That look on Cersei's face when she realizes that all of her scheming and plotting to get rid of the Tyrell's has just blown up in her face? Absolutely priceless. Well done Lena Heady and Jonathan Pryce.
Book version went so much harder though. Cersei puts things in place so that Margaery, as the queen, can only be defended by one of the Kingsguard(rather than her brothers(which she has several of in the novel). -Loras is injured in the attack on Dragonstone(and on the Kingsguard, since he has two older brothers and joins out of grief for Renly)and is in critical condition. -Osney Kettleblack bears false witness against Margaery as an adulteress(Tommen is still a kid in the books)and is arrested for confessing(and tortured into admitting its Cersei he was fucking, not Margaery, with the High Sparrow noting he was a bit too pleased about confessing before). -Arys Oakheart is killed by Areo Hotah in a failed attempt to crown Myrcella(in another plot abandoned by Dumb and Dumber in exchange for "Bad Poosey") -Balon Swann gets sent to return Myrcella(and set with a plot to kill Doran Martell's son to end the betrothal, placing the blame on a non present Tyrion so the Lannisters are not held accountable). -Jaime is in the Riverlands and crippled(and when Cersei sends a letter begging for his help(pretty much, in her mind, expecting they can die together), Jaime, who is sick of her shit and has learned she was sleeping around thanks to Tyrion, burns the letter and leaves her to her fate. The only two to fight for her are Meryn Trant and Boros Blount(who is a fat coward who got amalgamated with Meryn Trant). So Cersei practically cripples her chance at having anyone competent stand for her, as she is under the same rules as Margaery.
Cersei had always been seen escorted by Kingsguard knights or Lannister guards, or even both, even when roaming inside the Red Keep, that was almost a trademark. The fact that she decided or agreed to enter the Sept unguarded shows how immensely overconfident and blind she was.

Jonathan Pryce has been absolutely terrific this season as the High Sparrow. He can go from a humble servant to a warm father to a cold executioner all in one take and all we need are his facial expressions and his eyes to know what's up. Sheer briliance. Everyone who wants to learn the craft of acting should study this master at work in this show and in his previous roles.
It is so wonderfully satisfying to see Cersei's plan backfired on her. She knew that Lancel had joined these religious fanatics and she should have known how dangerous his knowledge of her was, and yet she provided the "sparrows" with power and weapons. As Tywin once put it so well: "I don't distrust you because you're a woman; I distrust you because you're not as smart as you think you are".
In the books, Osney Kettleblack was tortured and confessed about Cersei's dalliances; the High Sparrow found inconsistencies concerning Margaery's supposed whorings. Still, i don't take away the awesomeness of this scene with Lancel.
The moment when I miss Joffrey at least he would not let his mother and wife be taken by some religious fanatics. btw: I think Cersei tottaly deserved it, but I feel sorry for Margery
03nj Joffrey was a little bitch who wouldn't have even had the balls to go meet with the High Sparrow at all. He'd just have a bunch of smallfolk slaughtered and make everyone hate him some more.
Cersei never knew who her friends were, who was her ally and who was her foe. She hated Tyrion, and that blind hatred clouded her judgement , while her real enemies, who knew what to say in front of her, like little finger, slipped right beneath her radar.
I loved the similarities here- how she was so smug as Margery was carried away screaming, "Let me go! I'm the QUEEN!", and now Cersei finds herself in the same position screaming the exact same words. How Margery literally wanted to puke up all her intestines when the door opened and Loras' bedfellow walked in; Cersei had the biggest "Oh F*CK" moment the second she saw Lancel walk through the door. I really didn't think they'd speed things up this quickly from the books in the show, but I'll be excited if we get "The Walk of Penance" now- book readers know what I'm talking about, but I won't say anything more for those who enjoy the show. All I can say is- it would make for a hell of a season finale, and non-book readers are NOT. READY!!!
"I will hurt you for this.A day will come when you think you are safe and happy, and your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth. And you will know the debt is paid" - Tyrion Lannister
I'm so glad to see her stupidity has caught up to her. The smart thing would have been to have the High Sparrow killed early on, but she has this false since of control and invulnerability that she actually believed she could align herself with someone who's ambitions have nothing to do with her own. Had Tywin had lived, there's no way he would have made that mistake. I'm curious to know just how much Lancel disclosed to the High Sparrow. Did he even know about Cersei and Jaimie's incestuous relationship?
nemobad I guess we're going to find out what this means for a couple of people. Will Jaime be able to return to King's Landing, will Myrcella still be welcomed even if its learned that shes a bastard (In Dorne, bastards are accepted but Myrcella's political worth is gone). A lot of shit will hit the fan, we'll see what sticks.
That would have been so funny. I imagine that if she was sent in with Margeary after acting so arrogant with her she would have walked back in and said "hi" in the same awkward way that Heath Ledger's Joker says Harvey Dent when he's in hospital.

pato Queen of Thorns & Co. probably wish they hadn't killed him now! Stupid fucks. If Joffrey had had half the warrior-prowess Jaime had, he'd have been the ideal king to face the White Walkers. Ruthless, cruel and without any honor code holding him back.
How could she not see that coming? How stupid can you be, Cercei? Well at least you get what you derserve. I hope Tommen will come to your rescue now and he dies while doing it.
LORD CAEDUS LIVES!! I'm still in book 3. She isn't a point-of-view character yet. I'm looking forward to get mad about stupid cercei in book 4... Thanks, man :D
Well it's hard to tell what will happen now with the Tyrells. But The Mountain will fight for Cercei in trial by combat. While The Hound who got saved by the fate of the seven. Fights for them as a new man and kills his brother.
LOVED the High Sparrow. People disliked him because he was religious but he was cleaning out the corruption and decadence which is what the city sorely needed. He wasn’t the sickness, he was the medicine.
Totally agree with you. There was so much characters worse than the High Sparrow in GOT. I don't understand why some people hate him that much considering 90% of GOT characters did bad things. For example, they will blame the HS for manipulating Tommen but not Margaery(I love her tho). Moreover, saying the HS is a piece of shit because he's homophobic is dumb in a fictional world and theocracy. Tywin and Joffrey hate gays too, it's not for this reason I will hate them in the GOT universe
Yeah except he went after the wrong filth. Or at least not the ones that were of high priority. As Olenna put it, going after all the gay people will leave no room for actual criminals like murderers and ra*ists in prison.
Actually, Cercei, the queen is imprisoned. You’re the dowagrer queen. Cercei really thought she couldn’t be arrested when the actual queen was arrested. Delusional. Also why in the world did she not have her body guards with her? Whenever we see her she’s always protected by at least two.
Power resides where people believe it resides. Cersei believed she had power from the support from the HS so she walked in the Sept without guards. But the HS only believed in the gods and not the King’s mother who armed them. In short, Cersei’s a fool.
Whenever I watch this I can’t help picture the sparrow saying to lancel, “ok I’m gonna say some cool stuff then when you hear ‘he has much to say about you’, you’ll open the door and stand behind me menacingly it’ll be bad ass”
richard doyle Why is he a dick for pointing out something obvious? What the OP did was kinda retarded. Even if she didn't know how to spell the name, it would have taken 2 seconds to google it instead of the effort it took to write "don't know how to spell name"
I am not sure how many times I saw this scene...and I am about to finish season 6...but I keep coming back for this one only as I think this is the creepiest scene in entire franchise. The way Jonathan plays, his face expression is so perfect, that gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Cersei also perfectly plays with the moment she realizes her plot is actually turning against her.
I hate that the church thinks they have all this power but this had to happen for Cercei to realize they need to be stopped as well. God, I wish Tommen would just do something. :S
Harun Ahmed bullshit, they're just fanatics who claim that they care for the people so they can earn their support. Punishing gay relationships, when the city is flocked with rapists and murderers? Yeah, sounds legit
Lady Stoneheart they do care for the people. That's where their popularity stems from. Nobles don't give a shit about the small folk, what they do and who they are. The faith sees each individual as valuable, as equal. So they're punishing justly.
Harun Ahmed I mean, do you think the church is right in what they think is wrong? It didn't really cross my mind that someone could agree with the church in that sense but, I guess it's possible someone could think that extremely in the real world. The church should have no power in King's Landing, just as a church running the US government, for example, wouldn't be good. Not all people follow that religion and some of the things seen as wrong by the church aren't believed as wrong by others. I'd also like to add that Tommen isn't a bad king. He has the interest of the people in mind, but he's just too mentally weak to push the church out by force (which is what he has to do at this point).
2:19 The fact that The High Sparrow's face became emotionless in this Scene and how He's halfway engulfed in the darkness and then We hear the Door opening and then We see his Follower standing next to Him while their both being silent just adds to The Horror.
This is going to setup a huge cascade of events. Trial of Cercei -> Cercei revealed to be incestuous -> Tommen's legitimacy questions and eventually revoked -> All dealings under Joffrey and Tommen are rescinded -> Throne given to closest heir of Robert, who is Gendry. TL;DR - Gendry wins the Game of Thrones
the thing alot of people seem to forget is that robert never acknowlaged gendry and even if he will be legitimised he can't be considered as robert's son, bastard or otherwise. and btw i believe that gendry will never reappear in the show.
Mr. Horseshoe If that happens the throne would go to Stannis Baratheon. He is the one true king and the lord of light. For all we know Gendry is still rowing that damn boat singing 100 bottles of beer on the wall to pass the time. For the night is dark and full of terrors.
The guy playing the High Sparrow has an amazing performance, to be sure, but it also helps that, religious zealot or not, he has morality on his side in this case. In fact, considering what he was, I'd say he was fairly reasonable. At least that's how I remember him.
the thing about religious fanatics no matter how reasonable and rational they are is, if you follow any religions teachings to the letter and do as you are expected to do by the holy books you claim to follow, you will have a lot of cleaning up to do when it comes to the common folk and leader alike, a modern day priest or holy man would understand that it is not feasible to put every man before gods judgement in this life and to weight their sins like a judge, a fanatic thinks that anything less than that is heresy and as bad as doing the sin yourself, that is why a truly devout man is the most terrifying "lunatic" there is there won't be many who can claim they have never sinned and there are countless whose sins would merit them a public execution
That look on Cersei's face when she realizes that all of her scheming and plotting to get rid of the Tyrell's has just blown up in her face? Absolutely priceless. Well done Lena Heady and Jonathan Pryce.

I could watch this scene on repeat indefinitely
Please let the cleganeBowl happen.
Cortez I hope it happens, the hype at unsullied seeing that The Hound is actually still alive would be awesome.
*****
They don't know the guy that was a prominent figure of the first four seasons of the show?
*****
Unsullied is a term used often for non-book readers.
XanthelinHS Explain plz
Cortez Don't you mean...*STRONGBOWL*?
i kinda miss joffrey
he would kill them since the episode 2
pato they wouldn't even come to Kings Landing in the first place if Joffrey was still around.
sapphiro Though it was the war he started that drove them there. The sparrows are in large part refugees.
pato Queen of Thorns & Co. probably wish they hadn't killed him now! Stupid fucks. If Joffrey had had half the warrior-prowess Jaime had, he'd have been the ideal king to face the White Walkers. Ruthless, cruel and without any honor code holding him back.
Joffery was the flip side of the same coin.
She never dropped that smirk. Even when her eyes were darting around going "oh shit."
I had the biggest grin on my face when I saw this, let’s see if she finds the accommodations “sufficient”
JamesB00n No he wont.Kevan Lannister will return to become the Hand of the king and Tommen will survive this season
LORD CAEDUS LIVES!! Varys i think LF will go back to the Vale to call the banners.
Well it's hard to tell what will happen now with the Tyrells. But The Mountain will fight for Cercei in trial by combat. While The Hound who got saved by the fate of the seven. Fights for them as a new man and kills his brother.
LORD CAEDUS LIVES!!
It will they have been setting things up for it.Its gonna be in the finale.
2:40 "I hope they won't notice I'm leaving"
For the night is dark and full of terrors old man, but the fire burn them all away.
It’s so satisfying seeing the smirk get wiped off her face
It took less than a season for Cersei to run the whole country into the ground.
Lena Heady was consistently incredible in this entire series
@2:23 "I'm being pranked right? This is a prank! Ashton? Ashton?! Where are you?! Ashtoooooonnnnn!"
Lmao!!!!!
"Forgivenesssss....is more than saying sorryyy...."
Gave the High sparrow way too much power. Loved this episode!
Best....Moment......EVER!
Power resides where people believe it resides. Cersei believed she had power from the support from the HS so she walked in the Sept without guards. But the HS only believed in the gods and not the King’s mother who armed them. In short, Cersei’s a fool.
No one expects the Sparrow's Inquisition!
Whenever I watch this I can’t help picture the sparrow saying to lancel, “ok I’m gonna say some cool stuff then when you hear ‘he has much to say about you’, you’ll open the door and stand behind me menacingly it’ll be bad ass”
How could she not see this coming? Hubris strikes another down once again.
This is the definition of karma
1.37 Cersei: *screaming internally*
I actually don't want cersi (don't know how to spell name) to die she's a good villain
jasmine wagner You don't know how to spell her name? That's quite retarded since you probably read it while looking at the title of the video.
richard doyle hue.
AGamingPanda xD
richard doyle Why is he a dick for pointing out something obvious? What the OP did was kinda retarded. Even if she didn't know how to spell the name, it would have taken 2 seconds to google it instead of the effort it took to write "don't know how to spell name"
xHaniffax Not even a need to google it, just take half a second to look at the title of this very video.
Any woman who must say "I am the queen" is no true queen.
Revenge is sweet.
Lancel Lannister is the young man he talks about, her cousin who she slept with. He is also the guy that stands next high priest
Thums up if you agree bronn has a awesome voice. Loved his singing. :)
Both are amazing actors !
Lol Cersei’s face when she hears the Tyrells will get stripped down at 1:15 is hilarious.
Also pretty disgusting at how inhumane and non caring she is towards other humans
1:36 Her fave when she realized she screwed up BIG TIME. She’s like “Uh oh, I made him TOO powerful and now he’s using that power against me. Oops.”
Only righteous dragon-fire can cleanse these fanatics.
Best episode this season by far
I was smiling so hard when she finally got hers. hahahahahaaha
As would say Tywin Lannister,
One who must yell I'm the queen is no true queen.
Lena Heady is an amazing actress
I love you watching this series and then coming back to these scenes and watching all the comments
I hate that the church thinks they have all this power but this had to happen for Cercei to realize they need to be stopped as well. God, I wish Tommen would just do something. :S
G Quinn Meh. They're there for the people, that's why they are powerful because they care for the people.
G Quinn The Faith, not the Church.
2:18 That shift in his expression “shivers”
Boom goes the dynamite bitch! Totally loved this scene and it was nice to see what Cersei deserved for a long time now.
Mr. Horseshoe Stanis may have a better claim tan Gendry, but it seems like he is going to die soon.
the faith would not allow stannis on the throne anyway.
Mr. Horseshoe If that happens the throne would go to Stannis Baratheon. He is the one true king and the lord of light.
For all we know Gendry is still rowing that damn boat singing 100 bottles of beer on the wall to pass the time.
For the night is dark and full of terrors.
uh ahai They would or be burned alive or possibly risk Westeros descending into full anarchy with everyone fighting for the throne.
I so enjoy coming back here, years later.
@@Jinnai89🤓
Excellent acting by Jonathan Pryce.
“I don’t distrust you because you’re a woman, I distrust you because you’re not as smart as you think you are.” Tywin knew his daughter well.
LOL, I keep rewinding the scene of Bronn singing in the cell.... Classic
