"Room 222" should definitely be on MeTV! I don't care if it is dated. Realistic dialogue and moments between the actors (as teachers and students), especially in this episode, are the reasons why it's still a great show to watch.
@@mikevivian3648 He surely was and I've got a good reason why I think so, myself. In the episode "Discipline is a Four-Letter Word Spelled Love" on "Courtship", Bill Bixby's usually mild-mannered Tom Corbett catches Eddie dangling on the balcony at their high-rise and angrily spanking him afterwards, just to show his son how much he loves and cares for him and his safety. As a young child watching the show in the '70s, it scared me because I didn't understand at first why Tom did what he did. Or felt as strongly as he did. However, that scene alone best exemplifies Mr. Bixby's acting skills and emotional spectrum with his characters.
Room 222 is truly a period piece of the fine art of acting: Words unfortunately cannot convey the subtle positive atmospheric qualities found within the entirety of the shows totality of episodes.
Parents should always remember sometimes we forget but remind our kids how proud we are of them no matter what situation it is. Tell each kid u love him or her. For us we need the same. We all need to be loved or feel love. Love what makes a family.
One of my all time favorite TV shows. The theme song and the opening scenes watching the students on the way to school brings back memories. Reminds me of my high school days
I loved when some of these Friday Night favorites went into syndication. You could watch the older episodes after school and see the brand new ones on FRIDAY NIGHT! Please take me back...
As a Ugandan borne and raised it was interesting to see that more than half the class didn't even know where we are located. At times u need a reminder that the world is bigger than you. Also the language is called Luganda not Lugandese

Somebody who knows what goes on in school staffs when students aren't around was part of the writing team for this series. The dialogue is remarkably realistic. (With a certain allowance for Hollywood convention, of course.)
At first I thought the school receptionist was Patty Duke but is Jan Shutan who was 14 years older than Duke. Shutan was in the original Star Trek and died last fall (2021).
This is acctually season 1 episode 5 "The flu" that aired on October 15 1969. "Teachers dropping out" was season 1 episode 7 which aired on October 29 1969.
The use of the laugh track in this classic show is strange. It appears sometimes when you expect it, but other times is absent even when a joke is obvious.
So amazing to remember that high school students were living under the shadow of Vietnam and the draft. Eighteen year olds didn't have the vote yet. They were dealing with Nixon as president. Wow. Impossible not to take social studies and history and civics seriously in that environment. 🗽🌎🗽
Thanks for uploading; this was (is) one of my favorite shows, not to mention the theme song! P.S. I think this episode is mislabeled; it should be "1x05 - The Flu".
Michael Constantine (the principal) passed away on August 31, 2021. He was age 94. Fortunately, Denise Nicholas and Karen Valentine are still living, age 77 and age 74 respectively. Lloyd Haynes (the history teacher star of the show) died of lung cancer on January 1, 1987. He was just 52 years old. Strange how Mr. Haynes lived only to 52, whereas Mr. Constantine lived until he was 94. That's a 42-year date-of-death differential.
Room 222 should definitely be on FETV it's a classic television series from the 70's,with its serious message and sending a lot of classmates to do things,is amazing.very poignant tv teen drama of the 70's.i like to see this one The Courtship Of Eddie's Father, it would be great.
I was looking up all the intros of my favorite shows of the 70s. This is pretty much #1. I also happened to love the show, and I still do! Like so many others, I had a boy's crush on Miss. Valentine. Very much so! Funny thing, I never took special note of black, white, Asian, etc., and I still do today. It's difficult to be categorized as a straight, white, racist because of my political leanings.
I didn't appreciate the series when it first aired. I was too young and couldn't understand why my sister wanted to watch a TV show about school. Evenings and weekends were my break from school. But when I grew up, I could see what a great show it was.
Guest appearance by John Rubinstein, as Mr Kauffman’s son. I knew the face was familiar - but the credits provided me with the answer. John Rubinstein, I believe, was the son of Arthur Rubinstein, the famous pianist (I don’t know if he was any good or not, I haven’t heard his stuff - ha!)
Uh, this was a city-wide 6 day flu -- not a world-wide pandemic with a new, highly contagious strain that killed over a million Americans. Slight difference.
No Deborah, it's Los Angeles High School, before the Northridge/Sylmar quake in '71 and the subsequent fire burned part of the campus. The fire, and the water damage from the fire hoses caused it to be bulldozed and rebuilt. I saw a picture of the very top of the tower seen in the opening and exterior shots was saved and incorporated into the rebuilt facia. My older brother went there in '69-'70

@@TheAverycross yep! They both would be great on me tv! I loved that show as well! Bill Bixby was awesome!
You would think that MeTV or Antenna TV would air this show. Both networks carry so many old comedies and westerns and they should include Room 222.

I agree! And also when situation comedy was challenging and thought-provoking:)

This show was the forerunner of Welcome Back Kotter, Degrassi Junior high, Degrassi high, Saved by the bell, and the now, Abbott Elementary.
And there’s your Emmy winner!
Why are manners an option , today?
They generally are no longer taught from an early age. Of course there are always exceptions.
