Maybe a piece of ribbon/trim where it folds would make it look like a design choice instead of a fit issue? I think a pin tuck would be too difficult to add. I'm glad you're happy with it!
There's nothing wrong with leaning on your friends when you need to. Many safe and sound returns 🧸🍵🍩. I recognize one of your petticoat patterns. I have this exact pattern in my stash (Style 2257). I have bought it 🔙 in the late 1990s. Take care and stay safe🧸🍵🍩. Hope🥺to see your future videos🧸🍵🍩.
What a beautiful beautiful dress you'll be the Belle of the ball (wedding). Love the floof it's not to much and the holographic material was a perfect choice. ❤
Very beautiful! I like to test a microtex needle and a ballpoint like something for jersey. On any metallic ish fabric. Even though it's woven sometimes the ballpoint more moves the threads apart instead of cutting them and sometimes the thin sharp needles work best by making a nice clean cut.
Beautiful. I have encountered a few fabrics like that. A couple of them had a super soft hand and you totally wouldn't expect that. I even had problems with hand stitching them. Best of luck with a sharper needle. I can't really give any advice, because each fabric objected to different tensions and threads, and needles and techniques. Gorgeous dress.
I’d never have paired that fabric with that pattern, but man did it come out stunning. I’m still working on sewing with colors and your visions really teach me a lot.
I'm thrilled for this vintage sewing project and sew with me session. It's going to be a journey filled with elegance and creativity. We've sent you a direct message on Tiktok. We would love to connect and collaborate with you🙂.
Magnificent ❤ I love making outfits for my friend's special events. It's such a wonderful way to show love. For the last wedding I went to, i made a dark green suit lined with the chibi Avengers cotton and i added speach bubbles to the little Lokis of my favorite quotes, so the suit looked serious and grown up on the outside, but fun on the inside. I also commiserate with you on the gathering stitches. Once i find a method i like the look of its usually the most time consuming option, and i know my brain isn't going to let me take any shortcuts
Love the dress & petticoat. Hope you had a nice time at the wedding. Always admire your courage to do your reveals outside. Also, have you read Lessons in Chemistry? I think you’d like it xxx
That dress is amazing! You are going to be the "belle of the ball"! Excellent job on the fit, BTW, despite what you think! I have found that the easiest way to cover exposed inside edges with something flexible and soft, is to use fold over elastic. It's wider than bias tape, often less expensive, comes in just as many colors, and stretches enough to pull around to cover both sides of the seam allowances. Try it!
Pretty spectacular! If a sharp needle doesn't work for that future use of that fabric, maybe a leather needle will work? Because it looks kind of like the texture might be similar to faux leather or vinyl.
This outfit is gorgeous, thank you for sharing ❤. You must have had a lot of compliments at the wedding! I have a question: at minute 8:40 you are wearing a dress (I think) that also looks very nice. I love the fabric. Did you sew that one yourself as well, and if so did you make a video?
I think it was you( im kind of going by the hair colour) over on Stephenie Canada's channel. You were using AI to thrift. Hope it was you!? 😂 Im not queer but i love your dress and petticoat! 🩷 Others discussed needles so i won't. Its brave of you to do a breakdown and discuss costs. The more knowledge we have of what goes into making a garment or quilt ( this is what i make) we can make informed decisions. Hope you had fun at the wedding 😊💗
Hi there- as always, thanks for the great content! Curious: when you do your cost breakdowns, you compare to what someone might be able to buy for that same about, but you’re not including profit margins (of probably at least 30%). Is this suggesting buying a custom dress/item directly from a sewist? If not, you could add profit margin to your costs for the comparison (taking a $500 cost to $714 for example) I think your work is lovely and high quality :-)
Totally true, I do not add in a profit margin which a business would. Overall one of my goals of my price breakdown is to make people think about how most fashion today does not pay their workers a living wage.
I got it at Allyn's bridal fabric store in Denver, they do not have a site so you'd have to call/email but they'd have lots of great options for non-traditional dresses
are many people in you area (not just seamstress) making anywhere near $32/hr? i live in kansas and i'm pretty sure ones in the city are not making near that. i definitely understand making a living wage, however, i would think living expenses would be based on a 2 income household. but that is just a guess.
Since Seattle is a tech based place a lot of people do make the living wage (also I looked and Kansas minimum wage is $7.25 and Seattle's is over $18). And when I researched what constitutes a living wage I looked specifically for a single person with no kids. A double income family has a different living wage than me because they have 2 people to have expenses for. I consider a living wage solidly middle class, not just above poverty line.
Rather than open it up to understitch, you can understitch by hand while it`s in its present state. good luck From UK x
I love ❤❤ my bobbin said “I love her dress! She’s so fancy, she’s really so beautiful”
Awww that is so sweet!
Surprisingly I adore the dress. The iridescent fabric works well with the pattern you chose. Now you have an open mind with this type of fabric 😊
I’m just super proud of you for all the reasons!!!
Maybe a piece of ribbon/trim where it folds would make it look like a design choice instead of a fit issue? I think a pin tuck would be too difficult to add.
I'm glad you're happy with it!
Very cute. Spooky needs a sparkly matching tuxedo.

So beautiful! Good job!! I love how the fabric looks heavy/plasticy but it behaves like a lightweight. It gives a very whimsical feel to it!
Thank you! It is such a weird/interesting fabric!
Beautiful as always! You always look so pretty in Purples and Blues. Congratulations to your friends on their marriage!!! 🎉❤
you look like a mermaid princess! beautiful dress
That holo fabric is so beautiful 🥹🥹🥹!
Look at you! well done girl❤
So pretty! Definitely counts as "real holo" 😁
A fabulous dress for a wedding you look wonderful 👍😊 x
What a beautiful beautiful dress you'll be the Belle of the ball (wedding). Love the floof it's not to much and the holographic material was a perfect choice. ❤
Your fabric choices are always fantastic. Nice work.
Love it! I dip my spiral steel boning in plastidip like the handles of rubberized tools
OOOHHHH that is so smart!
Very beautiful! I like to test a microtex needle and a ballpoint like something for jersey. On any metallic ish fabric. Even though it's woven sometimes the ballpoint more moves the threads apart instead of cutting them and sometimes the thin sharp needles work best by making a nice clean cut.
It's so shiny! ❤

Gorgeous dress.
Hi Haley Marie. Your ball gown dress looks amazing the petticoat makes it. You have definitely out done yourself this time.
I SWEAR I don’t say this every time. But this is FOR REAL the best dress EVER!!!!❤❤❤
Zenon prom in the best way😂👏👏👏
OMG YES
Freakin' fabulous!
You look absolutely gorgeous!💜💜
How beautiful ❤

I’d never have paired that fabric with that pattern, but man did it come out stunning. I’m still working on sewing with colors and your visions really teach me a lot.
This turned out so pretty! The colour is just stunning! 😍
Very pretty 😀

Thanks you! And that outfit sounds so fun, I love adding in fun linings.
I love it!
This turned out beautiful! The fabric reminds me of Lisa frank 90’s aesthetic in an amazing way!
I love this holo dress! I worked with a similar fabric and changing to a microtex, or sharps, instantly solved my problem.
❤ amazing
The dress is spectacular! The fabric itself, but also the pattern you chose and how you put it together.
The dress is amazing! 🤩 Well done. I think for this kind of fabric a microtex needle might work best? Enjoy the wedding! 😊
Fabulous gown and colors!! Gender bend fashion on! .... learning so much about fabric type! Thank you!!
Love the dress & petticoat. Hope you had a nice time at the wedding. Always admire your courage to do your reveals outside. Also, have you read Lessons in Chemistry? I think you’d like it xxx
I'll add it to my list thanks!
this is amazing!!!!
So sparkly! Love it. Have a great time at the wedding.

That makes total sense I'll have to give it a try!
This is gorgeous! Love how it turned out :) The buttons really did pull it all together and take it from “plain” to amazing
Wow! This came out perfect! It’s really inspiring me to think about sewing formalwear
Thank you! And sewing formalwear isn't too different technique wise, it just uses different fabric!
That dress is so gorgeous!!! You look amazing in it!!
simply wonderful, by far my favourite dress. Such lovely material which works so well. Congratulations on making a stunning dress, From the UK xx
Beautiful, love all of the colors, great work. 💯

Ooh goody I'm first! Your fabric looks wonderful on camera, don't worry. That iridescence is magical.
I was on my way for this, but my team decided to call me when I was just getting into it :)
Kj
That fabric is gorgeous, can you share a link to where you got it? Awesome dress, I hope the wedding turned out great!
I got it in a fabric shop in Denver called Allyn's they do not sell online but you could try calling/emailing!
The dress and petticoat came out very nice. But why did you say the dress reminds/looks like a tuxedo? I like it very much. I don't see a tux...
The dress is a Laura Ashely dress a friend sent to me

@@HaleyMarieVintage that makes perfect sense! Thanks for replying
I adore that fabric! where did you get it? i am making my own wedding dress and aiming to go very nontraditional with it
I got it at Allyn's bridal fabric store in Denver, they do not have a site so you'd have to call/email but they'd have lots of great options for non-traditional dresses
LOL LOL>..................... OMG!! I haven't finished the first part of this video ...... Spooky thoooooooooooooo LOL!!!!
