No, the actual logic is that their hair is blonde, the witch just says gold to make it sound cooler and make it not so obvious to what she is trying to say to make it more mysterious
Ned stark in season 1 discovered this when he reads the book of the previous ancestors of king robert “black of hair, black of hair, prince joffrey, GOLD of hair”

Also, Sansa (if it goes by the show), tells Tyrion about Jon, seeing the downfall of Dany and thus the downfall of Cersei. - 'The King will have 20 children, and you 3' The Kings bastards, Joffrey, Mycrella and Tommen. - 'Gold will be their crowns, gold their shrouds' Joffrey - King, Mycrella - Princess, Tommen - King, all die. Then it misses out the part of the prophecy in the books. 'And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you' Valonqar means little brother in High Valyrian, many suspect Tyrion, but will likely be Jaime (he is the younger twin). In the books Maggy the Frog is proven right, Cersei's friend asks her if she'll marry Jaime, and the witch says, 'Not Jaime, nor any other man, Worms will have your maidenhead. Your death is here tonight, little one. Can you smell her breath? She is very close' Her friend was Melara Hetherspoon, she fell down a well and died not longer after, some speculate Cersei pushed her so she could never tell anyone bout the prophecy.
It will have to be Tyrion who kills Cersei though. The prophecy says that the Valonquar will wrap "his hands" around her throat. Jaime has only one hand.
Since there is no mention of the Volanqar then why is it Cersei hates Tyrion so much? Because he killed her mother through childbirth? No it was because she thought that he would kill all of her children and then kill her. Which is why she has been so paranoid around Tyrion her whole life. Leaving out the Volanqar makes no sense.
Honestly, I think D&D are gonna go back to that scene later this season and have Maggy finish her prophecy or at least we'll see Cersei kill Melara. And ya I know it's not certain that Cersei killed her, but come on it was heavily implied.
John Johnson that would be unfortunate, but it's hard to determine whether it's good or not. Their biggest audience has not read the books, so they're writing to please them more than us.
That's true. But it almost feels like they're trying to annoy us book readers. Just by adding in certain scenes (CotF with fireballs) or ignoring certain plot points (BwB, LS, Reznak etc.) Also at the end of the prophecy scene Heatherspoon is ready for running out of the tent. I doubt she'll stick around to Hear she's going to die
Maggy also foretells that she will die at the hands of the valonqar, which is High Valyrian for "little brother." Cersei assumes this to be Tyrion, one of the reasons she harbors such animosity towards the smallest Lannister, or maybe this refers to Jaime. They're twins, she was born first. That's why Cersei hates Tyrion so much, not only because their mother died at his birth, because this prophecy.. She expects him to kill her but I think eventually Jaime to do that :)
Razvan Gold I suspect the show will revisit this flashback, it has too much significance (even with the valonqar bit left out) to not place emphasis on for the audience.
Jaime will kill her, then Jaime will die soon after. Cersei said that the two belong together, so she would most likely believe that they should die together. Maybe she'll arrange for Jaime to be killed in the event that she dies at his hand (pun unintended), or maybe Jaime will kill himself because he believes the same thing. As for cersei's new baby, I'm thinking he/she dies, wouldn't be the first dead baby on the show (Rhaego, little Ned Stark, Roose Bolton Jr.)

Crowns is probably talking about their haircolor, the one thing that gave them away to Jon Arryn for what they were. Maybe the "Gold Cloak" states that their fate is to be the fate of the Targaryan children, murdered and swept in the kingsguards cloaks, that they all will suffer to be murdered as well.
I have a small idea ... what if Margaery is the younger, more beautiful queen the prophecy talked about? Because if you think about it, Margaery's presence in Kings Landing kinda kickstarted catastrophic events. It was Olenna who poisoned Joffrey to protect Margaery, which led to Tyrion getting arrested, then him needing to be trial by combat that killed Sir Myrtell, which pissed off the kingdom where Myrcella was staying in, leading those Snake Girls kill her. That's two children of Cersei's down. Also, Tyrion getting betrayed by Shae led him to kill both her and Tywin, which made Cersei lose her father and let's be honest, Tywin was the one with most wisdom (however ruthless) compared to Cersei and Joffrey. He could have made Tommen a better king, which leads to the fourth point ... Margaery married and manipulated Tommen so when she died, he killed himself ... all this happened because Margaery was to marry Joffrey so Olenna killed him, leading to catastrophic events that took what Cersei dears most ... her children, I guess? (I don't know if I got some wrong ... I didn't have enough time to watch the full series even though I really want to, so I just watched the recaps Cramped) Don't get me wrong, Margaery's one of my fav characters so I'm not blaming her for anything, I'm actually kinda impressed. I think the younger beautiful queen is supposed to be Lyanna, as not only does she take Rhaegar from both cersei and Elia but Robert is so in love with her ghost he says her name on the night he and Cersei Consumate their marriage. She also takes everything she holds dearly in terms of power
How could it be Lyanna when Cersei wasn’t Queen until she married Robert.... Lyanna also was not prettier than Cersei according to book canon. The younger, more beautiful Queen is Daenerys.
The witch actually cursed her using blood magic😂 had Cercei not been so eager for prophecy and so rude to the witch things may have been different. That laugh at the end was like she just tricked Cercei into giving her her blood so she could curse her! That was her way of saying FYou! 😂

A lot of people don't seem to understand that this prophecy is referring to Margaery, not Daenerys. Margaery replaced Cersei as queen when she married Joffrey/Tommen. As a result of this, Cersei was demoted to queen mother; she was "cast down".

Surely Cersei had 4 children because I remember in season 1, Cersei told a story about how her first son (with black hair) died of a fever and her husband punched a hole in the wall to show he cared.
michael burn That is only in the show. However, some believe that the reason this child was not counted in Maggy's prophecy was because he did not live to a year old (or whatever the standard is for counting Westerosi children as having lived at all).
I wonder if she hadn’t known her prophecy she would have never tried to stop it, which could have been the cause of the prophecy coming true. Would there have been a different outcome?
Yeah but I think that specific prophecy would aim to Cersei's end. Sure, the show made her die with Jaime together but I'm almost certain the books are going to make Jaime kill her or even die in a heroic way with her to stop her madness one and for all.
well in a way he did, what with their being ‘secret’ lovers… Brianne told Jaime the same thing too, that Cersei would kill him before he left Winterfell for King’s Landing and Cersei
I will never forgive HBO for removing “and when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands around your pale white throat and choke the life from you” prophecy that was in the books. Valonqar translates to little brother in Valyrian. Had they not taken the route they did with Tyrion, this could of obviously been about him. Jaime was actually born after Cersei, however, and (most of us) had all hoped to see him kill her instead of that bs death they gave them in season 8. I wanted to watch Jaime cram that golden hand into her throat and crush it with his other hand! Would of been so much more satisfying-she would of choked just like that vile son of hers. I just got to this point in the books which is why I decided to watch this clip and I’ve always been annoyed about this since watching season 8. All of that being said, it would of also been satisfying to watch Tyrion strangle her, too. I’m not up to Tyrion’s story in the books again just yet so I don’t know what George R.R. Martin has planned for him. Just hope he follows through on this prophecy and Cersei is choked to death by one of her brothers!
It's so funny to me the double standarts. Daenerys third betrayal by love (chapter of the house of the undying in acok) can't be Jon killing her because that's misogynistic but ofc Jaime can lapidate his twin-sister because one is seem good and the other seem bad when both of them are identical characters (3 children, mirri=maggy, fire, etc etc)
Valar Valid point, although we still haven’t quite seen Daenerys’ full character development in the books which fans are rooting for Martin to write her better than the show did. Hopefully the books give us a more satisfying end!
@@shensee9348 Settle yourself. This comment is from three years ago. I HAVE read the books, and Valonqar translates to little brother in High Valyrian, but you can believe whatever you want to. Never gave two shits about GoT fanfiction either. Regardless, it’s really not that deep anymore, and whatever happens at this point is what it is.
All the comments from 2+ years ago of people predicting what would happen, no one knew that the end would be so badly botched and catastrophically tied up by awful writing to the point where this whole scene was basically made redundant. This show is a modern tragedy.
BlueBerryKing Valonquar apparently means "Little brother" in Valyrian. In the books the witchsays that the valonquar will strangle Cersei once all her children have died. Hence why she hated Tyrion.
+Jumping With A Buck it's funny cause the prophecy states that another person will cast her down and take all she holds dear. Didn't say anything about usurping or reclaiming a throne, so I still don't think anyone will be queen.
Striker163 true. Daenarys will sit on the Throne eventually but it won't be long. There's still that threat with the White Walkers and Dragon fire is the only thing that can kill them. I believe Daenarys will die in the battle with the White Walkers. I believe Tyrion will sit on the Throne in the end.
RebelWild21 I don’t think Tyrion will sit on the throne, he himself said he wouldn't. He was about to give up on life until Varys told him to follow Dany, he is an amazing character, but he wouldn't fit as a king, he needs a reason or incentive to keep going
mianna lov I didn't know Dany was behind Tommen, Myrcella and Joffrey's death; did I miss something? I mean, Cersei did say that she only loves her children, so she holds them dear, and Dany didn't even know of their existence, so how can she kill them? That's why I went with Margaery (before she died), because of the chain reaction Olenna caused when she poisoned Joffrey for Margaery(i.e. the death of most of her family). After they both died I went with Sansa because she was the one who told them what a monster Joffrey really is.
0:33 This moment is still one my favorite in all of GoT. The actress who plays Maggie just conveys so perfectly with body language how Maggie is like “Alright! Normally I don’t burden people anymore with letting them know their future, because in the end it destroys them. But for you? I’ll make an exception.”
ALLIKNOW You can't pull off something like including the most important part of a prophesy, in a flashback scene specifically about the prophesy? Also the valanqar part could refer to half the characters in the story....I get maybe spoiling what is prophesied to happen to her is a thing, but it's far from a specific "here's who will do it".
DashCat9 I didn't mean it like that, it can come across just a bit stupid on TV. It could be that they just split it up or that it's been cut for reasons. Personally I like the book version better, but it's not such a big deal really,
I think of this scene every time I heard people having zero sympathy for Cersei or when they box her in as the worst villainess in Game of Thrones. I always ask, “Would you have been able to hear this hard fate predicted to you, slowly watch it occur despite all your efforts, would you still find some reason to be happy, kind and gentle?” It is for sure possible that one could be humbled by such a life, and find greater sympathy for those who have it hard as well. But it’s also completely understandable why she would become a wreck of a human being, callous and cruel and conniving. Imagine if your childhood dreams were all foretold to come half-true and half some fucked up parody of what you imagined?
She asked for it even after being warned. Literally. Knowing the future caused her to be afraid, which in turn caused the future to come about- she lost her last child after trying to remove margery because of her fear of being displaced by a younger prettier queen.
Part of the point of this scene is that she's already cruel and callous. She's literally threatening one of her father's subjects to satisfy a whim, after being warned that it won't bring her happiness anyways, and it's strongly implied that she kills the friend she's with afterwards to prevent her from telling anyone. She is, as always, largely the cause of her own misery.
"And when your tears have drowned you, the Valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you." . Who is a self proclaimed drowned god with 2 good hands? Isnt it very clear?
Season 1 we find out that Cersei had a child with Robert. (She tells Catelyn) this wasn't in the books. Here Maggy tells her she will only have 3. Fucked yourselves over there HBO.
Sims3loser, The Awkward Simmer Yeah, I thought the whole point was that the ugly truths she said were reflected in her fuck ugly appearance and haunted Cersei all her life. Oh well.
The Mean Mongoose Perhaps Cersei's perspective of ugly was different. We see her as decent looking, Cersei thinks of her as a hag, because, you know, Cersei is Cersei. :)
TfaChicky So time and her bias against her distorted Cersei's perception? Good point. The "hot/decent looking backwoods witch" is actually a kind of "trope". Maggy was also hated and feared by people so maybe the tales of her ugliness were exaggerated... or they did not want to cast an unattractive person or bury someone's face in tons of makeup.
I definitely agree with that. I think it's up to interpretation. Whether you believe it was just a casting decision or whether GRRM reveals the worst of people in the sense of "If it's different, it's wrong or freaky" or if they piss me off they're a hag, hence they make her out to sound like a nasty old hag
Sims3loser, The Awkward Simmer No ugly people were allowed to play in GoT. She may at some point show her boobs.Would you like it if she is an old hag?
The prophecy was wrong though wasn't it? Because Cersie had another child, the original son with Robert. Whether or not she considered the baby hers/killed the baby later, she still gave birth to him and he lived for a time 🤷♀ Or was that just another point overshadowed as the series progressed?
BOOK SPOILER ALERT If memory serves, there is supposed to be a flashback with Tywin so maybe the rest of the prophecy will be told and Cersei will ask her father what "valonquer" means.
I dont know if george intended this but this prophecy echos one Nostradamus gave to Catherine de Medici, the famous french queen. She outlived all of her children. "Each of your sons will be king of France and you will outlive them all"
The girl with Cersei dies two weeks after this incident in the books. Reason? She told Cersei she fancied Jaime, Cersei got jealous (in a possessive sense, I guess) and drowned her in the well.
thomasw78 I wondered at first too, but I doubt it because she didn't really take everything she holds dear. Tommen died because of Cersei, not Margaery. Cersei still has Jaime, her Maester and the Mountain and is still at King's Landing. Plus since Cersei is the first Queen of the 7 kingdoms with all the that power I doubt Maggie would've laughed at Cersei like that if that was the case. So I predict Cersei will really lose everything she holds dear now in season 7. She will be cast down by Dany and not have anyone left. Jaimie will leave her, the Mountain will die and she won't have her Maester anymore.
i am just curious about cersei's death though... we all pretty much know that cersei is going to die in season 7, the question is by whom? Jaime or tyrion? both are younger than her, both have motives to kill her... Giving the Kill to jaime will be more dramatic, giving the kill to Tyrion will be more Epic... hard choice
I hate how they got rid of the valonqar prophecy. It explains why Cersei hates Tyrion such much and fears him despite the prophecy being really unclear.
For those talking about the brother prophecy, would it be best if she killed tyrion as a result of jamie having to choose to save one or the other somehow and then kills her for killing him?
I'm guessing question number three is this: "how will I die?" "one who is of your blood…will kill you." I'm going to guess the person that would be mentioned in that last is assumed by Cersei to be Tyrion when in actuality it's Jaime.
Victor M Cersei: Will the king and I have children? Maggy: Oh, aye. Six-and-ten (show says 20) for him, and three for you. Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds. And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar (Valyrian for "little brother") shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.

She is very close' Her friend was Melara Hetherspoon, she fell down a well and died not longer after, some speculate Cersei pushed her so she could never tell anyone bout the prophecy.
whoa that last part is dark! Cool info though thanks for sharing
@@JimmyisabotThat last part was so classic Cersei. 😂
Rhaegar? The man was betrothed to Elia Martell.
Correction: She wanted to be betrothed to Rhaegar but Aerys refused
It will have to be Tyrion who kills Cersei though. The prophecy says that the Valonquar will wrap "his hands" around her throat. Jaime has only one hand.
One of Game of Throne's best scenes and it helped to further develop Cersei Lannister as a character.
Too bad they didn't put the valonqar part. That explains her hatred for Tyrion so well, aside from her mother dying giving birth to him.
@@heyitsmira17 No wonder Cersei did what she did to Margaery.
John Johnson Let's hope they make a second part, that Cersei goes back to maggy.
Honestly, I think D&D are gonna go back to that scene later this season and have Maggy finish her prophecy or at least we'll see Cersei kill Melara. And ya I know it's not certain that Cersei killed her, but come on it was heavily implied.
I would also Like that but knowing the show runners they mostly likely wont
John Johnson that would be unfortunate, but it's hard to determine whether it's good or not. Their biggest audience has not read the books, so they're writing to please them more than us.
That's true. But it almost feels like they're trying to annoy us book readers. Just by adding in certain scenes (CotF with fireballs) or ignoring certain plot points (BwB, LS, Reznak etc.)
Also at the end of the prophecy scene Heatherspoon is ready for running out of the tent. I doubt she'll stick around to Hear she's going to die
This young Cersei did such a great job!
Razvan Gold Or maybe neither, Maggy never said it would be "her" little brother that will kill her. Asoiaf prophecies are never what they seem.
Could be Sandor/ the Hound. He is the younger brother of the Mountain, Cersei's bodyguard.
Jaime born first. Tyrion stated it when he was talking with Tywin. That will leave Tyrion as the only little brother Cercei has
Finally, Calanthe discovered the magical power inherited from her mother 😂

I know, I lied
But thats just my theory ...

I think the younger beautiful queen is supposed to be Lyanna, as not only does she take Rhaegar from both cersei and Elia but Robert is so in love with her ghost he says her name on the night he and Cersei Consumate their marriage. She also takes everything she holds dearly in terms of power
And Rhaegar DID dub Lyanna the "Queen of Love and Beauty"...
Not possible because Cersei was not a Queen at that time
How could it be Lyanna when Cersei wasn’t Queen until she married Robert.... Lyanna also was not prettier than Cersei according to book canon. The younger, more beautiful Queen is Daenerys.
YES!!!
Her laugh at the end was perfect.

It's indeed Margaery but I would say Arianne does fit the role as well. I know for a fact that her ambitions are aiming to getting Aegon Targaryen as her husband based on Dorne's old alliance with the Targaryen's and she's off to meet the mysterious heir who she seems too interested in getting closer to.
Except margaery didn't take everything she loved.

i guess the prophecy holds up.
Surely Cersei had 4 children because I remember in season 1, Cersei told a story about how her first son (with black hair) died of a fever and her husband punched a hole in the wall to show he cared.
michael burn That is only in the show. However, some believe that the reason this child was not counted in Maggy's prophecy was because he did not live to a year old (or whatever the standard is for counting Westerosi children as having lived at all).
she probably just counted how many will children lived and died. cersei and robert’s child was still a baby so she probably just didnt consider it
Somewhere cersei says "the truth is what we say it is"
Yeah. They ruined this scene with that addition and then removed the best part of the Valenqaar (or however it’d written)
Some spot on casting. She even kind of looks like a girl version of Joffrey.
I wonder if she hadn’t known her prophecy she would have never tried to stop it, which could have been the cause of the prophecy coming true. Would there have been a different outcome?
Thats how all propechies in ancient myths worked. People tried to avoid them so they caused them.
Then comes another...
younger=Sansa
more beautiful=Margaery
to cast you down=Daenerys
and take all you hold dear= Bran the freakin Broken
In the books she prophecied that Cersei's brother will kill her
Yeah but I think that specific prophecy would aim to Cersei's end.
Die at the hands of her brother * if you count the gold one
The line "before I gouge your boring eyes" really hits me. This young actor is really good. This very scene is amazing to watch indeed.
Shame they left out the bit about the valonquar or whatever
It's possible they filmed it and are saving it for the S7 premier. Kinda like how they did it with the Tower of Joy.
What's that?
BlueBerryKing Valonquar apparently means "Little brother" in Valyrian. In the books the witchsays that the valonquar will strangle Cersei once all her children have died. Hence why she hated Tyrion.
William Clayton ooooooooh, that makes sense
But... isn't Jaime younger than her by just a bit? maybe Jaime will strangle her
The questions I think Cersei should have asked “do I have any animals, in the future ” ?
Maggy: you have cats, dogs and horses but no elephants 🐘.
Queen Calanthe really did not take any of Cersei’s shit.
Well after 06x10, we know the new queen is Dany.
George RR Martin will probably change it dramatically and she won't be queen or something 😂
After they both died I went with Sansa because she was the one who told them what a monster Joffrey really is.
it's sending me that Bran turned out to be the younger, more beautiful queen who cast her down 🤣🤣

After the last seasons of the show, I understand why she was cackling.
"We're doing a Cersei flashback!"
Awesome, because it's very likely this scene.
"We're not going to do the whole prophesy, because reasons!"
:sigh:
DashCat9 Nah you can't pull something like that off on TV, just like introducing 30 new (semi-)important characters.
Personally I like the book version better, but it's not such a big deal really,
ALLIKNOW Oh, sure. It's just one of the things I've been looking forward to, and they left out the best bit. Blech. Picky book purist is picky. :)
DashCat9 they don't make the show for you, would be cool though, everyone gets their own personal show :P
All Lannisters'pride have pride.
I think of this scene every time I heard people having zero sympathy for Cersei or when they box her in as the worst villainess in Game of Thrones. I always ask, “Would you have been able to hear this hard fate predicted to you, slowly watch it occur despite all your efforts, would you still find some reason to be happy, kind and gentle?”
It is for sure possible that one could be humbled by such a life, and find greater sympathy for those who have it hard as well.
I mean, she dorwned Melara Heterspoon to make sure the prpphecy came true in the first place
She brought the professy to life so YEAH, she did it to herself. Also in giving her herblood 🤷🏿♀️ don't threaten a witch
Dude, she was already a little sh**-a$$ psycho at this point. Bad parenting.
I really hope they filmed an extended version of this scene which includes "the valonqar" line and D&D are saving it for the future.

The prophecy was wrong though wasn't it? Because Cersie had another child, the original son with Robert. Whether or not she considered the baby hers/killed the baby later, she still gave birth to him and he lived for a time 🤷♀ Or was that just another point overshadowed as the series progressed?
They left out the prophecy that Cercei will die on the hands of a "The Valonquer", means "Little Brother". *hints* ;)
Maybe they filmed it and cut it deliberately, like the TOJ
Johdi may knocked this scene out the ballpark
BOOK SPOILER ALERT
If memory serves, there is supposed to be a flashback with Tywin so maybe the rest of the prophecy will be told and Cersei will ask her father what "valonquer" means.
Don't get your hopes up. They'll most likely leave that part out.
The witch was wrong because Cersei died by severe head trauma not the Valonqar.

Jodhi May is always amazing.
The girl with Cersei dies two weeks after this incident in the books. Reason? She told Cersei she fancied Jaime, Cersei got jealous (in a possessive sense, I guess) and drowned her in the well.

+Lady_Alpha lol it was a MUST! Amazing really how everythings panning out. I think the speculations and theories is what keeps me so hooked :D
I assumed it was Margery who was the younger more beautiful queen since that already happened.
thomasw78 I wondered at first too, but I doubt it because she didn't really take everything she holds dear.
So this is what Calanthe has been doing
