varnish your painting, is it necessary to apply the sealer? Or you can apply the final varnish over The acrylicpainting immediately after application of the gold. Thanks love the video.
Thank you 😊 This saves me a great deal in choosing art work where I wanna hide something. But please could share all the products you bought from Amazon so that I can also get them correctly?
That was a very informative video! Thank you so much! I did have one question, can we have gold leaf textured if we wanted it to? Like if we dropped it on to our paintings for an effect? Would it affect our sealing process?
Nice. Is there such a thing as a spray size for the gold leaf application? When using something like a stencil with specific cut out shapes the size when painted onto the stencil (no matter how carefully) just bleeds underneath so I can't get the precise shape (non-geometric)... Any ideas how to do this or is there a spray size available?
Could you do gold leaf on flower. I also want to know how to add gold on a flower on a paint that graphic adobe illustrator made or digital. Your video was helpful. I liked it.
What sealer did you use? I'm having trouble finding videos talking about choices of gold leaf sealers, liquid brushed vs spray sealers and best brands.
if you still want to varnish your painting, is it necessary to apply the sealer? Or van you apply the final varnish over the acrylicpainting immediately after application of the gold... sorry for my bad english 😂😂 love your video. Thanks
Thank u Ashley. Appreciate ur vids. When i use gold leaf it always stick to my resin and paint work without using the glue, i dont kno if am using the right gold leafs. I actually want to use the glue coz i only want the flakes sticking wher i want them to, not everywher. If i try putting the sheet on the place and then try to brush the excess off it wont happen the whole sheet will actually stick. Hope i make sense.. please please reply i am really stuck
Thats strange! Make sure you are applying the glue only where you need it and also make sure your painting is fully dry before starting the gold leaf application process!
Brilliant video many thanks for sharing this, quick question can you paint on the gold leaf before you seal it? Or do you seal it 1st then paint on it and then seal it? Please advise ⭐️✨️😊
Thanks for sharing. Question - I plan to apply gold leaf and then put resin on top. Do I still need to seal it or can I skip the sealer part? Please suggest.
How long do I leave the gold leaf on the canvas before I brush it off? And can I use earners glue instead of the one you used? Please answer ASAP thank you so much!!
I just started using gold foil on a painting that I'm currently doing. So when use the sealer to seal to the silver/gold foil, how do you seal the painting itself? Can still go over the entire painting, including the foil, with varnish? Or would that ruin the foil and essentially the whole painting?
So here cause I have a problem with the gold leaf sticking to my acrylic paint so if I laid it down like you showed here... Id have a nearly silver/gold canvas and my painting would be ruined... Any tips?
Make sure your painting is 100% dry before starting the gold leaf process 🙂🙂 Usually acrylic dries pretty quickly but if you are worried then leave it for a few hours or even overnight!
That happened to me, I figured the oil painted area was still a little fresh, the paint has to be completely dry. Your hands also have to be very dry, I apply baby powder to my hands to absorve any humidity in your fingers. Also try to apply a very thin layer of glue. Hope it helps. 😉
Help me how do I keep the gold flakes when I apply the gold leaf from my hand There's so many gold leaf in my hands it's annoying help I don't want to have gold flakes when I touch it want to happen is when I touch the product with the gold leaf it does not leave a golf flake in my hands What Sealer do u use
Gold leaf is super delicate so its hard not to have it get everywhere. Just make sure you are in a room with no wind movement and you can also try applying it with a brush!
The brushes are very old, Im not sure where they came from. But I would use any brush from the art supply store and a specifically coarser brush to remove the gold leaf excess.
This is how I prefer to apply it. You can surely use the scraps to fill the gaps but it would take much longer and I do save the scraps for different projects so nothing is really wasted.
varnish your painting, is it necessary to apply the sealer? Or you can apply the final varnish over The acrylicpainting immediately after application of the gold. Thanks love the video.
Butter does fall off the edges of corn on the cob or waffles when melted just right!🙂
i am a first time at using GOLD LEAF and you made it look so easy to apply .thank you for the video and hope to see more from you ..
Great job! I appreciate the lesson and plan on trying this week
Thank you for this video! To the point and easy to follow. Can’t wait to use this on my current project!
if you have paint down already you can apply it with just water, you don’t need glue necessarily i don’t think.
Thank you for your tutorial, very helpful and the sound of your voice is so cute. Thank you for the materials recommendations.
Do you know if I can use mod pogue as a glue? Thanks so much!
thats my favorite youtube tutorial! THANK U FOR EXPLAINING SO WELL💌🪽
Great tips. They are so specific and simple! Thank you. The best video I’ve seen on this!!!
Great video but the amount of silver leaf wasted stressed me OUT 🤣
Nothing is ever wasted! I collect the remaining bits to use on another project 😊😊
@@ashlysartistry Oh! Thank goodness, my heart can rest! 😂☺
Beautiful art! Can I use any type glue?
Or a large sheet or towel on your floor to catch way what falls and you can save all as flakes to use for something else
Thank you for this video! Step by step and great tips!! ❤
Thank you 😊
This saves me a great deal in choosing art work where I wanna hide something. But please could share all the products you bought from Amazon so that I can also get them correctly?

That was a very informative video! Thank you so much! I did have one question, can we have gold leaf textured if we wanted it to? Like if we dropped it on to our paintings for an effect? Would it affect our sealing process?
You are awesome! 😍 I really really wanted to do your art now ! Such an informative video ! Thanks a lot !!! 😍
Well done. Quite informative. Am not scared to try it now.👍
Thanks for the tutorial. How did you set up the light bue base?
Nice.

How did you get the original blue paint on the canvas
It looks so beautiful
Could you do gold leaf on flower. I also want to know how to add gold on a flower on a paint that graphic adobe illustrator made or digital. Your video was helpful. I liked it.
Can you do a video using different colored leaf eg. blue, purple, green, pink, ect.?
What sealer did you use? I'm having trouble finding videos talking about choices of gold leaf sealers, liquid brushed vs spray sealers and best brands.
She shows you the adhesive and the sealer at the beginning of the video. I think they are both made by the same brand
if you still want to varnish your painting, is it necessary to apply the sealer? Or van you apply the final varnish over the acrylicpainting immediately after application of the gold... sorry for my bad english 😂😂 love your video. Thanks
You can skip sealer if you like!
Unbonb? been in unbuo

Unl nyj. hmu. He;
Smooth like Butter... you fortune teller
Great tutorial, how do you get rid of the lines of the squares from the joints of the foil? I am looking to create a seamless connection.
This is a good question, i would experiment and see what works best. Maybe try overlapping a bit?
I do little at a time and l place my canvas on the table so l can save my leaf for further projects. Waste not.
So after you seal the gold leaf and it fully dries/cures, can you varnish the entire canvas like you typically would?
wow....is this adhesive applied after the paint dried ?
How do you varnish over the leaf? Do I varnish the paint and the leaf?
Thank u Ashley. Appreciate ur vids. When i use gold leaf it always stick to my resin and paint work without using the glue, i dont kno if am using the right gold leafs. Thats strange! Make sure you are applying the glue only where you need it and also make sure your painting is fully dry before starting the gold leaf application process!
It sounds like your painting isn’t dry enough before applying the gold leaf.
Same problem with me!! The leaf get stick to the areas even where l don't apply glue! And on totally dried painting
Brilliant video many thanks for sharing this, quick question can you paint on the gold leaf before you seal it? Or do you seal it 1st then paint on it and then seal it? Please advise ⭐️✨️😊
You can paint on the gold leaf before or after you seal it.
Thanks for sharing. Question - I plan to apply gold leaf and then put resin on top. Do I still need to seal it or can I skip the sealer part? Please suggest.
You can probably skip the sealer ☺️
@@ashlysartistry Thank you
Thanks so much. Great video - took the scary out of the process.
Love it
This will be my next project
How long do I leave the gold leaf on the canvas before I brush it off? And can I use earners glue instead of the one you used? Please answer ASAP thank you so much!!
You can brush it off immediately. If earners glue is made for gold leaf then yes, otherwise no.
Would love to see your list of supplies. Thanks!
Hey, thanks for the tutorial. After you are done can the canvas be rolled up for storage? It will the brake the for and the sealer?
It should be okay if it’s sealed.
Thank you for the great video and tips.
Thank you for the tips really helpful ❤️❤️
Can we use glue such a fevicol or something?
Very pretty. What brand do you use?
All the pieces that fall off at the end can you collect them and use again as flakes?
Absolutely!
Beautiful video👍. Can you please recommend a sealant for foil??
1:00
is the sealant (I know the packaging looks like the glue, but same brand)
0:42
is the glue
hope this helps!
Love this vid! Can I draw after I apply the gold leaf? Like above it?
Yes!
Beautiful beautiful thanks for sharing
Can you paint over some of the silver leaf before sealing. Thank you for the detailed information.
Yes! You certainly can 🙂 add as many layers as you like!
Thanks for the video. Are using acrylic paint for this canvas?
Yes I am!
Can even apply normal glue?
How much time it takes to stick
Can you press the leaf directly into the slightly wet paint or you have to wait until it's completely dry then add the adhesive?
You will have to wait until your paint is dry and then add adhesive.
I just started using gold foil on a painting that I'm currently doing. So when use the sealer to seal to the silver/gold foil, how do you seal the painting itself? Can still go over the entire painting, including the foil, with varnish? Or would that ruin the foil and essentially the whole painting?
You can use any painting varnish you like it wont tarnish your gold foil!
@@ashlysartistry ok thanks
Is it possible to use a spray?
So here cause I have a problem with the gold leaf sticking to my acrylic paint so if I laid it down like you showed here... Id have a nearly silver/gold canvas and my painting would be ruined... Any tips?
Make sure your painting is 100% dry before starting the gold leaf process 🙂🙂 Usually acrylic dries pretty quickly but if you are worried then leave it for a few hours or even overnight!
So cool i so want to try this now.
you can use all the scrap as metal dust, everyone else says to use soft brush, is stiff brush because it is canvas?
I like a stiff brush because it gets in the crevices of the canvas. But use whatever works best for you.
how long do you lead foil lead on before removing it and how long before you use sealer, no one offers these questions thanks
I left the foil on for about 15 minutes until the glue dried and you can apply sealer immediately after.
Wonderful video but my gold leaf foil stuck to alot of other areas on the canvas where I didn't apply any glue

Also try to apply a very thin layer of glue. Hope it helps. 😉
Cheers for the tutorial, defo helped!
Do you have to prime the canvas first? Love your video!
You can if you want to, but I didnt 🙂
This was a really informative video!
Can I varnish the entire painting after sealing the gold leaf? Or should I not use varnish on gold leaf?
You can if you like 👍🏾🙂
Love the tutorial!
Have u used brush for applying glue there?
Yes! Any brush will do fine.
This was very helpful thank you!
Van you seal with varnish also ? The one you use on paintings ? Thanks
Yes you can.
Do a vase such a messy project but love it
Can you still use the excess that has fallen off the canvas? Just out of curiousity
Absolutely!
Great job! Thank you! 🙏🏼

What Sealer do u use
Gold leaf is super delicate so its hard not to have it get everywhere. Just make sure you are in a room with no wind movement and you can also try applying it with a brush!
What would happen if we didn’t seal it? I’m wanting to foil on a plaster on canvas surface.
You should be fine! Sealing isn’t necessary but definitely adds extra protection.
What size canvas did you use for this?
Can you please give me the name brand of the brushes or a link to them?
The brushes are very old, Im not sure where they came from. But I would use any brush from the art supply store and a specifically coarser brush to remove the gold leaf excess.
Beautiful!
Can you get the sealer at a local craft store?
Yes!
Can you paint over mistakes?
Absolutely you can!
Can you use paint to attach the color leaf?
I wouldn’t recommend it.
Bob Ross!!!😄 Thank you!
So obviously you would do this after you varnish right ?
No I would do this before varnishing as the varnish will help seal it in even better 🙂
@@ashlysartistry o ok thanks
Nice job!
What sealer did you use
Very nice and explained clearly
Çan i seal imitation silver leaf with resin ?
How do you seal the colored or painted areas?
I dont, it’s not needed.
How to remove unstuck gold leaf
Where did you purchase the materials ?
Amazon & Michaels.
Thank you so much for this video. I really learned a lot from this video, I have never worked with gold leaf before.
Glad I could help! 😊
Could this be done on shoes?
Probably 😋 but unless you’ve got a really good sealant I don’t think the results would last long.
Can someone please tell me where can I buy it.😢😢 Please 🙏🥺🥺🥺
Thank you so much for this video!
Thanks for sharing 😊
Why waste so much of the leafing? Did you need to use so many sheets?
This is how I prefer to apply it. You can surely use the scraps to fill the gaps but it would take much longer and I do save the scraps for different projects so nothing is really wasted.
Great! Thank you.
