Later Jeep Grand Wagoneers have a special high efficiency trans cooler: identifiable by rectangle cross-section tubing and hexagon-shaped ends where the hose barbs are. 90s Suburbans and chevy pickups have awesome underhood worklights that have a removable magnetic-based light on a 20+ft reel-out cord. Some of the XJs in the late 80s had an under-hood work light that was on a reel with a magnet on it. The wire was long enough to go all the way to the back of the Jeep and stick to the fender if you were changing a tire. I also used it by pulling close enough to friend's vehicle that was broken down so we could see under the hood if you did not have a flash light.

I use to always check for starters, alternator and good radiators. You have to check everything carefully. A vehicle smashed in the back or T boned leaves the engine compartment nice. I think it's a sorry misfortune to many to put new expensive parts on a vehicle only to have someone run into it. Also a good way to find tires. Same thing happens. EGR Solenoid on a Ford Probe GT is $400. Junk yard, $5. There is also an electronic sensor who's only job is to turn on a light if the EGR isn't within parameters and that's over $100. Thumbs up for the high idle. There is a write up on how to do that and the wiring is already in the 97 and later XJ's IIRC, you just need to hook up a switch for it. All it does is connect one of the wires to ground when switched on, but the ECU is designed to read that input and idle higher. I'm going to do this one day.
