traffic has free updates for life. Many thanks for your reply ;-}

Mercedes me Digital Extras always have a cost for them because they utilise a data connection going from the car across the mobile phone network.
In the UK, Mercedes offer some Digital Extras free for 3 years from the car’s registration date but as with all manufacturers, they are chargeable after that point.
But I would add, only renew the ones that you actually want or are using. If you don’t use the app, then I wouldn’t worry too much about it 👍🏼

There are drivers' schools to teach advanced driving skills on a race track or similarly authorized [exempt] grounds. But a modern Mercedes is in major part, computer. These videos are, then, drivers' school for advanced Mercedes Mastery! I mean, much is Mercedes genius at making it transparent, shifting for you, adjusting vehicle height for you, braking for you, talking you to your destination points, traction control, steering, etc., all as if you were at the wheel of a 1960's car and knew how to drive well. Virtually anyone can hop in and drive a Mercedes, on day one. But there's a lot that must be learned about all the optional computer accessories, if you will, to make full use of your not inconsiderable MSRP.

I’m in New Zealand and just checked out the excellence package…i know it may vary from car to car and country etc …you show it as 12.31 for 12 months and 56.58 for 36 months .
Well for my gls400d it’s showing 278.38 for 12 months and 655.16 for 36 months …that’s ridiculous variation…more than 11 times the price of uk for the 36 month package

Thank you for all your informative videos Nick! They've really helped get the most out of my just bought 2019 c-class. Do you know where the live traffic gets its data from? I use Waze a lot and it's usually quite fast to pick up on queues due to accidents and similar. Could I expect a similar experience from MB live traffic or will that be slower to pick up those things?
Thanks bsimonson80, glad you’re loving the videos! Live Traffic comes from TomTom in most cases and is very accurate.
Waze however is quite unique as it can be installed on everyone’s phone and offers community based reporting so things may appear slightly faster on that one.
Nick, I have a question for you. Does the Mercedes range turn off the Air Con when you open the sun roof? I'm not a fan of cooling the planet unnecessary so was wondering where the motors were smart enough to turn off the AC under such conditions. Looking for info on the E-Class specifically.
Hey Brian, no it won’t turn off the A/C automatically. I guess it’s in case you were de-misting in the morning or something. Same goes for the windows, if you open the windows, you’ll just need to toggle the A/C off.

Just spent 52 grand on a Mercedes. Dealer says no Mercedes me due to no chips. Apparently very few Mercedes currently have Mercedes me due to this! I was told it would be rectified although now I’ve paid the dealer is not as optimistic as before as to when it will be fixed

These services in the UK quite simply bring car park info to the Sat Nav and the Mercedes me app.

I wish it was full screen too but there are other manufacturers who have come across the same issue before.
The reason is because MBUX is available in two screen sizes, 7” & 10.25”. When designing and coding I’m led to believe that you can only choose one (to maintain compatibility) for everything. So to make sure it works on all models, Mercedes of course had to go with the 7” version, which is perfect for 7” owners but of course leads to a cropped experience if you have a 10.25” screen.
Fingers crossed that future models have a workaround for this 🤞🏼

The tracker function in the car (bottom right of the app) is for you to see the car’s location.
However Stolen Vehicle Help is to report your car as stolen. As long as you have this service before the event happens (must be purchased in advance) you can ring the police, get a crime reference number and report it via the app. Then the Mercedes me team will provide tracking info to the police.

Hey Shuja, have you spoken with Mercedes me Support yet? If you haven’t, I wouldn’t skip that step…it could be as something simple as you not accepting Terms of Use on your account or it could be an issue with Mercedes me in Germany.
To get it sorted, I’d phone them first, after that if it can’t be sorted remotely then speak with your local Mercedes dealership who can get the car booked in and check it out in person.
I have the navigation with parking for app. Supposed to find parking spots . Can you explain it Because I see no difference with this service. Thank you
For Mercedes me on the app?
When you tap on P, it’ll show you all of the available car parks nearby, very useful if you’re in a city you don’t know. You can do the same in the car too.
Some models I spotted can even acquire data and capture on demand live parallel parking spaces and car parks too. Some of them will show you the level of occupancy as well.
Not too long ago Mercedes updated the packages and bungled them together.
Example, the remote package was £29 a year about a year ago. Now it’s bundled with other things that are no good to me and costs £68 a year! 😳

Vehicle Set up on it’s own was that price but they’re bundled together now in the remote package, so you can now locate the car on a map too 🤓
Guard 360: So if I am asleep at 2am and someone manages to break in and steal it, then what? Will they try to locate the car whilst I'm fast asleep? Or do I have to push a button on my phone to start the process?
If that's the case, I wouldn't be waking up until about 6 30am in which case, it would be too late.
Well yes on this you’d have to click the Report as Stolen button 👍🏼 Never bought it or tried it so not entirely sure what will happen!
Have a look a company called Tracker or Meta Track who can offer more robust solutions which would help in that situation you described 🤓

Are these packages worth being on 2017 models? I have a CLA but l don’t want to waste my money buying these if they’re not actually compatible with my car.
I believe if it’s not compatible it won’t show you them on the Mercedes me store. If you log into your account, it’ll show you what’s available
the report to the police does not make a difference because if you report to the police they will give a reference and look for it. however, tracking the car on the map, alarm and lock it by the phone is a very good and secure option.
Yeah defo! Just be aware that the standard “Remote Package” where you can use the app and locate it on a map, the tracking function can be toggled off by the driver. So not officially a tracker 👍🏼

Thanks for the video. I have purchased most of the packages but sitting on fence about urban guard package. Do Mercedes use GPS for tracking the car? If yes then I am not sure becuase thieves can use GPS blockers easily if they are clever enough to steal the car?
Hey G Cheema, yes it just uses GPS. I have heard of thieves before purchasing blockers or jammers so if you were concerned I’d consider getting an actual Tracker from a company called Tracker. They can install devices into cars that utilises other frequencies like VHF alongside GPS. This means that if someone blocked GPS, the signal would still get through.

@@gcheema5037 Also, the Mercedes Urban Tracker service stops working if your vehicle is not found within a specified time. That, and the restriction that it doesn't activate straight away (why? **) stopped me choosing this - I just went for Tracker (although significantly more expensive - it also uses RF tracking).
** You can guarantee that your car would be stolen within the restricted time within which Mercedes refuse to activate the urban Guard package!!

So when you have bought Me features and they show up on VIN datacard, then they are free forever?
Not sure about the vin datacard but they’re attached to the car. So for example if you buy Live Traffic Information for 3 years and sell the car in 2 years, the next owner would get 1 year of the remaining amount.
Mercedes me services vary but check the store you can choose 1-3 years some are one off purchases.

So any features that tells you that you will need to spend more money for "maintenance" or else your warranty is void is free. And any features that you had already paid for when you purchased the vehicle that are actually useful to you that are already capable have been disabled and requires an endless subscription fee. Hey Ronnie, ah awesome! Yes you don’t have to use Smartphone Integration, kind of a user preference if you wanted to use it or not.
So sadly you can’t transfer Mercedes me services, they stay with the car so make sure you factor that in before purchasing any etc. Say for example you purchased a 3 year subscription to the Remote Package and sold your car a year later, the next owner would get the 2 years left on the subscription.
Hi Nick, great videos' quick question, I have an EQC, from the app you can turn on the Pre-Entry climate control, if you go into 'Temperature' it gives you the option of 'Zone' and 'Seat. With the seat option it gives you the option to turn the seat heaters on and off and then an option to control 'drivers seat only', my issue is that even if I turn the seat heater to 'On' turn the Pre- Entry on, when I get to the car (its winter here in NZ) the car is nicely warmed up BUT the seat heaters do not turn on even though they say on from the App, my local dealer tells me that it is an 'app' issue, have you tried this?

No sadly Mercedes dealerships aren’t officially allowed to install specification to cars after they’ve been made. They’re only allowed to sell cars as they’re described on their spec sheets.
When I ordered my car I ordered the dash cam and augmented reality but neither were noted on arrival. I was informed that these features would be activated one the retrofitting become available. However, augmented reality and the dash cam wasn’t shown as active after the retrofitting. Can these apps be installed or activated after at the dealership?

Mercedes Me was introduced in 2019. That's for anyone who might be wondering if theirs has it. "When was Mercedes Me introduced" was the top Google search phrase.
Mercedes me first appeared in 2016 on a few models and then rolled out to others over the coming years.
Sadly though in the USA and UK, the government decided to shut down 3G masts and networks which meant that anything older than approx 2019 may have reduced Mercedes me services or none at all.
It might be different for other countries though 👍🏼
@@npoleary ---- Thanks for that info. I just scanned the Google article that said 2019. Mercedes lines confuse me ... C Class then CLX and CLK and Mercedes C 63 and Mercedes S Class with S 350 and S 450 and S 550 then S 55 and SL 55 Roadster and E Class and G Class ... some with some options and some without, and all hard to find in anything other than silver grey black ... gene sequencing is probably easier. I have yet to find some article that lists all the different models for each year. Now they're rolling out cars with batteries included. Nice cars, to say the least, all of them, but sometimes I get the feeling it's a matter of closing your eyes and buying whatever is in the showroom, then opening them to see what you got!

@@npoleary --- Thank you for the abbreviated overview. Another point of view helps with perspective. I think the problem I'm running into is name change from year to year, as in AMG SL 63 which was apparently discontinued in 2019 (or thereabouts) and apparently "replaced' with the AMG S 63 (I believe that was 2021). It seems that those two models are very similar, differing by year and production run, but with the same engine and basic configuration (as far as my limited knowledge permits me to guess). I think a similar name change was instituted for the SL 550 and the AMG S 55.
Additionally, there is mix-and-match of physical features, such as the windbreakers on the cabriolet models. In most, those are button operated, but in the Roadster models (with the groceries only back seats) there is a physical manually installed screen. It's too easy to get "spoiled" by Mercedes: "Manual wind screen?? You mean there's no button?? OMG!"
Then of course there's my personal problem of not being as bright as I imagine, probably best illustrated graphically when I took a Mustang GT convertible to a car wash. I had the top up, and the windows up as I drove through ... not thinking that the side pressure spray would shoot into the car and wash me, too. There were two inches of soapy water in the rear plastic liner where the top stores when down. "Ha ha. Yes, bright lad, that one! Look, he's dripping wet!"

Hey Shagster, yes all Mercedes in the UK receive 30 years breakdown cover also known as Roadside Assistance with one catch. Basically as long as it is serviced in line with Mercedes-Benz’s recommended servicing then it’ll be renewed automatically every year. This applies to the UK so not sure what it’s like elsewhere, sorry hard to tell where everyone’s from in RUclips comments! 😅
Nick, sorry to bother you but have a question. Recently had a puncture, got it fixed but having spent ages in the car, U can't change tyre pressure units to psi & can't get the Mercedes Me app to reset the Tyre pressure display & even tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. Any idea?

You can’t reset anything from the Mercedes me app as it just reads data, it’s like a remote. But you can reset it from the car: ruclips.net/user/shortsuivtGMxAA6U?feature=share

My mercedes Me is conflicting my sunroof.. after opening it, losing connection, I'm not able to close my sun roof again, not by app, nor manually.. .. car is 2 weeks old and has been to Mercedes service center already.. very fustratng
Hey David, that sounds strange. I’d get back in touch with them again and see what they can find out. Sounds like it needs some further investigation. Hope they get it sorted!

Hi Nick. I just bought a 2019 A250 which I pick up next week. Am I going to have to pay £300 to connect my phone via CarPlay (which my previous Ford will do for free forever)? This is quite a surprise.
It depends if the car had it specc’d to have it at factory. Smartphone Integration is an option on most premium manufacturers

I would quite like to install the dashcam in my A35, but am I right in thinking the memory stick would have to be plugged into the socket near the phone pad and therefore I could no longer use Apple Car Play?
Hey Richard, yes the memory stick would need to be plugged in. Although there are two USB-C ports, MBUX almost suspends itself when Apple CarPlay is running so I’m not 100% sure if the Dashcam functionality would work while using Apple CarPlay.

How long does it take to download to your car? I bought the satnav digital extra yesterday and it's still not showing in the car. On the mercedes store app it says 'digital extra is currently being activated/enabled'...yet they're charging me from when i purchased it 🤨
Has the car started yet? I’d you’ve not switched the car on and driven for a while then the car won’t realise that you’ve bought the update.

It’s sadly not a one time purchase if it’s not listed. Virtually all Mercedes me services are subscription based with the exception of Apple CarPlay & Dashcam found on selected cars.

I baught a 2020 GLC couoe from Germany (Navigation works in Europe) brinhing it in Tunisia (where i live) there is no map in the Navigation so its not usuful. Is there anyway to fix this problem. I know i could use android app navigation but i really want to use it thru MBUX system. What could be the solution for me?

Hey M T, most cars have either maps for a couple of countries or in Mercedes case it’s usually Europe maps.
Car’s typically have USA maps, Europe Maps, Asia Maps etc
I guess the only thing you can do is get in touch with your local Mercedes dealership who should be able to advise what you can do. They’ll probably need to upgrade the multimedia system or something

Hi I have bought the Remote Package and it states auxillary heating/ ventilation in the description however I dont see it on the app after purchasing. Also, the it states remote windows but it does not let me control them via the app? Does anyone know why?
Hey Adam, Auxiliary Heating and ventilation is only available if you have a Plug-in Hybrid or All-Electric car. As they have electric drivetrains, they also have an auxiliary heater because they don’t have an engine to make heat.
Again with the windows, only certain models can operate the windows.
Just make sure you’re signed in on the Mercedes me store and before purchasing it’ll show which ones are compatible

There is a 14 day period where you can email them I believe. But have a read to double check on the emails you received.

I’ve been struggling to activate Mercedes me service since I got my GLB 3 weeks now. It’s been stuck on activation in progress.
Emmanuel, I had this exact problem with my C Class and Mercedes Me help line got involved and were of no use whatsoever and kept me at a loose end for over three months. Eventually I lost my cool and had a rant at my local dealership where they booked the car in to do a diagnostic check. Ended up doing a complete hard reset of the Mercedes Me system on my car and hey presto, all working again. So far so good, the technician told me it may have been a failed or interruption during an over the air update that caused the system to get corrupted. My advice is to go to your dealer and show them my reply. Good luck….

Best thing to do is speak with Mercedes me Support first however then as Anthony suggested, after that then get in touch with your local dealership.
Don’t skip the first step though as your car could be absolutely fine and it could be something to do with the Mercedes me end. It’ll only be a quick phone call and they’ll advise if it can be sorted over the phone. It can even be as something simple as the Terms of Use on Mercedes me not being accepted when you first created it. They’ll check it for you remotely.
Of course if that can’t be sorted then get in touch with your local Mercedes dealership and then they’ll take a look on person.
@@npoleary Hi Nick, it sounds like I’m down on the Merc Me support line but unfortunately they really were very slow in responding to my problem all the way through my experience with them. Most emails took over a week to get a reply each time we communicated, that’s really not a great service imho. Hence the reason I went directly to the dealership in the end, wish I had earlier as the technicians at Sinclair Mercedes Swansea were great.

I find Mercedes Me totally useless. Whatever I ask it to do it says I haven’t created a PIN and must do so. I create a PIN and it says saved. I exit completely and start again. It again says I haven’t created a PIN so I attempt to do so and it then says you already have a PIN. Rinse and repeat amid swearing etc etc
Oh that’s strange Kiwi, that sounds like an issue with your Mercedes me account.
I’d get in touch with Mercedes me support from the app and hopefully they can investigate remotely.
An advanced step to potentially solve that yourself (and just thinking outside of the box), if you delete your Mercedes me account and create a new one again that may fix it. The only issue there is that you may have to get your local dealer to link your car again.
Try Mercedes me support first though 🤓
Sad to say Mercedes Me support is NOT very good. I have repeatedly tried to get a second account linked to the car - and Support haven't a clue how to sort it out! It might be best to do it through your dealer.

Usually a V5 document (in the UK) and driving licence is acceptable for that 👍🏼

Hey Greg, would be good if it were free for life but just like smartphones, but some cars connect to the internet to provide updates like for map updates. This requires a data transfer via the mobile phone network which of course costs.
Most models get certain Mercedes me services for a set time from their registration date, usually 1-3 years depending on the service etc

It is a shame that Mercedes charge for basic services after a period.
My E Class estate, CLS and now C-Class have all been brilliant but such money grabbing by Mercedes to charge for basic services is just too much.
£40,000 plus should be enough to cover their profit for the life of the car.
I will be looking elsewhere for my replacement vehicle.
Ah it’s not Mercedes as such all car manufacturers charge for remote services. It’s no different to iCloud for iPhones or Google for Android. The phone itself will of course work as it always has but there are extra features you can utilise to enhance the experience.
Mercedes me services are all chargeable, they always have been since I’ve covered them on my channel for the past few years but Mercedes offer 3 years for free in the UK. Other manufacturers offer two in some instances where as some also offer 3 years, it just depends.
For Live Traffic etc, if you’re after the free alternative, the best thing (if the car is compatible) is to use Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.

I am currently researching exactly who charges after a free period, likely I will now buy a BMW 420 GranCoupe.
I have 5gb of icloud on my iphone, free of charge, My iphone photos are backed up to both google and Amazon, all free of charge.
My, unused for years, Garmin Satnav with inbuilt dashcam and live traffic has free updates for life.
