My favorite live action movie is still Cinderella 2015. Yes, it’s 80% copy and paste of the animation but those little changes they made like Cate’s Blanchett character having a background on why she was evil was great and so was removing the animals having voices. In this one Cinderella talks to the animals like we do every day without making her fell like she was crazy 🤪 haha That’s the problem I had with The Little Mermaid 🧜♀️, I just couldn’t take the movie serious when all the animals are talking, it just takes you out of the experience 🙃
I hope they do the full story how the apple was the third attempt on her life. In the OG she had also a poisoned comb and an enchanted ribbon that tried to strangle her.
That would be too clever for Disney. They will think of completely new story elements that go absolutely nowhere (BatB, Aladdin) to „elevate“ this and make it longer
I LOVE the original, it's got a charming fantasy quality that's hard to recapture. So being visually faithful is a good sign, i just wish it was a little less CGI. But I'm actually kind of excited.

I think they are trying to put snow white in a storybook illustrated enchanted forest. They want it to look straight out of a storybook once she enters the forest and encounters the dwarfs.. its a different direction and i like it

SW was the first animated film produced using cel animation, which was the predominant technique for doing animation until CGi took over. So, it's colloquially known as the "first animated feature film" even though it has that asterisk.
I think that’s the issue lol. Snow White is one of the least referenced Disney princesses that I can think of off the top of my head. Her Fanbase has got to be niche as hell.
I think the passion comes from the fact that the movie is the epitome of classic Disney. The movie that built the entire company. The movie is indirectly responsible for all merchandise sold, movies made, and theme parks created.
I think I'll get a lot of hate for this but I just don't think a faithful remake of the original is what this movie should be? The original was a creative experiment, its a classic obviously, but the structure is a product of the times and it relied heavily on the novelty of witnessing something so new on the screen. By today's standards it does stuff that movies don't do now. Killing the momentum to sing a song about doing chores or washing your hands before a meal is the exact opposite of what the Disney renaissance established music should do. I think they should have gone the Cinderella route. Faithful to the overall plot and characters but expanded and I would have cut completely or replaced the songs (except Someday My Prince Will Come & maybe Heigh-Ho?) It all worked for the original because of the medium and the context, in 2024 though, as Grace said, its giving fever dream energy.
Not sure what to think about this remake, especially after zegler's controversial comments. I wonder how much it was reshot to look like the more classic original film.

When I first heard about this movie and saw the original dwarf ideas, I thought this was a for sure box office bomb. However after watching the trailer I gotta say it looks like the original Snow White cartoon come to life.
I always dance when I'm doing chores. Part of the fun of doing dishes is putting on music. Also, every Disney Princess has an animal sidekick they talk to. It's cute, it's fantasy, and it's funny. Cinderella is no different with the mice.
They were all bad or atrocious, James was the only genuine one. But then it’s also the writing, directing and overall construction of the movies and characters that destroyed them. If u think about it: Almost NO actor or actress had a lot to do in those remakes. Although they all were tha freakin main characters

The evil queen in the original Snow White was famously inspired for the drawing by Joan Crawford not Greta Garbo. Also Zegler has way too dark skin to play Snow WHITE and isn’t innocent looking at all.

I decided to definitely watch this Disney Snow White reboot all for Gal Gadot. So in love with her as a Wonder Queen in the film. But all I have to say after watching the trailer is that the CGI Dwarves truly look horrible!
