The weather is getting better and better! We visited Tar Hollow State Park Campground in Southern Ohio. We really enjoyed this campground. While the campground is small, there are plenty of things to do. There are 2 separate sections of the campground. We were in site 5 and the sites in that section are all paved. The other section had a few paved sites, but most were grass with electric hookups. I use the LevelMatePro to assist in leveling our camper. When I first backed into the site, the app said we were over 1" low on the left side. A nice advantage of the LevelMatePro is I was able to pull forward about 2 feet and that part of the site was exactly level side-to-side, so I did not even need leveling blocks! There are numerous hiking trails in the area. The terrain is fairly hilly and the trails are not the normal walking trails like most state parks have. These trail are a little more strenuous. The campground has a miniature golf course, a large amphitheater, boat rentals, camp store, and has fire wood for sale. The park was still in "off season" mode when we visited, so the camp store was closed. There is a large beach area with a swimming pond as well. We wanted to check out the fire tower, so our friends Mike & Lynn from @Wandering Wagners offered a Jeep ride to check it out. When we reached the fire tower, we were bummed to find out it was closed and we were not able to go to the top. Lucky for us, we didn't have to hike there and back to find out it was closed! There is no Verizon or AT&T cell or data coverage within the park. Lynn has T-Mobile and did have a signal. Verizon signal was strong a few miles from the park.
Getting ready to book here so came back and watched this again!!! Andrea, I think I can at least get to three steps without falling...hahaha!!!! Safe travels!!
Lived in Ohio most of my life there are not many parks I haven't camped at, Tar Hollow was one of the favorites. Love the setting and so quiet and peaceful😊
Site 71 is the best. It’s paved and it’s off to the side kind of on its own. We went there in March a couple years ago. Your kind of surrounded by woods and hill side. Once it gets dark it’s pitch black. The only draw back is there’s a hiking trail behind you so if you have a dog with you it might not like that part to much. Glad you had a good time. Might be going back there soon this year. We just got back from Buck Creek today.
Shhhh. This is supposed to be a secret! It really is by far the best site. The little creek that runs next to it is nice too. The cabins are also an amazing option, and cheap! $60 a night for a cabin with AC? Well worth it.
Tar Hollow is a very interesting place. You really feel you are in the Appalachian hills .The forest roads are beautiful and late spring the Dogwoods are absolutely beautiful. We have camped once there , but many day trips. Thank you for this review , loved it !
Hey, a sandwich is a sandwich but a manwich is a meal! Andrea had Marie laughing when she was on the playground swing bridge. Lol. WW = rain. Nice job.
@@FollowingtheFitchs I have not but it’s only 2 hours from us. Have you been there? Omgosh, it would be so nice to meet up with you two. We are heading to Mosquito Lake the weekend of June 10th but I have been told that is when the meet up is. I wish I would have known about that before I booked. Have you ever camped at Pymatuming Lake Linesvjlle side? How about Shenango Lake in PA? I’m going to check out that park you asked about now. Thanks so much. You two are super!!

Hey guys. Fellow camper, fellow Imagine owner , & fellow RUclipsr here. Just commenting. Been a subscriber for a while now. Thank god the weather is finally getting nicer. Ready to get back out there.
I was waiting for Andrea to do the splits on that swing! Lol. Looks like a fun Jeep ride, with the top & doors off, in March. Haha. Sloppy Joes sound good. Enjoy seeing Cash and Wade. Yea, Dave crossed the swing. Haha.
I was cheering you on with that obstacle course (from my couch lol). You did better than I probably could. I think we’re going to have to check this one out. It’s only about 2 hours from us.
We stayed there a few years ago. Took the drive up to the Fire Tower. Very precarious drive in a pickup! Switchbacks, blind curves, and steep drop offs.
You got to try cowen lake best park in ohio nice clean. And great fishing. Been going since I was a kid now with kids of my own great park to play low in and recharge.
The state park may not be that big but if you add the state forest, it is a good size. Did you spend time traveling the forest roads. Very beautiful. If you walk from the campground to the fire tower, you are in for a long walk. The trails are intense but there is one that is fairly flat. Cannot remember the name but as you come into the park, you go past the maintenance building and it is the first drive to the left that goes down a small hill about 30 feet near the lake. There is a short trail in there about 1-2 miles that is very easy. Tar Hollow may not have the bells and whistles like other parks (Hocking Hills) but it is still beautiful.
Always a great time with the Fitch’s and the Wagner’s. We are excited to get out for our first camping trip of 2021 this weekend at East Harbor SP. Once we get our channel set up and content loaded we will let you know!
Been enjoying the video. We have a mutual friend that told us about your channel. We just got our camper and I hope we can run into you at a campground in Ohio this year!
The only bad thing I have to say about this camp ground is that all of the restrooms except the ones in the shower house are vault latrines. Furthermore, the latrines are usually FULL of bugs, spider webs, etc. A little TLC and regular cleaning of them would go a long way!
I’ve been wanting to try this campground but never have . I’ve been afraid it was hard to get in and out of the sites. Seems like It’s so hard to find camping spots in Ohio now . Or I need to book way early ! Lol
We have camped at Delaware State Park probably close to 10 times now and we have never had to level the camper side to side. The sites are easy to back in to. Keep checking the reservation site for cancellations. We did 30 trips last year and the vast majority of them were booked between Wednesday and the weekend of the trip! Thanks for watching!
Great video guys 👍👍 I enjoyed it ! Those play grounds looks dangerous lol :))) I am currious do think I could tow a trailer like yours with a f150 / eco boost max tow package ?
Thanks for taking the time to watch our video. An F150 would tow it, but payload will be the issue. I would not recommend it with a half ton even though the manufacturer calls it “half ton towable”. I would estimate our tongue weight at 1200-1300 lbs when loaded. On a windy day you will have issues for sure. Look at the payload sticker inside your driver door. That is the max payload for all cargo, including passengers and tongue weight. The towing capacity will be within the numbers. Payload will be the issue.
Going to Tar Hollow for the first time in “October 2023. I came to youtube looking for videos of the park. Is this park Big Rig friendly? We have a 42 ft 5th wheel.
Hi! We stayed in site 5. Our friends in the Super C next to us were in site 6. I wouldn't call this campground big rig friendly, per se, but there are a handful of sites you could fit in. Sites 5, 6, and 7 would be ok. The other section of the campground from where we stayed is not big rig friendly for sure. If you're into hiking it's a great place!
I don’t comment on videos, but since you threatened us, I thought I better say something. Good video. I was a little surprised at how many campers were there. Just seemed like quite a few for March.
We were there during off season so I don’t recall if they have full hook up sites. They do have a potable water fill near site 1. It is on the left side as you are pulling in.
Wade is almost 2 years old and has been camping with us since about 3 days after we got him. He’s always been well socialized but I still have to watch him. Being a herding dog he can have his quirks especially when people approach him quickly. He does great with other dogs and in the trailer he is fine. We use an expen to keep him contained when we are outside and he loves that. I hope this helps.
Have camped here many times. Good camp now with the flush toilets and modern shower block. A lot of the normal YA HOOS on the weekends. Biggest COMPLANT, People not cleaning up after their dogs and letting dogs run loose. Nothing like having to pick up dog crap before you can use your site.
