沙茶麵 in Min Nan language is called Sate Mie with spicy peanut sauce. The peanut sauce is originated from Indonesia and not India. BTW, how do you say 3片 (3 pieces) in Min Nan language?
@@Gourmet.TravelNotes OK. In Min Nan language, would you pronounce 3 (三) as "Sa" and 片 as "Te"? To be honest with you, I don't know much about Min Nan language. However, I do speak Hokkian language. "Sa" and "Te" in Hokkian language literally mean "Three" and "Pieces" (3片 as in Mandarin / Chinese language), respectively. In Indonesian language, the word peanut is "Kacang" and the word sauce is "Bumbu" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumbu_(seasoning)). So, peanut sauce in Indonesian language is called "Bumbu Kacang" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peanut_sauce). In Indonesia, there are at least two purposes for a peanut sauce that I know of, namely (1) used as a salad dressing in a spicy salad called "Pecel" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pecel) -- As such, the peanut sauce is called "Bumbu Pecel", -- and (2) used as a spicy sauce in a BBQ Kebab (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kebab) called "Satay" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satay). According to my grandparents who learnt this from their grandparents (passed from old generations to newer generations), Indonesian used to call "Satay" as "daging tusuk" (daging = meat and tusuk = skew) Accordingly, when the Chinese people migrated to S.E. Asian regions long ago (probably around 16th century), they had a hard time to say and / or pronounce the words "daging tusuk". However, they notice each skewer contained only 2 pieces of meat, thus the word "Satay" was invented. When the peanut sauce was brought to Xiamen, the Chinese who translated "SaTe" probably thought the word "Te" means tea (茶).
👋👍
🌹😋😋😋thanks you 🫶🇻🇳

@@Gourmet.TravelNotes 感謝告知...就擔心時間配不好下午去五香雞捲沒了....我很懷念閩南味的雞捲30年前在廈門吃過....現在僅看見八市有....希望我有那個福氣嘗嘗
有的,就算八市没有,其他地方也都有卖鸡卷和五香卷的😀
@@Gourmet.TravelNotes
Lisa, we are traveling to Xiamen next year, can we hire you as tour guide? Please post your contact info,
