- Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball is a 1994 video game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It was programmed by Software Creations, and was published by Nintendo.
This is the first game of a World Series matchup between the Seattle Mariners of the American League (played by myself) and the Chicago Cubs of the National League.
Dude, it's crazy how something that means absolutely nothing to 99.9% of the population can mean so much to a person. The memories that I have from 5th grade to a couple years out of high school, playing literally hundreds and hundreds of hours of sports games on Nintendo, and Genesis, and Saturn, and Playstation; literally some of the absolute best memories of my LIFE, not just my childhood. How cool would it be to have known how much those times would mean to you later, and just sat up your mom's VHS camcorder in the room you were playing, and recorded a few of those days and nights??
Man, I started my sports gaming on Intellivision and never looked back. Only problem was those games were all two player. But I still played a lot of games.
Should get the games on emulators. I used to have practically every single game ever made (plus some arcade games) up until PS1 on a desktop computer.
I'm not much of a gamer anymore but it's still nice to be able to turn the computer on and play any game I want to once in a while.
This game dominated my childhood. Awesome!
Agreed
Mine too.
Mine too
Best baseball video game ever. Great soundtrack too. I played this non-stop the summer of '94. Used a complete set of Topps 93/94 cards to program in all the real player names-anyone else do that?
+Christopher Dugan I know exactly what you are talking about. I printed the stats from the internet and plugged it all in then one day the power went off and all the names and stats reset and I had to do it again, I felt like crying haha
+Christopher Dugan No internet in those days! I used the box scores from the newspaper to fill in the names. It took me about a week!
I had World Series baseball on Sega which came out the same year. I actually wrote down all the names and numbers and matched them up on Griffey. It took forever. Then a few years later I put the game in the console a little funny a cut it on and the names were reset!
Christopher Dugan Man nothing like it! Kids nowadays have no idea. I loved this game!!
Yep-made myself the Mick-best defensive arm in the game!
I love how The Doors got back together to do the soundtrack for this game.
🤪🤣🤪
Blood on the streets in the town of Seaaaattleeee
Peace Frog all the way!
😂🤣😂🤣
Busted!
the music, graphics, and gameplay in
this game was so ahead of its time.I'm about to pop this in now!
I’m 31 years young now lol but I remember being a little kid watching my uncle play this. I’d get a chance to play after he got done showing off how good he was. The 90’s what great times.
I remember playing 3-4 games a day the first couple of weeks after I received this for XMAS. I did a full 162 game season as the Chicago Cubs one time and went, like, 110-52. I then lost the World Series to the Tigers...LOL!!
A great game and a lot of nice memories.
Dude, it's crazy how something so small and completely insignificant to 99% of the population can mean so much to a person. The memories that I have from 5th grade to a couple years out of high school, playing literally hundreds and hundreds of hours of sports games on Nintendo, and Genesis, and Saturn, and Playstation; literally some of the absolute best memories of my LIFE, not just my childhood. Loved this game, played it non-stop. None of the players in this game ever skipped a chest day! lol
"OH COME ON!"
The soundtrack really made the game much more pleasant to play. The accelerated gameplay as well, made it even better. I must have done a season with every team.
BEST BASEBALL GAME EVER MADE! SIMPLE, FUN , AND JUST PERFECT.
My brother and I spent countless hours playing this and NHL 94. This makes me miss him...
This was the first and only mlb game where I played an entire season. Even manually entered the players real names for each team
That whistling baseball sound is still hilarious.
Before my grandfather died, he would always play this game on his Nintendo. I remember he wouldn't let me play it but the memories of watching made it all worth it. He was a sheriff and died of a heart attack on the job. Great man and a great video game.
You have no idea... how much Nostalgia. I think I have the snapping sound of a batter striking out and angrily breaking a bat ingrained in my head.
I played two entire in-game seasons of this game. 324 games!! If I remember right it was the first baseball game to track all individual stats throughout the season, and I loved that!!
I actually spent the time editing every player in the game , putting in the real names of each one...Love this game so much!!!
Why didnt i know to do this?!
@@bles05 Yeah...They gave you an edit option, and I used some baseball books to match the stats to the players...It took awhile...lol
I loved this game as kid.
This game was a classic! Played this a lot at a friends house in the basement during childhood.
I remember this game like it was yesterday. Played it til my fingers bled. Hitting homers down the line! So great! God this was hours of my life!
Why did they make Griffey’s lips take up half of his face? Lol I never noticed that when I was little. I used to live and breathe this game! I would spend summer nights listening to my team play on the radio while simultaneously playing this game. I even bought the 1993 Baseball Almanac and went through every team and renamed the players to who they actually were based on their stats. I think there was only two players I couldn’t find a match for, one was the lead off hitter for the Rockies and I can’t remember the second. Man great times! Simpler times for sure.
Hands down best baseball game EVER!!
i just came for the soundtrack. I love the bass. one of the best gameplay tracks of all time
Double Plays in this game were so satisfying!
I always loved how you could change the motion of a pitch long after it had left your hand.
Man, this brings back memories. Me and my friends would change the names to the people on our high school baseball team.
Man me and my brother would play this shit all the time as kids when i was around 5-8 so much fun the music and gameplay is really good. RIP to my brother. this is a good memory
My condolences...
AW COME ON!!
Janice Leonard 😂🤣😭🙊
Classic bat breqk
Im actually watching this entire video right now to find the part where he says that...I was telling my buddy about it today and he doesnt believe me
Yessss! I’ve been trying to find that part too!!
I played this game so much one summer that I had recurring dreams that I was inside of the game. Just having his name on it is one of Jr’s greatest accomplishments.
Cring comment😅
The music to this game is so awesome. This brings back memories...
And to think the guy who wrote it was on a strict time limit!
I loved when the ball would get big as hell in the air on home runs and pop ups
Still to this day my favorite baseball game ever. Oh the memories...
Definitely one of my favorite games on SNES. Spent many hours, especially during summer vacation playing this.
"STIRIIIIKE!!"
"He's OUUUUUT!!"
"Ohh, come on!!!"
*broke baseball bat*
Guy sulks his head in shame
I remember when this was released. Staying up for days playing it.
The over the shoulder basket jump; catch....was always my favorite..... @2:39
Ryne Sandberg hitting a 567 ft HR lol
Love the share feature.
To opposite field.
The best hitter in the game D Chapman lol
Light work lol
timestamp?
This Game is the GOAT baseball game. Used to spend hours at my neighbor's house across the street from me, sitting in his spare living room playing this, Sunset Riders and Street Fighter 2 since I didn't have a SNES of my own
Gosh man. The nostalgia is strong right now! This game along with donkey kong and Madden 96 were pretty much all I played growing up lol
Best baseball game. Period.
I loved this game as a kid. I did a full season with the Twins when I was 7 or 8. I always thought of Jabba the Hutt on Seattle.
I remember running the outfielder into the wall..I loved this game..still have it..i might hook the old snes up just to play this for a while. I used to be able to hit like 15 homers in the derby with my eyes closed..literally. lol
Marty Loves Samantha yo hitting homers definitely became elementary at one point
Best baseball game ever. I edited all the teams with the real names & of course the cartridge would erase sometimes. I would do it again and again. Dedication as a kid....
i always hit opposite field on this game too. ive got so close to so many perfect games and no hitters. im 26, still play this game. got it in 94! 19 years of this game!! BEST GAME EVER!
My neighbor had this game and would always kick my ass at it I hated it but when I finally got it years later by myself it was great
Played this on Gameboy. Still the best baseball game ever.
Rememeber when you'd strike a better out he'd be like "oh, c'mon!" Lololol I laughed so hard at that!
Umpire: He's out!
Batter: Oh come on!
Or the guy who just dropped his head!!! Lmao
I still not sure about that.
About what?
drby0788 On their bodies.
I spent 1,000, 000 playing this epic game. i'm currently trying to find it now! Childhood memories! I just can't get into the newer games!
i always loved it when the batter gets struck out and he say's AW, COME ON!!!
YEEES
Or when they break they used to break the bat 😂
Also loved that it came with a Griffey jr baseball card
I haven't played this game in like 27 years and I still remembered the music before I even clicked it.
I loved this game so much as a kid I went on ebay and bought a SNES and this game a few years ago for the fuck of it
God...those long throws from deep short that JUST beat out the runner. Might’ve been the most satisfying thing in snes history
this was and still is my shit.
This is a great game... especially head to head.... VERY VERY fun game... great pitchers hitter duel... fun fielding as well.... I robbed a home run off my buddy in a world series we were playing.... It was SWEET!!
omg, I forgot how BOSS the soundtrack for this game is!
im not a big baseball fan but MVP Baseball 2005 was easily the greatest MLB game of all time. That was a great baseball game.
This is one of the best baseball game ever especially the graphics been approved a lot and the soundtrack music is definitely sounds amazing I'm definitely gonna played this game one day
The music really helped with the flow of the game. My brother and i would pretend to be the band playing the in-game song.
I remember laughing my ass off whenever the umpire said; "He's out."
Ah come on!!
back when baseball games were simple and fun, they put too much extra shit into them these days
They real as fuck now.. but the old games were awesome
how bout it, I stopped playing when dreamcast started making the 2k games. they got too damn complicated for me at that point. Im all for making it more real, but casual gamers dont like all that shit
T-417 I know this comment was a year ago, but they added a retro mode in MLB 17!
They really aren't that complicated today lol.
Modern realistic baseball games lose my interest 1/3 into the game. They just take too long. I love all the quick arcade type baseball games from the 8-bit and 16-bit days.
I used to play home run Derby on this game so much az a kid 😂😂😂
@0:17 - The way that soundtrack smacks you in the mouth after the anthem Blew me away when I first played this.
Shit was FLAMES.
🔥🔥🔥
I loved this game, it was a fast paced game for that time.
Oh to be a kid again. This was the first game I can remember where the outfield wall actually resembled the stadium wall for each team. We didn't need all the fancy graphics though, this just hit different.
The nostalgia hit 🤤
Nostalgia overload. Best game ever
love this game! I did a season in 2002 with the KC Royals and won something like 110 games. Very easy to dominate!
Loved this game. We loaded in all the names and it took us days.
Such good memories with this game man. This and Gradius 3 were my go to games for some reason
I have a season going of this right now. Play on my handheld SNES before bed every night. fuck yeah.
KGJ jacks a dinger. I'm not surprised.
Contractually obligated to hit one every three at bats. :P
This baseball game and triple play baseball took a lot up my time in the early 90s 😁
Probably my fav baseball game of all time. Friend and I got the newspaper and spend like a weekend entering the real names
i love this game! still have it! works great! I also never get tired of the music!!!!
My entire childhood for reals. Just copped another copy offa eBay!
I remember when you played in season mode after the all star break all of your stats would get erased...but I did love the fact that Steve Palermo voiced the ump
As little as I care about baseball this game is super nostalgic.
That music would drive me absolutely crazy!
I had this for Game Boy, and I remember playing an entire season. I won the World Series too. A couple things I remember was that it became very easy once you figured out which pitches the batters would ALWAYS swing at, so you could rack up the strike-outs, and if they managed to hit the ball it was (mostly) an easy out. I also remember that they kept you at around 52-55 home runs. Once you hit that number, the game stopped letting you hit them with that batter.
I hit like .400 with Cecil Fielder on the Tigers in 162 game season and beat the Giants in the World Series. I spent the whole summer playing it.
I'll never forget this music
My next door neighbor had this! I can't believe I forgot about this game! I literally am debating buying a super nes and trying to find this game lol! Man I loved this game!
I used World Series baseball on sega to literally fill in every name one summer. I pitched a perfect game with Steve Avery of the Braves. I expected something special to happen but it was just like any other win. Haha
I remember getting this game for Christmas. There was a different game I wanted and it’s slipping my mind. But i remember getting my present and I could tell by the shape it was a Nintendo game. I yelled “omg you got me (game I forgot)” and opened it up to find Ken Griffey jr baseball. Major disappointment.
My brother and sister and I played that game for thousands of hours. It’s truly an epic game.
Still one of the greatest baseball games ever!!
OMG! This game! That was my childhood baseball game!
Those double plays were so satisfying!
One of my all-time favorite SNES games. And it made up for one of the first games I got, Bases Loaded 3, which had neither an MLB or MLBPA license. Did I ever regret that one, but I guess there wasn't many baseball games yet at the time.
Bases Loaded 2 for the regular Nintendo was fucking badass for real
They had college teams and used in an aluminum bat
the only thing about these games is it took hitting a long fly or homer just to catch a glimpse of the stadium lol
Even so, Wrigley is wrong in this game. It doesn't have the cutout walls in the corners.
haha. Yeah, my friend had this back when I was in jr high. I played 2k baseball on sega and was happy with that...
I just ordered this game and a snes off of amazon a couple days ago, definitely best overall baseball game i've ever played! btw, that first foul ball you hit with griffey in the 4th before his homer would have been huge!!!! 500 feet plus no problem:)
The umpires voice is one reason why this game is so great. this game, original backyard baseball for pc and MLB SlugFest 2003 are the top 3 baseball video games of all time
So the 4th batter on the Mariners batting cleanup after griff -JHutt was named after me! My brother Jeff helped make this game and still is good friends with griff.
Dude, that is really cool. Great story!
my very first game for snes....my childhood....
Till this day I remember this song exactly as it plays and some guy named Ernest Miller.
I love this Game!
Brings back memories
Ha, that first batter is named D. Owsen. Thats Dan Owsen, the opening narrator on Super Metroid, and the voices on Star Fox. As well as being being a representative for Nintendo of America.
G. Sinfield (Gary Sinfield), I seen his name as part of the people thanked in Super Metroid as well.
J.Hutt. Jabba?
Classic BADASS game & music one of my fav games to play as a kid. Likely going to get it as i gave it to my nephew but beeb collecting games & game sets #memories
I had this game when I was little
Now maybe I’m a lil bias cause I’m from south Chicagoland but I always played as the Cubs. 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots were Sandberg, Grace and Sosa basically n that meant a lot to me. I’m 35 and I just shed some tears. Wonderful thing
All time fav baseball game! Keys to winning, throw slow junk to the corners of the plate and load up 3rd, SS, CF & RF with defensive players (DEF ratings of 8, 9 or 10). Best team to do that with is the Cubs.
