Thank you, SO very much for showing how to make this darling mermaid tail. I am embroidering a vintage denim jacket for my 15 year old granddaughter. We were swimming in Lake Michigan and she had her mom, brother and I play mermaids. I wanted to add this fun memory to her jacket and was wonderfully surprised to find exactly what I was looking for, your detailed and very helpful videoS!! How kind of you to show how to do this pattern...again, THANK YOU!
Also, I loved listening to your soft, explaining lovely sounding voice! 😊👍🩷👋
Oh how fun! I always played mermaids when I went swimming with my sisters! We would choose what colors our tails and shells were. Haha! Glad you were able to use the pattern/tutorial for such a special project.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I love your videos! Can't wait for your book!
Thank you so much!!!
I watched a handful of videos to try to understand how to finish the back of a cross-stitch with felt, and this was the best one I found. Thanks for the tutorial!
Best video on finishing the back of the embroidery! Thanks for sharing :)
That little heart is a nice touch!
Thank you so much for your video about applying felt backing. I am going to use it on my hoop embroidered project that I just finsihed! Thanks.
I’m new at embroidering. I was wondering what to do with the back. Thanks for the tutorial ❤️👏🏼
You're welcome! I just figured out how to do this myself, and it makes the back so pretty. :)
This is exactly what I've been trying to find! Thank you!

This is genius!!

Would the backing with running stitch work with Aida? I do a blanket stitch for the felt.
Hi, I'm wondering after finishing off the project with the felt backing, do any of these stitches show up in the front (the embroidered) side?
No because the stitches only go through the excess fabric that is bunched up in the back of the hoop. None of them should be going through the fabric on the front of the hoop.
@@CutesyCrafts Thanks so much! I'm loving your site. I used your bird/floral pattern to make a wall hanging and now want to make the peacock/flamingo one - LOVE that design on so many levels. Thanks so much for a great site with so many cool tips.
I love your tutorials! The perfect amount of detail! I also love the look of the backing on this, flawless! Quick question, though. How do you suggest this be displayed if the back is covered? Should I add a hook of sorts to that top of the back to hang it? Or maybe a little bit of wire from one side to the other?
I always just hang mine with a small nail through the metal part on the top of the hoop. I've never done it, but you can probably add some kind of hook or loop to the top of the felt for hanging. Maybe a loop of ribbon?
Hey I love your videos! You are an incredible teacher :) Can I ask what kind of cloth you've used for this finished piece in particular? I bought some cloth on Amazon but as soon as I cut it to size it began to fray. Thank you
You have to use felt fabric so it doesn't fray. The one I'm using here is a wool/rayon blend of felt made by National Nonwovens. You can buy it at Joann Fabric or a couple online stores (Prairie Point Junction and Benzie are a couple that come to mind).
I loved this but I have a question. How can I protect the front of the embroidery from dust etc. while using a hoop. I normally frame my embroidery.
Not sure. I use a fabric protecting spray when I make necklaces, but I think that's mainly to protect against liquid.
Wat will happen if we take the frame out
Is it possible to put them into a frame? If so, do you have to do anything different to them?
Yes, you can frame embroidery. You don't have to do anything different. I've also mounted one on a painters canvas using upholstery tacks.
Please help me. So when you finish the embroidery you can’t take it off the hoop ?? That’s why you finish it like that ??? I don’t understand this step. Is it so you can offer it or this is the only thing you can do once you finish. I thought If I do the embroidery then I would use it framed or as a pillow.
This is only for if you want to leave it framed in the hoop for display. You can definitely take your work out and use it on a pillow or anything you want.
Thank you 😊
What do i do if I run out of string before i can finish it? :’)
Tie off the string you're using. Bring in a new string with a knot on the end, in the same place you left off.
Which material you used for finishing?I mean that white thing
This is felt fabric.
Which type of cloth is used for covering back of the hoop ??
felt
What brand of hoop is this please?
Ooh, I don't know. I was just using random ones that I had. I've gotten some from thrift stores and craft stores.
