I learned to hand embroider when I was about ten years old. I began cross stitching in my twenties. I have always struggled to make perfect French knots. I am now 68 years old - I found your video and following your easy instructions, I can now make the most beautiful, perfect, French Knots!!!! I am so excited! Thank you!!
I can remember when my mom taught us girls to embroidery and I enjoyed it by hand, I had a shirt that I embroiled and all my friends asked me where I got my shorts and I said I had done all the artwork myself they would say I wish I knew how I said it's simple and fun. The thing is I have forgotten how to use all the types of stitching so, I am excited to learn how I'm sure it will come back and it's all done by hand which to me it's more meaningful for the person who you are giving it to.
Hi Jessica, thank you so much for your RUclips channel 🤗!!! I am a beginner and I've been winging it since last Christmas, but I wasted a lot of time not doing anything correctly. You are an awesome teacher and I'm realizing that I have a lot to learn, so, here I go 😃
Thank you for sending this video to me and I not only watched the brief discussion about needles, but also watched the rest of the video too! I like your needlebook by the way! Its not too small nor too large. I can bet you have a video on how to create one too! It doesn't look difficult to make. I guess the most important things to remember about needles is regarding the type of fabric I use, how many strands of floss, and if the needle goes through the fabric easily. There shouldn't be a struggle. That would be an indicator for me that I am using the wrong needle. I am sure I will be more comfortable with choosing needles as I gain experience. 😊
Omg I’m doing this for the first time and i was so lost about supplies and other things and you’ve answered everything in this video! Thank you so much for doing this, you’re an angel!
I hand made a Rhynestone sewing suit, im new to sewing, and i had a next project when i finish the Rhynestone suit, that i'm going to try to do some Embroidery to a different suit, and i hope this video help me to learn how to, because the next project is hard af too.. Thanks for making this for free and so good quality.
So excited to start my first project today! Your videos are very helpful and I’m sure I’ll have to watch them 100 times through the process but you make it look very easy! Can’t wait to see how this look when finished, if well, I hope to be able to stitch things on my kids clothes after I try this pattern.❤
I taught myself how to cross-stitch and embroider when I was a teenager and just picked it back up again about 20 years later. I didn’t realize I was supposed to not tie all the threads together at the end, but am supposed to leave one end free. I’m always learning. I also noticed that I use a mixture of chain stitch and back stitch. I basically do a back stitch but instead of going back through the last hole, I go inside of the last stitch to give the chain look. It looks the same, it’s just backwards.
I love all your videos, thank you! I ordered the floss you recommended from Amazon and am wondering if you meant for it to be variegated, I didn't notice when I ordered and was surprised when it arrived.
Thank you for sharing this video!! I’m so excited to get started. I want to embroider OVER a printed design (because that decal is starting to fade). Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to best prepare a pattern based on what’s already there?
Even stitches just come with practice. I've also seen people draw a small line with a pen on their finger to hold up to their work as they stitch. That might help. There is no perfect length, just depends on what look you are going for. I change the length of my stitches to make them shorter when on curves, so they don't all need to be the same length anyway.
Yes, it should work. Check out my blog post on how to embroider a t-shirt. cutesycrafts.com/2021/12/how-to-embroider-a-t-shirt-by-hand.html It should be similar with the stretchy hoodie fabric.
You only tie a knot at the end of the long part. If you tied a knot by the needle, then your needle wouldn't get through the fabric. The needle should stay on as long as you have a long enough tail.
You can buy the pre-printed fabric here: www.etsy.com/listing/939556611/printed-fabric-for-stitch-sampler or go to cutesycrafts.com to download the pdf pattern.
Im sorry I don't understand, why wya beginner want to buy more expensive than expensive needles. Also I would think that derft needles are less expensive than the tulip needles.
Your comment is so confusing to read because you don’t know how to spell. Thankfully I can understand what you’re saying. The reason why it’s so expensive is because of the quality of the materials. Going cheap is not an option because then it’s either you have fragile tools/items or it’s not embroidery tools. It’s like saying why would a new driver go drive a car because they’re expensive and should learn to drive on a bike on the road instead.
I can’t believe this is on RUclips for free 🤩 thank you!!
You're welcome!!

thank you so much. perfect tutorial video
Thanks! Super helpful!
How do you make your stitches even? Is there a certain distance measurement you recommend ? I’m having trouble with that. Thanks!!

Hi, I'm going to try to do embroidery on a hoodie and was wondering if there's any tips for that or if it would even work.
Yes, it should work. Check out my blog post on how to embroider a t-shirt. cutesycrafts.com/2021/12/how-to-embroider-a-t-shirt-by-hand.html It should be similar with the stretchy hoodie fabric.
Wow! My mom taught ,but I've forgotten most. Thankyou.
This video was so so clarifying, thank you very much ❤️❤️❤️
could i make my own pattern? i want to embroider a shirt with an image of my favorite pokemon (the shirt is plain grey and i wanted a pop of color)
Yes! You can draw something, or I know that some people like to use free coloring pages they find online. Have fun!
9:50 so you don't tie a knot to keep the needle in place without it coming off the thread? If that makes sense
You only tie a knot at the end of the long part. If you tied a knot by the needle, then your needle wouldn't get through the fabric. The needle should stay on as long as you have a long enough tail.
Thanks!
I’m looking to purchase the pattern of different stitches Is there a link! I’m excited to get started
You can buy the pre-printed fabric here: www.etsy.com/listing/939556611/printed-fabric-for-stitch-sampler or go to cutesycrafts.com to download the pdf pattern.
I just looked through your videos. I do not see one about creating a needlebook. Where did you find the pattern for the one you have?
A friend actually made it for me, so I don't have a pattern. Sorry.
I found embroidery hoops in a thrift store. They were in good condition.
I've found some nice ones there too. The older ones sometimes have prettier hardware too.
Where’s the link for the fabric?
