- Massachusetts Maritime Academy Regimental Band and Honor Guard at the 2010 National Memorial Day Parade in Washington DC. Recorded on May 31, 2010 using a Flip Video camcorder.
The First Navy Flag is carried in this Memorial Day Parade 2010 with the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The Washington Cruisers Flag, or Liberty Tree Flag, as it is also known was flown by the first seven ships of the Continental Navy commissioned by Commander in Chief George Washington, and set sail from ports in Massachusetts with Orders to capture British supply ships, but to run from British war ships. One ship captured had 30,000 pair of shoes, but the shoes did not get to Washington.
We were there too! So proud, they all did a fabulous job. I was an extremely hot and muggy day, but the MMA cadets didn't let the weather get to them. But it was the National Memorial Day Parade not Vetran's Day - I'm pretty sure that's still in November. :)
