I understand that season 8 had many dialogue and plot issues. But like.... how did King's Landing become a desert. Look at all the trees around it here. In season 7 the trees weren't there either but at least there was grass when the Unsullied assembled outside the walls. In 8 there were no trees, not even stumps. So you can't even argue they chopped them down for firewood for the Winter or to keep the trees back so enemies can't use then for cover. Very odd.

Imagine if _Dynasty's_ Joan Collins and Stephanie Beecham joined the show as rival dynastic matriarchs up against Diana Rigg. Olenna even has the shoulder pads.
Interestingly, Cersei is quick to accuse Olenna of making underhanded comments, which were actually very blunt, Then she herself does exactly that; "House Lannister has no rivals." What she's actually saying here, is that she doesn't see their house as being challenging enough to consider them as a valid rival. Notice, Olenna picks up on it, doesn't say another word, And instead, almost decides right then and there to plot her revenge on Cersei. Besides, if Cersei doesn't see her as a threat, she will never suspect it. Sure enough, she doesn't.
The countryside around King's Landing sure does look different in S5. All we needed for it to make a _little_ sense in S8 was one line from Qyburn; "At your command, we've stripped the ground bare. Lumber for the scorpions, and no army can approach unseen." Even though the landscape is a different shape later on, that would have sold it well enough.

I like how Kings's Landing looks beautiful and lavish here and a desert in season 7 or 8
Cersei is trying to play at a much higher level than she's capable of. The only thing she has are resources. She doesn't have the skill or strategic understanding to properly deploy them.
The famous tart queen cersei.... OUCH
I loved her pathetic attempt to emulate her father at 1:09. When Tywin did it, it meant something. When she does it, it makes her look childish, petty, and foolish.
You think you can smell it from 5 miles I can smell the bullshit from KL across a screen
God is Olenna absolutely amazing she and Varys, Littlefinger and Tyrion and are just beautiful
"House Lannister has no rival" I think Tywin might have said the same in that situation. But the difference is that Tywin acted in logic based on reality while Cersei acted with emotions though she can grasp the reality. She did learn her father's skills to handle people perfectly but she missed many things behind that.
She didn't say that. She said "House Lannister has no rival" which has a very different meaning.
@@moonbeeps Thanks I correct it!
"The Tyrells are our only true rivals in terms of resources and we need them at our side"- Tywin Lannister
Tywin wasn't arrogant enough to believe they had no rivals. To assume such a thing would be to lower his guard, something Tywin would never do.
@@TeeAiDee tywin wasnt stupid tyrell was rich in harvest manpower and wealth sure the lanister have the advantage in military power but even tywin admited that the tyrell probally had more money.
The lighting is beautiful in this show and in this scene in particular.
I love this lady!!!! so sarcastic, so humorous!! Long live Lady Olenna!! muah
Well that comment didn't age well at all :-)
I agree XD
The Tyrell family built their city on good taste and the principles of nature.
The difference between Cersei and Tywin is that he would’ve kept on working and not faked it until ollenna left because he was confident in his decisions and wasn’t gloating over pulling one on olenna tyrell
Tywin would have never give power to some fanatics in the first place
Exactly.
In truth, he would have stopped writing because Olenna being there meant they had important things to discuss.
But had he not stopped writing, it would have been cause he had some important things to write down (like he always did) while still giving Olenna full attention... cause they had important things to discuss, lol
"get some rest, dear, you look appalling" to margaery is so funny because she looks like she always does
0:10 me predicting the fate of season 8 when they announced it was the final season have only 6 episodes and there were still so many major storylines to wrap up
The quote Olenna told Cersei about Tywin than they should work with each other rather than destroy is right. Cersei was so brutal and evil that it was impossible for her to rule for a long time without being killed at some point, like the mad king was
Cersei's atrocities and chaos is nowhere near the level of the ''mad king'', come on.
The moment Cersei lost was when at the “As I said” line. It showed she was losing her grip on the conversation and was on the defensive. The tone of voice said it all, how she was trying desperately to project authority.
"You can smell the shit from 5 miles away" 🤣🤣
At the end there you can see that Olenna was right Cersei wasn't actually writing anything lol
"What veil?"
:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDdd
“Ah yes, the famous tart-tongued queen of thorns.” - Cersei Lannister
“And the famous tart, Quenn Cersei.” - Olenna Tyrell
Only Diana Rigg could get away with saying to Natalie Dormer “get some rest dear you look appalling”
That said, there are little cues of fatigue in her voice and the way she is carrying herself that were clear choices. Margaery is as sharp as ever but we did have to bring in the ringer for this one. 🥰
What you mean ?
@@pyromaniac709Have you seen pictures of Diana Rigg as a young woman? I’d say she was about as good-looking as Natalie Dormer herself. Not only that, her character is particularly gutsy so that statement that could be harsh is not inappropriately harsh coming from her xD. You just take her as “yeah she’s probably right”
@@MalloryNewcomb Just looked into it. Wow you're right, she's a stunner!
She was one of The most stunning woman ever.
@@MalloryNewcomb yes and it's also the familiarity with which a mother/grandmother will speak with a daughter. No male family member could have gotten away with saying that to her.
You can see the little respect Olenna had for Cersei dripping away in this scene. Her face tells it all.
Every time Tywin wrote something they always made an effort to show how Tywin was genuinely writing.
So this is how I know that Cersei is imitating her father lol.
On top of that, she also stops writing the very moment Olenna leaves the room
@@the_convexx exactly
And people pointed out she only dipped her pen back near the end. Quills don't hold a lot of ink.
Cersei thought she was so clever arming the sparrows and setting them on the Tyrells...but its so satisfying watching it all backfire when they start looking into her shit😂
Gotta love how King's Landing is a completely different place in season 8.
This scene is interesting when you look at it from the perspective of what each Lannister child received from their father Tywin. Jaime got his martial skill, Tyrion his wit and intelligence, and Cersei his ruthlessness.
These things together made Tywin an apt politician and player of the game, yet apart? Well it becomes rather clear through Cersei how ruthlessness alone isn’t what made Tywin as successful as he was.
😂 😂
I love this part. When Cersei
Try to be charismatic when she writ nothing. that's show us how Tywin was smart and he rely was wraiting somthing imbortant. when cersei just playing..
Tywin was right when he said" you are not smart as you think you are"

“What veil”? LMFAOOO YES!!!
1:10 - Olenna when she saw the script for Season 8
"House Lannister has no enemies" I don't think you're watching the same show as I am, Cersei.
Well the only people who hate them are, most of the north, the whole of Dornne, the reach, the Erie, the Dragon Queen, Tyrion, most of the people in Kimgslanding, the faith militen, the high sparrow, and every single pesent in Westoros. So..... I guess a few people dislike them.
She said "House Lannister has no rival" - Much different meaning than no enemies. In Season 1 she even says "Everyone who is not us is our enemy." ruclips.net/video/yXezu8yxEn8/видео.html
She means it in the sense; We have no equals.
You can’t quote something if it’s not word for word it’s “house Lannister has no rival”
I don't think *you're* watching the same show. Besides, you got burned alive so Stannis wouldn't have to shovel his driveway.
Every scene with The Queen of Thorns was so great. One of my favorite characters.
0:05 what happened to all those fields in season 8?
They kind of forgot
😅😅@@MindfulnessGamer
LOL Olenna calling out Cersei's shit is priceless.
If only Cersei was not obsessed with destroying the Tyrell's, Tommen would still be alive.
Cersei was always so inept when it came to the zealouts that she tried to weaponize for her own ends.
Useful tip: Never create a weapon that you cannot control or disable.
Cersei is the fantasy embodiement of CIA
Yup. Especially with her reputation. She has a longer list of 'sins' that would drive the faith nuts then Loras.
Lady Tyrell drank poison to avoid appearing in season 8. Mic drop.
“Get some rest dear, you look appalling..” great line! 👌
The way Cersei could not even speak well cause Ollenna keeps cutting off 🤣🤣
Olenna is dealing with a child here.
Very odd.
That was one of my biggest annoyances with season 8. Seeing Kings Landing become a desert made no sense
Look, best I got is that Drogon was chasing butterflies just before Missandei’s beheading, maybe he got carried away? He is a behemoth after all
I agree, stupid continuity errors by Dumb and Dumber.
"House Lannister has no Rival."
"I guess you don't need the Gold, Wheat and Troops I just mentioned then."
Cersei mastered the technique of digging her own grave like no one else
The 'And what?' head tilt after she calls Cersei a tart.
The writers kinda forgot that Kingslanding was surrounded by lush green landscape and not a desert
such amazing actresses, both of them
Apart from the the pretend writing I think Cersei handled that pretty well
Yes, she did.
No she didn’t lmao

*”And the famous tart, Queen Cersei”*

'House Lannister has no rival.'
The look on Olenna's face was pure: 'This bitch... Why do I even bother?'
0:51 If that's what "appalling" looks like, it's not fair to anyone else.
“As for your veiled threats…”
“What veil?___”
“👁️👄👁️”
Hahahaha! I just realized that Olenna had to know Cersei wasn’t writing anything from the start, because Cersei didn’t have any wax melting to actually seal the letter.
Ironically Cersei here speaks the truth while beliving she is lying. She believed she had control over the sparrows. She was very wrong.
Olenna: I want loras released.
Tywin: .... continues writing...
Olenna: I said .
Tywin: I heard what you said. You want what I want. A mutual understanding of circumstance.
You want loras. Hiuse tyrell provides the throne with wheat and men plenty enough for the campaign amd are dependent upon them.
The faith dictates their affairs as they see fit. As such affairs interfere with iur happy alliance.. it is in our best shared interests that he be released.
Signed... hand of the King.. *puts the pen down*...
Would you like me to add anything else Lady Olenna...
(Cersi could have pretended to be ally and friend)
Where the fuck were you for seasons 7 and 8?
Dude, you are brilliant
Imagine if _Dynasty's_ Joan Collins and Stephanie Beecham joined the show as rival dynastic matriarchs up against Diana Rigg. Olenna even has the shoulder pads.
"And the famous tart Queen Cersei!"
Go back in the corner, Cersei!
Interestingly, Cersei is quick to accuse Olenna of making underhanded comments, which were actually very blunt,
Then she herself does exactly that;
"House Lannister has no rivals."
What she's actually saying here, is that she doesn't see their house as being challenging enough to consider them as a valid rival.
Notice, Olenna picks up on it, doesn't say another word,
And instead, almost decides right then and there to plot her revenge on Cersei.
Besides, if Cersei doesn't see her as a threat, she will never suspect it.
Sure enough, she doesn't.
"what vail" my GOD SHE IS A BADASS i love you olenna to think she lost because of cercei is disrespectful
Although Cersei made this happen olenna is basically telling her 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'. Cersei thinks the faith are her allies but olena can smell it 5 mile away that they will eventually betray and sure enough......
Tywin summed up Cersei in one sentence: "You're not as smart as you think you are"
Olenna was so badass even the post-S4 decline didn’t impact her
Olenna: You can smell season 8 from five miles away!
She tried to match wits with the queen of thorns
She has the ego of Tywin but not the wits
Cersei Lannister is so cold she makes the Night King shiver .
Olenna you are the true queen we love you forever ❤️❤️❤️😩
Man she really did a great job filling Tywin’s shoes. Remember all those times he asked for a personal apology 3 seconds into the conversation??
The head wobble she does after ‘the famous tart’ AHHH DIANA RIGG ❤️
Loved the view of King's landing in this episode
Curious they didn't show the desert outside the gates though...
@@looneyburgmusic maybe that was another one of the gates to enter the city, remember the city is huge and has many gates, also I think having crops and trees around the city makes more sense to feed it's habitants

@@looneyburgmusic OMG another detail they forgot! 😩 Beautiful view though 🤩
honestly the latest version feels more accurate in terms of size, given the population.
I love how in this season kings landing is at the edge of a forest, and in season 8 it is at the edge of a desert.
Cersei behaves like a girl, and I don't think we can expect anything else, she grew up as part of one of the most powerful and rich families in Westeros, unlike her brothers, she has no idea what difficulties are, always protected by his father and his last name. Cersei tries hard to be smart, but she really has no idea how to act, she has a power that was given to her just for being her, but she doesn't have the ability to use it to her advantage and ends up hurting herself. . . She doesn't tolerate frustration when her plans go awry, she doesn't want to take the consequences of her actions because that's exactly how she grew up and was raised. Damn spectacular character, I love you Cersei.
Yeah, no problem. Knowing that her three children are going to die, being raped by her husband, being despised by her father. No problem.
Cersei was a poor imitation of Tywin and basically destroyed her own family. Making her the chief villain was an idiotic choice by D&D.
Idiotic choice? She is a way more interesting & complex Villain than most of The one from The Show. Definetely The most well acted and also well-written (This one for The first 6-7 seasons). She is understimated by others but also she overstimated herself and This itself makes an affascinatinh dualism that lead to unpredictable actions, choice & more from her. You don’t know what she might do and it makes you have some pre-thinking and critics (clapping for her, think what she will do might be cool, rolling The eyes thinking that it might be a stupid thing) and then she surprise you by either doing the opposite of what you thought or did exactly what you had in mind but bigger and with a plot-twist/easter egg that leaves you mouthgaping.
Except Dany became the chief villain in the end, so your just idiotic.
@@crackshipsarelifeI am pretty sure Tywin dies in the books. (I'm only in book 3) but they could have done things slower and had that conversation with Olena. D&D were the worst thing to ever happen to GoT.
1:57 “As for your veiled threats?”
“What veil?”
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present Lady Olenna of House Tyrell. The Queen of Thorns. Patron saint of the church of “Too old to give a fck” and lobber of nuclear verbal grenades.
I would have taken an entire season of nothing but Olenna roasting the shit out of EVERYONE on the show (I think even the Night King wouldn’t want a bar of the new asshole she would tear him) over the abomination that was S8.
Unfortunate Dame Dianna Rigg has left us, rest her glorious soul, but what I would have given for her to don the Olenna getup and do a “review/roast” of the final season.
Diana Rigg was a wonderful casting choice but I just wish she had been able to play the real Lady Olenna from the books.
Can you please explain? (I haven't read the books).
i told myself "one clip" and here i am 3 hours later
