A true benchmark of model making. Consider when and how it was built it is (was) truly outstanding. A real shame the layout has gone but its always nice to watch videos like this and look back at it.
So weird, I found a box today of coaches I brought from the estate after Dave passed, then find this in my recommended vids here on RUclips A truly lovely model layout, I never got to meet the man, but can/did/do appreciate the works gone into it Did the house mentioned ever get built with MK3 of TM?
i congratulate Dave on a beautiful model railway and wish him well on his new venture(s). i still have a copy of the earlier video from 'another' magazine and both that and this are very enjoyable. I hail from the 'dark satanic mills' (steel not textiles) of Rotherham, and the scenery still strikes a chord after many years as a 'Southerner'.
I have he DVD, what a fantastic layout, it just oozes the industrial North of Yorkshire and Lands, such as exotic places as Dewsbury. Where was Fred Dibnahs chimney and his Landover??? Only one thing I could possibly want to add, a Trolleybus or 6
Tetley’s Mills has been one of the best layouts that did the rounds of the model railway exhibitions!! Although it will be a great loss, a new version of Tetley’s Mill might be even better.
12:00 I always wondered how you guys uncouple over there...I'm in Los Angeles..First time I've seen an uncoupling of Brit OO or any Brit but the 1:1 scale in videos uncoupling... Obviously the tool you have there is home made...So I guess either there are no commercial ones, or there are but don't work as well as this one...
Great layout but since they were being so insistent on the pronunciation of the word, "synonymous", it's a pity the owner of this layout missed an apostrophe in "Tetley's Mills"!
A year or two after this video came out (2011) The builder Dave Shakespeare sadly passed away after a brave battle with cancer. I think he would have built a fantastic new layout.
@@mus256f oh Im sorry to hear - I love these layouts - esp his v old looking/weathered! I would buy one if I had lots of money - you can't put price on them easily tho!
A true benchmark of model making.
Two great Modellers in one Video, Dave and Tetleys Mills is still missed, thank you Tony for a great production.
lovely work RIP Mr Shakespear

I find these videos deeply relaxing
Legendary layout. Worthy of revisiting. Alas, with his passing, it is but a memory. But what a great memory it is 🍻👍
Rest in peace, Dave Shakespeare.
RIP Dave Shakespeare, I meet him once at an exhibition.
These videos are great, please keep them coming!!

I was able to buy one of the DMUs from the estate and it is a prized possession. Very pleased to find this video.

I remember seeing this years ago in one of the rail modelling mags, fantastic to see this
Tetley Mills is a fantastic and realistic layout.

Unfortunately the builder passed away a few years ago after a brave battle with cancer.

Seems to only be available in 360p or less. No 720p? I'm sure we are missing some fabulous detail at 360.
I always thought the glue used in ply wood kills woodworm. Fantastic layout drooled over pictures in magazines
Glück Auf,
Toll ein Daumen hoch!👍
Beautiful.
Saw parts of tetley Mills being sold at an exhibition, Tony Wright was selling it off for the family. Sooo sad. Dave taken too soon.
Fantastic layout - difficult to see details as the video is only in 360(?), which is a real shame.
It's a pity the quality of this video is only 360p.
Hi, what piece of music is that at the start of the video? Thank you
Now, perhaps, he’ll go for DCC Sound!!
Great layout but since they were being so insistent on the pronunciation of the word, "synonymous", it's a pity the owner of this layout missed an apostrophe in "Tetley's Mills"!
very nice layout you got .Thumbs up for you .Hope you like mine diesel dave's
How about blackening the interiors of the coal wagons? It would certainly be prototypical of this sort of traffic!!
I wouldn't have been so pedantic about the pronunciation of synonymous myself, to be honest.
hmm - why destroy it - why not sell it? :)
