The backfill of the ditch is not structural it’s just a grass area you don’t need to compact with a tamper in 2 inch lifts also this is residential work you should be doing it T & M. Not bid. If you can’t find a lateral that’s not the contractors problem. So the 450 should be a cost to the customer. There’s way too many unknowns in this type of work to be bid work. Just my 2 cents

I am owner builder on this project so for me it just means extra work. 😆 Since it is so I'm close to the driveway that gets heavy trailers on it I decided to compact the hole as best as I can. Maybe overkill but I don't want our new driveway we'll build next year to develop a dip on that edge.
