Sounds truly analog all around. It's hard to believe the Aira's are digital. I'm not big on Roland these days, but I've got to admit they seem to have hit the mark with the Aira series. Great song, sounds awesome!!
Happy to have found your vid, excellent work! I was searching for the TR-8 en TB-3 in action, for real, not the endless talk about what it can do. Think I found it :-)
I just purchased a Microkorg, I’m a total noob, but an old school techno/trance fiend.. I’m currently shopping for drum machines and looking up tutorials for how to midi sync and found this.. absolutely amazing and inspiring! This video has me feeling pretty excited, such a good jam!🤘
I've already watched this video numerous times and just can't enough of the tb3, tr8 and microkorg! Of course you made it happen and kudos to that! Can you make another video of just the 3 again? Thanks!
Bitte bitte immer wieder gern...Weihnachten ist nicht mehr lang hin dann bin ich auch im Besitz der Roland TR-8 & TB 8 villeicht stell ich auch noch mal ne kleine Live Set rein :-)
Nice song ! I have the MK + Tr-8s + Kaossilator pro (for the bass sound loop) and trying to make a song like that, i love it ! Thx i m verry inspired lol (My bad english, i m learning)
Nice tune. Now, i have both the TB3 and TR8. My mate has the same MicroKorg. I'm assuming that the tb3 is the slave, the tr8 sets the tempo, and the MicroKorg is taking its signals from the tb3, ie midi out from the tb3 to midi in on the MicroKorg. Is this how you have it set up here. Thanks in advance.
Nice one I like it :) I'm quite a beginner in this area, how do you sync them together? I mean to sync the bassline to be on the same tempo as the drum machine? What kind of sound card is needed for these 3? Thanks!
chillige Acid Baseline und nebenbei erwähnt überrascht mich der Microkorg immer wieder, bei den geringen Anschaffungskosten kann wohl garnichts falsch machen.
This is probably the first time I hear TB-3 sounding good. Usually - and I have played with it in the store few times plus listened a lot on internet as well - it sounds very plastic digital dull and ugly all together . You made it sound really nice and analogue. Did you pls use some tricks or its just going into the mixer .. ? Thanx .
nice setup Matteo , i have a question , i have just bough 3 things and i'm trying to connect them thru midi so the machines run all in sync . Its a mc-303 + tb 3 + micro korg , i want to have the 303 as master and the rest in slave but all syncd up true midi . How do i connect this togheter ? thnxs Roland
HI thanks! The drum machine sends the midi clock to the bassline while the microkorg is not synced. In my other video with the microbrute, i use again the drum to sync bassline and microbrute while microkorg is set to 85 bpm in its internal clock
Hey! Quick question, I'm looking to buy a tr8 and set it up with my microkorg for live performance. Are all your controllers connected through a midi interface and then through an amp?
+Matthew Wallen Hi Matthew, in the setup of this video the only midi going is the clock going from the TR8 midi out to the TB3 midi in with a cable. I am playing the korg independently. Then they all connect to the Focusrite Saffire 14. In the more complex setup I am using in my live sets in clubs I use Ableton as a master clock and send all the messages this way Ableton > Focusrite > Kenton Thru-5 (that splits the signal into 5 outputs) > Synths. In this way the clock or the notes are sent at the exact same time to all the synth with no delays. But right now I am playing with 5/6 synths, if you use 2/3 synth you can chain them directly with a cable if the one in the middle supports midi thru. The TR8 can also receive midi with the usb. There are many possibilities, it depends on what you have to do.
Thank you so much for responding!!! My buddies and I are looking to start playing live with more synths. I want to hook up a microkorg, tr8, and some sort of sampler (if you have any recommendations) through an amp. I've been having issues hooking up my microkorg using my MIDI to usb cable to my laptop and then routing it through my amp from my 2 channel m-audio interface. What equipment do I need to get my TR8/microkorg to send through my laptop then to my amp? Thanks! -M
+Matthew Wallen Why don't you just use it independently like Matteo did and connect it via 2 quarter inch cords into your audio interface. You will hear yourself playing if your laptop is on and your amp is connected to the output of your interface. If you want to incorporate the TR8 and a sampler into you set up, then you will need an interface with more inputs.

Eric Hajjar thank you Eric :)

Great video showing these three together in real time play
That MK patch is killer.

Sounds great and looks like a lot of fun. You've inspired me!
Thank you ;)

Bravo, bei suoni...stavo pensando di comprare la TR8 e mi hai dato la conferma, grazie

Too dope! Rota, Spain, 1998...
Awesome man, I have a similar set up but with a mininova instead of microkorg. Very cool
Thanks :) Mininova is cool! i also have a microbrute and a juno-106 (often broken), i'll try to add them in future videos.
yeah.. a mininova will be my next synth.. i think it will work perfectly in addition to my tr-8 and 303's :D
***** Just be wary of the midi clock drift on the Mininova
Just got a mininova, are they decent.
Sounds cool!
i love this track... :-) i've the same soundcard, the same monitor, minibrute, mKorg, tr-8 and tb-3
Thank you, great gear ;)

also wondering about the hookup order
Nice video. I guess you need the other gadgets to make the drum loops etc?
Tr3 loops
Nice.
Great stuff. I'd like to see what you would do with something like Octatrack. I subbed btw.
Thanks Jim, I'll get back recording soon, with juno and prophet 08
game changin!!!!!
very nice you just cant beat roland gear
Thanks ;)
skill!!!
Great :-)
Can this set up work with the new NI S-series range, any advice would be much appreciated!
Nice one I like it :)
I'm quite a beginner in this area, how do you sync them together?
I mean to sync the bassline to be on the same tempo as the drum machine?
What kind of sound card is needed for these 3?
Thanks!
Nemethszyszy MIDI cables between the devices
all you need is to syc the units with midi cables, two are required midi in midi out .its a five pin cable

I use a microKorg with my Aira gear too. It fits in extremely well, right?!?
decided. Mikro Korg next purchase !
Same setup here 😁

Hi. Is there a way to control the time from the tr8? I only manage to control it from the microkorg. Great sound!
Cool! Wie hast du das Video/Sound aufgenommen? VG
Hallo, audio with a focusrite saffire 14 and video with an ipad. Then i put them together with Logic X. Tchüss
What are the connections?
veramente bello ! (I used translate for this , I hope t comes translates okay :) )
+Keith Gibson Yep that is correct! Thanks ;)
La bass me fais pensé à Daft Punk
the microkorg dont fit in the mix
cool !
nice
