Friday nights when I was in grade 1 (Autumn 1970) on ABC. Brady Bunch, Nanny and the Professor, Partridge Family, Room 222, That Girl and at 10pm Love American Style.
+Cynthia Brown It was good tv, and most homes still had only one tv set so everyone watched together. Also you only had ABC, NBC, CSS and some local stations running old movies.
In 1969, I was 8 and KNEW that I wanted to teach. My friends and I mimicked Karen Valentine's hair and clothing. In 2000, after being an acute care nurse, I joined the nursing faculty where I had graduated and taught for 18 years. Now, I'm back in the frontlines in the hospital during a pandemic. This time, I teach patients how to take care of their broken hearts (and other body parts). Watching Room 222 tonight reminded me of our days of innocence in the U.S. American life is so ugly now. To the soul who posted the video, thank you for this little gift.
I must say, it is a great thing to see people working together to make the world a better place regardless of their social backgrounds and differences. What a great show this was and one of my favorite at the time. As the saying goes "they just don't make them like this anymore" .
One of the best series from the late 60's to early 70's! Used to watch this religiously back in the day when ABC had their Friday night lineup of The Brady Bunch, Nanny & The Professor, The Partridge Family, Room 222, and Love American Style! Oh the memories!!!

This was an amazing program and everyone loved it. After 40+ years, the writing is really quite good and it handled complex story lines. 1969 mind you... the dark ages... yet here were such charming characters played by talented actors. Karen Valentine had a big popularity and the guy that played Pete Dixon... what ever came of him?
Lloyd Haynes basically smoked himself to death. He died of lung cancer in 1987 at age 52, the result of years of heavy cigarette smoking. Great actor; such a shame.
Even with all the social unrest at the time...there still was a feeling of hope...that maybe we could work it out...as soon as i heard the flute...i almost cried (ok i cried!)...such a cool show...and everyone looks neat and clean...no students with sagging pants!
I remember being too young to watch this show but heard the theme song in my bed from the downstairs tv as my parents watched and it sounded so hopeful.
Lloyd Haynes did a USO show on my aircraft carrier along with Forrest Tucker (F Troop) back in the 1970s. So sad he died so young. Thankfully the other main actors are all still alive.
Life was just better then. Something about it that younger people of today will never understand. It's just a time that we will sadly never have again.

Wow! I always thought Richie looked older and smarter, but he looks really young and normal. Of course, the last time I saw this episode it was a brand new show and I was twelve. Thanks for posting it.
The Richie Lane character was taken off the show after two seasons because the Producers felt he had lost his "Overall Cuteness". He was replaced by Eric Laneueville who was naturally short and a good actor, but it was still one of the moca that led to the show's cancellation in 1974!
This was clearly a funny show at times, other times serious, but most of all, a good and well written and well acted show. Lloyd Haynes; Michael Constantine; Denise Nicholas and Karen Valentine EXCELLED in this show.

Brings back a lot of memories when our culture was about getting along with each other, loving you fellow human being. Today it's all about shoot'em up video games, everyone hating everyone else and accusing each other of racism. I really do hope mankind goes back from our current Neanderthal mentality...

I'll have you know that they are in a 1963 Valiant Signet convertible!! Started my love of MOPAR cars with this show and 'Beverly Hillbillies' in the later seasons.

I've heard that there was an episode about a student that is continuing/completing his high school education after serving in Vietnam. I don't remember seeing it.
