  • The Deebot stopped working and complained of a stuck main brush, yet the brush was clean. Instead the motor was jammed and the motor had to be removed and cleaned. I merged the video clips with an online tool from Clidea but it chopped off the end of the video where you can see that it worked. Also, turn off the power before working on it and remove the main brush and the dust bin.

Worked for me! Thanks for detailing the process of getting it apart. Now my vacuum sucks again!

Thank you so much! I replaced my main brush but was still getting the error, and my Deebot was out of warranty, so I got brave and followed your instructions. There was only a tiny bit of hair around the spindle, but with the addition of some WD40, I was able to get it moving again. I somehow did this without losing any screws or messing up putting it back together. And now my Deebot is totally clean and running as good as new! Thank you again for your video - without it I would not have been brave enough to try this.

Karen, I only tried this because the Deebot was out of warranty and it was either throw it out to dive in! Nothing to lose! Hopefully yours is still running. Mine jammed a few weeks later and I decided to get a Roomba. However the Roomba is not without problems. I have tried many of these robotic vacuums and have yet to find an 'intelligent' one. So much for artificial intelligence, LOL! Looks like they won't be replacing us humans anytime soon. ;-)

Great Video....figured we had to buy a new vacuum. Cleaned everything and still couldn't get the motor turning. Didn't know we had to go deeper into the pin for the hair removal. Up and runningin in just a little time! Thank you

Denise, glad to know it helped you. Hopefully the fix works longer than my repair. ;-) I've benefitted so much from people taking the time to share their solutions to repairing home devices, I thought I should do the same.

This was really helpful and it helped me get my Deebot back online. One thing I would suggest is using motor oil instead of WD40. WD40 is a solvent (even though it markets itself as a lube). It actually will dissolve any of the original grease/lubricant and will eventually cause the motor to seize up.

Probably why my fix didn't work permanently. Good advice.

Thank you for this video! Was able to clean debris out of the pinion gear spot and the rotation band, and now the deebot works perfectly!

It worked, but then jammed again. I cleaned it and worked again but jammed again. I got frustrated and bought a Roomba

Just what I needed. My is making a clicking noise and I think it has to do with the belt driving the brushes.

Thanks, seems to be a common problem. Mine didn't have debris around the actual motor gear but the cog at the other end of the belt inside the housing. I used WD40, compressed air and also some folded paper to get into the gap, because I was concerned that a knife blade might cut the plastic components.

I got advice to use motor oil instead of WD-40 which I think is a better lubricant.

So did it work? Mine was the side brushes that stoped working after only a couple of months. Did the same as you, took it apart, clean everything thing good and oiled the motors, but still no good.. I really didn't like my Ecobot.

Martin Fiset, did fix the side brush? I opened mine and everything looks good. A new motor it's about $30,00 I do not know if is worthed.

When I did this process, I discovered that my main brush motor output shaft bearing is worn out, causing a terrible squealing noise. The output gear can be moved by hand. I guess it could not handle the side loading. Any idea where I can get a replacement motor? Ecovacs is no help. I have seem some other replacement motors but none for the main brush of this model.

Do you have a video that shows how to get the motor out? Specifically the head screw?

    • @CharlieXRay

No, and after a while the vacuum malfunctioned again in the same way so I concluded that it is not a very high quality product and purchased one from iRobotics which I am happier with.

what screw driver did you use to remove the screws?

I have the 710 model and have a main brush error. I removed the cover piece for the bumper but the bumper won't come off. I finished taking all the screws off but unable to take the bumper or the cover off. Do you have any suggestions?

So that gear on the end of the motor SHOULD turn freely?
