I would just like to point out that Yelich led this group in fWAR last season, has an MVP in the bag, and his statcast page is very pretty. Definitely deserves a top spot more than Reynolds.
Are you kidding? It's clear he is the only one out of the three that knows ball. Jake keeping Steven Kwan at the fourth tier is ridiculous, he at least belongs in the third tier. A 9.3 war in two seasons at the left field position is insane.
@@adu3830 Yeah, but look how you're even phrasing that. "9.3 WAR in two seasons"...because that split is 5.5 then 3.6. Also, if you break down that 5.5 WAR it's 4.0 offensive, 1.0 defensive....then the 2023 is 1.9 offensive, 1.2 defensive. That's a massive drop both from year to year and in a specific category. Am I saying he won't end up third tier in time? No. Am I saying RIGHT NOW he's fourth tier? Yes.
I come from the future with a Steven Kwan update - "Kwan batting .353 with a league-leading 47 hits and 28 runs. He has gone 74 straight plate appearances before his last strikeout." - ESPN
R u mostly referring to his feelings on Kelnic? Cuz I'm not a Mets, Ms or Bravos fan, and I agree with Jolly in the sense that I feel like his hype his better than his proven sustained talent
Jolly olive can’t be taken seriously with anything Mets related including kelenic. No offense but Jeff McNeil clearly has fallen off from his peak a couple years ago.
Kelenic has been awful outside of the first half (mainly first month) of last season. The conversation surrounding Kelenic seems fair overall. Jolly was not far off here.
Falling off and still accounting for 2.5 WAR? Pretty sick tbf Especially since the Mets paid him a third of the total a 2.5 WAR season is hypothesized to be worth (1 WAR is worth 8 mil, they paid him 6).
@joshuameyer1382 in total value they're not far off, but Noot is a career 117 wRC+ with a .780 OPS. He's a 3.9 fWAR/600 PA player. Bader is still a strong player thanks to baserunning and defense, but his hitting is very weak at a 92 wRC+ and a .706 OPS. But he does provide strong overall value at 3.7 fWAR/600 Same player nowhere close. Same value, kinda. But Noot has another level in there
@joshuameyer1382 You said he was the 4th best OFer on the Cardinals and those three are his competition. He also had a 3.3 bWAR so both sites are in agreement that he's a really good player
You know I'm definitely not a Yankees fan at all but i still like to hear what they gotta say. I actually thought of something cuz I love baseball but I don't have the slightest knowledge about players stats and what not or I'd make another podcast about baseball and how I love my team too but it's OK can't be good at everything. Best of luck this season, guys! Let's go Royals!
The Yankees had 4 guys with a 100+ OPS last year, only 8 guys with an 87+ OPS and 150+ ABs. Andrew Benitendi may not be smacking a .300 BA last year, but he was effective enough to have a positive WAR despite his dismal OPS+ and wouldve slotted as the yankees 7th best everyday player by WAR last year. He's fallen, but it doesn't mean he's bad. Id still take him on a team looking to get good again
I think Happ is a better defensive player (just not last year) and will be going forward, but yeah he has been barely above League average with the bat. Little Rude to yelich, but I'm guessing it's cause Happ works for them
@@grime-ndofficial9894 Yelich had a couple monster seasons years ago but every other year his ops+ is pretty on par with Happ and Happ is much better defender
All I am going to say is take a quick look at the fangraphs defensive leaderboard for LF and tell me why the top guy on that list just kept getting ignored? Very interesting especially coming from “snakes” Jake
I maintain that the problem with these videos is that these guys don't know how a tier list works. Just use normal tiers and compare the players instead of getting cute with it.
as soon as Jolly said Foolish…boy would it be fun to watch you three (and bug bug dude ofc) chop it up. Acuña is a right fielder…could be something here.
Randy is awful in the field. Baseball savant grades Randy as 10th percentile for Outs Above Average. All of his defensive metrics are well below average. He is better offensively, but his batting average is continually falling year-on-year. Sure he has had one all-time postseason, but hasn't been able to reach those heights again..
Nootbaar had a higher OPS+ than reynolds, and walked almost as much as he struck out (14.3BB% vs 19.7K%) along with a ton of other stats. Top 5 for sure, shot at #1 if you ask me
For me it's obvious that Jolly Olive knows far more about baseball than Jake and his sidekick. The Kwan rating is absolutely ridiculous. This man has a 9.3 bwar in two seasons, and at left field of all positions. He is also an on base god.
I love how when Jake said "Mark canha?" with such a question inflection I was like that should be a tier in itself
Luke raley below kelenic is the most insane jake take I’ve ever heard
Glad to see my boy Brandon Marsh getting some well deserved love, he's been quietly raking since he got to Philly.
I would just like to point out that Yelich led this group in fWAR last season, has an MVP in the bag, and his statcast page is very pretty. Definitely deserves a top spot more than Reynolds.
Yelich being lower than that group is WILD
Jolly completely abandoning his Kwan take when that freak Nimmo is mentioned is on par
As a Rays fan I appreciate that Jolly went to bat for Luke, he was a platoon guy for us but he was so effective at his role, love that guy
**COUGH** Matt Wallner has the second strongest arm after Nolan Jones according to StatCast **COUGH**
Do not run on Wallner. You will not win.
Tough for me to agree with many of jolly’s takes. I thought he was always over glorifying players who arent deserving and underselling players who are
Are you kidding? It's clear he is the only one out of the three that knows ball. Jake keeping Steven Kwan at the fourth tier is ridiculous, he at least belongs in the third tier. A 9.3 war in two seasons at the left field position is insane.

Brutal task, beautiful results.

You could have had a “I’m Alex Gordon” tier for the defensive ones
Jolly has almost become more biased towards the Mets than Giraffe Neck Marc. And that’s saying something
Bullshit, I hate the Mets and I didn't sense that at all.
R u mostly referring to his feelings on Kelnic?
Cuz I'm not a Mets, Ms or Bravos fan, and I agree with Jolly in the sense that I feel like his hype his better than his proven sustained talent
Nothing he said about any Met or former Met was off base

Happ getting a 2 tier bump for being a friend of the show...

Kelenic had a good 2 months and has been complete dogshit the rest of his career
“A couple years ago” 💀💀💀💀💀
Are we really ignoring the fact that austin Hays plays a bigger LF than Most Center fields?
36 minutes in and I believe we are en route to the worst tier list yet unfortunately :(
Nootbaar is the 4th best OF option on the Cardinals team, but he's a media darling with high OBP. He's basically Bader 2.0
Nootbaar just put up a 3.2 fWAR last season, 2nd best on the Cardinals and more than Edman, Carlson, and Walker combined
@@deveanatkinson7426 OBP weighs heavily in fWAR, and you named 2 guys who were injured last season along with a rookie

@joshuameyer1382 @deveanatkinson7426 all versions of WAR heavily weighs OBP. It's literally the rate at which you do not make an out at the plate
Luke raley should be higher
I think Marsh is better than Kwan, both are elite defenders but Marsh's offensive potential is higher. (As he showed last year)

Evan Carter is still a prospect and universally top 10 among MLB Pipeline, ESPN, Baseball America, and The Athletic
Let’s just make a “Spencer Steer” tier
The Yankees had 4 guys with a 100+ OPS last year, only 8 guys with an 87+ OPS and 150+ ABs.
Andrew Benitendi may not be smacking a .300 BA last year, but he was effective enough to have a positive WAR despite his dismal OPS+ and wouldve slotted as the yankees 7th best everyday player by WAR last year.

Steer and Gurriel need to be in wait is LF deep?
imo if noot has a full healthy season, I believe he will break out and could be top 5
Wow LF is seriously deep
Nootbaar is our right fielder guys, Brendan Donovan pencilled into left... Not that it matters, he's also wait is left field deep 😅
I’d love to see what you guys could do with a baseball movies tier list.
How were yelich and Raley as low as they are.
Matt Wallner is a beast
How is Christian Yelich below Ian Happ? I am a cubs fan and that is insane. Guy won an MVP. Better hitter and also comparable fielder to Happ.

This list is way out of left field, fellas.
I hope that you guys are aware that riley green is a starting left fielder in major league baseball. 29 guys listed here, no one from the tigers?
Green is listed in right. Mark Canha is the Tigers starting LF
For anyone searching, Happer joins on the phone at 1:03:20
Why is Corbin Carroll not on this list? He's played LF the most in the outfield, and he's projected to play there again this year.
Guriel jr is projected to be the starting LF for Arizona
is corbin carrol not left field anymore
Gurriel took over there
How is jones not on the same tier as Carter?
I'd argue Evan Carter needs to be in the best ever, AT LEAST FOR NOW, because he's on Randy's exact trajectory for now.
Nimmo that high feels kinda silly, & the top row empty 😭
Verdugo was positive OAA…
No you guys do not know what Kelenic is, he's a AAAA guy and will be who he is in Atlanta (mostly AAA actually).
wrong
Being so ripped is TONs problem. He has flexability issues that cause him to be SUPER injury prone.
clickbaiting ian happ in the title when he appears at the end of the video for 2 minutes is insane
Disrespect to yelich he is on the level of guys like Nimmo and Reynolds especially given his top end production.
Taking Hays over Nootbaar is blasphemy
Gallo was debatably never an all-star caliber player
He was 2017-2019 with the Rangers. Gold glove, .900 OPS
Olive aint giving Kelenic any laurels 😂

If u ignore the format and just go along for the scenic drive, I found it enjoyable, but that's to taste
I think you guys miss the point of tier lists when you put no one at the top tier lol
It was definitely a joke/commentary about how high they regard Evan Carter’s potential
How you gonna forget Yordan Alvarez? Oohhh boyyyy
