I'm an American that's been fortunate to have visited Taiwan. It is a wonderful free country made so by it's admirable people. It would be a tragedy and base betrayal for the US or any ally of Taiwan to abandon them for money or cowardice.

Embarrassed to say, I had to read/search Yahoo, to know where and what is Taiwan.

Taiwan government made a mistake by taking the name as ROC(Republic of China). It should change the name to Republic of Taiwan(ROT). Even though name is not matter as it is a democratic state/country/sovereignty. But for international view and conceived, it is a very important matter.

We have all the rights of modern democracies (even gay marriage). But our perennial fear is the Communist Party of China, which threatens us every day. Please support Taiwan. With the shift of power to Asia, our hope rests largely on India, the largest democracy in the world.
