Slide cutting shears are also great for point cutting, as well "talking" them across the top length for added texture. The reason for the flip shears is because the direction the teeth of the thinning/texture shear is facing is the direction of influence you give to the hair. For example, using your thinning shear in the usual way influences the hair to push up. Flip the shear, and the teeth are now on top. This influences the hair down. I flip my regular thinning shears when I need to blend or take weight from a cowlick but don't want it to stand up from doing so. Easy way to remember is teeth up, hair up. Teeth down, hair down. Give it a try. It's an awesome technique.

I just bought the 6.5 shears & the Koa flip shears.
These things are sharp & cut the straightest crispiest line!
So sharp in fact, I took a chunk out of my knuckle 😂
That’s my fault of course …I still love them.
I work with my mom & she bought them as well!

I love ❤️ your channel. I got the makai 5.5. The tang(pinky grip) is so horrible I simply can’t use these shears. I love the concept $100 plus $50 for new pair. Is there anyway they can make their makai models with the same tang as their other models. The tiny flat tang on their shear models is so dangerous there’s no ergonomics or power. Coming from a mizutani DB 20 5.5 for $1,300 it’s not even in the same league. The only good feeling tang and scissor from them is the Matsu 6.75 inch. They need this tang on all their other models. The problem with the Matsu is is way too large to be your all around shear. I wish I could ask them directly to change their tang designs because the company is great and their price is a home run but those tiny flat tangs on all their models is insanely bad and dangerous
