    Thank you for all of your great videos here we are in September 2023 and we just purchased a 22 RX hybrid F sport luxury I greatly appreciate you explaining Sn flow. We now have an understanding of why we were getting no air in the back I have noticed that this default to always being activated is there a way to make it stay off so that the entire car is getting air-conditioning constantly unfortunately, every time we shut off the key, the S flow is activated when the key is turned back on I have thought about maybe taking it back to the dealer to get them to disable the automatic activation of this featurethank you so much in advance for all of your help with this issue. We are in Southern California. It is very warm here.

      Hi! We understand warm temps here in Texas for sure. I believe there is an option in the settings a Technician has access to that will disable S-Flow. It would be worth asking on your next service visit for sure. Thank you for all of your support!

    So to make it simple; s-flow cuts the airflow from rear passenger vents. If rear door is opened air flow will automatically restore and s-flow is cancelled. Not hard at all.

      You got it! I think of it as "Smart-Flow" for fuel economy. Thanks for tuning in with us!

    You said when the rear doors are opened and there is a rear passengers S Flow turns off, after there passengers vacate the rear of the vehicle, does the S flow turn back on? Or once the vehicle is turned off and they restarted does it automatically turn S flow on?

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  Год назад +1

      Hi! Since there are not weight sensors in the rear seats, the system is really looking for the back doors to be opened before your drive. When the car is turned off, and the driver's door is opened and closed, it will typically reset for the next drive. I don't think it requires a locking cycle, but it is always a best practice to lock the car. You can also disable S-Flow from the menu if you prefer. Thanks so much for checking in.

    I just bought Lexus Rx 350 2023. My back seat no air n even with my daughter seat in back n still now air. Should S flow be off or on? I want air flow in back. I’m so confused. Please help

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  Год назад

      Hi Kim, S-Flow should be Off, then air will flow throughout the entire vehicle. Usually with S-Flow on, it will trigger air to flow to the back if a backdoor is opened. Hopefully changing this setting will help. Also, make sure to dial the air vents for the rear all the way open. Thanks very much for being here!

    I HATE THIS FEATURE VERY USELESS.
    I almost sold my LS500 because i thought there is something wrong, my Lexus service center were desperate to fix it, they didn't know what is S-FLOW. Until i figured it out from Lexus manual. Can it be disabled permanently ?

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  4 года назад

      I hear you. It is a confusing feature for sure. I am not aware of a customization to permanently disable the feature. However things that help are:
      - Drive in Normal Mode or Customize mode (Depending on your equipment) and make sure to Deselect Eco Heat and Cool in the Customize Mode settings
      - From the Main Climate Screen: open the small menu and make sure Eco Heat & Cool is turned Off
      - If you have a soft or hard button for S-Flow: turn it off
      (I have not tried this, but I read that the system knows if you open a rear door for a rear cabin passenger, maybe try leaving a back seat seat belt connected? I don't know that it will help if a rear door isn't opened, but it could be worth a try.) Hopefully you are enjoying the rest of your LS :)

      @@NorthsideLexus Thank you for the quick reply, you gave a very sound and excellent explanation. Better than my local Lexus service center in Dubai (UAE), who don't know even what each button does in the car. shame!
      It's been almost 2 years since i bought my LS500, i am enjoying every minute driving it. Somehow, I noticed this problem recently, where sometimes if someone on the passenger, i get much less airflow as a driver, which makes area hot for me, especially now it's summer which is more noticeable. The bigger problem is, when there is another passenger in the rear seat, the driver A/C shuts down completely.
      I have disabled the Eco Heat and Cool in the climate settings, that did not solve the problem. I have also tried different drive modes still, didn't solve the problem.
      The only thing which solves the problem, is driving the car alone with no occupants but me. Have not thought about the seat belt trick. will try it and update here!

      I'm glad to help. I just thought of one more option. Do you have Climate Concierge on your LS? Looks like a seated person with a small Lexus logo to the left? It is like "auto," but on steroids. If you turn that on, it can detect surface temperature and temperature changes in more zones (like even along the windows where the sun is shining more). Once you turn it on you only have to adjust your temperature setting up or down and it will do everything else. (Raise and lower fan, more fan from certain vents, turn on seat climate, etc.) I'm not sure if my LS Full Tutorial video will help, but here's the link in case: ruclips.net/video/DNT4xqvR9TI/видео.html It is a US model so there may be some differences. Best of luck. It is an amazing vehicle.

      Your Lexus dealership actually does have the ability to fully disable the S-FLOW feature, using Toyota Techstream software. I am a Technology Specialist at my local Lexus dealer and have helped clients with this matter in the past.

      Hi @@josephasencio9272 :) Great to see you here! Thanks for tuning in to help with your Techstream knowledge. Our Technology team doesn't usually get to work with the scan tool. You are so lucky to have that opportunity! Thanks again and I hope you all are doing well at your store! Be safe :)

    yeah but what about s-flow in automatic vs s-flow in manual? how do you switch between the auto and manual mode? the manual didnt do a great job explaining how to switch between the auto/man modes... 2018 rx 450h here (12.3" navi)

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  2 года назад

      Hi Jonathan, Sorry for the delay. S-Flow can be disabled through the Climate menu screen. That will allow air to flow through all vents. You can also usually have your Lexus dealer disable S-Flow through the computer in the vehicle settings that a technician has access to. The Auto mode is for modulating the fan speed based on the ambient temperature, outside temperature and the temperature you select for the system. I hope this helps.

    S Flow - one of the most NON intuitive features in my GS. I still don't get it a month into owning it.

    • @InexplicableBill

      Turn it ON to turn something OFF. What?

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  5 лет назад +1

      We hear ya! Hopefully this will help explain it:
      1. When the light is on the air is "OFF" (or canceled) in the back."
      2. S-Flow is about helping with fuel economy, so it lets the system focus air where the people are.
      3. If there is only a Driver, the air will flow to the driver's seat only. If a front passenger is detected, it will flow to both the driver and front passenger seats. If a back door is opened it should turn off the feature and allow air to flow through the entire cabin.
      4. To turn S-Flow off, and get the air flowing everywhere, push the button and make sure the light is off. When the light is OFF the air in ON. (Like you said, not intuitive.) You do have an awesome car though! The GS is amazing!

      @@NorthsideLexus Ha funny I think "fuel economy" and "GS 350 F-Sport" are mutually exclusive entities... :) And yes, my GS is a pretty awesome car. Not happy with the rattles it's developed in the roof area, but thank God for the CPO warranty!

      @@InexplicableBill too funny! I think it has a lot to do with the CAFE laws and total mileage spread over a line of vehicles. They look for potential fuel savings where ever possible. Definitely not the priority for a GS driver ;-P I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced rattles. That is not a common complaint, that I'm aware of. Very glad that your CPO warranty is taking care of it. Keep that GS ship shape! Have an awesome day!
