Seiko alignment issues are how you know you've got a real one, it's charming in a way if viewed in a different light, it's not trying to be a Rolex- it's actually even cooler than that. This is a great watch for the pricepoint, one of the best fullstop and even nicer when you pop the cyclops off...
Have mine for just under 1 week. Fantastic watch. Very comfortable and beautiful to look at. Not made in Japan, but everything is very precisely aligned, including the cyclops. Have the watch with the green dial and the silicone strap, very comfortable on the wrist. Greetings from Germany
Even some of the NY0040s have slight misalignment issues. Mine came with the upgraded specs (hacking movement and better lume) and a slightly misaligned chapter-ring. But it's not a deal breaker for me, and it's barely visible. I completely forget it during the day. The misalignment on your King Turtle is definately more upfront due to the thicker, longer markers on the chapter-ring. The price difference between the two models is also significant.
I had a green King turtle with a rubber strap come last week and the alignment is not causing problems as it may looks unbalanced in some angles, but this is a history of iconic pieces that you can get without costing a fortune, and it's practical, and good looking as well.❤
I have he green grenade version and must say it’s all aligned. I bought men from a uk authorised dealer. So the Japanese model doesn’t mean better quality control.
I have the Japan version and it’s perfect. Yours looks perfect as well from my vantage point. If you’re not happy with the alignment, remove the bezel, soak it mineral spirts overnight, remove the insert and reset with adhesive. I removed mine to install a lumed ceramic insert. I installed a lumed chapter ring as well. I also removed the double wide cyclops, which was difficult to do. I ended up using a hammer and knife. The chapter ring melted from the heat I applied, but I was going to replace it anyway. So if you do take on the challenge of removing the cyclops be careful. This cyclops didn’t remove as easily as the ones removed on RUclips channels that I watched. Forgot to mention, I also replaced the hands. This watch is awesome now. Fully lumed. The bracelet is a disappointment. May replace that as well. I think you’re being too critical with that bezel alignment. It’s perfect. Also, consider a Doxa 1500T. It is one of my favorites.
I dont see any misalighnment but even if there is one who cares this is such a first world problem i mean how bored should one be to even care about something like that!
I think I'd keep this one Simon, I really like it. Its always worth getting to an AD to see a watch in person before you buy though, I did that last year when I bought my S23635J1 Tuna.
That's a great tuna. I am thinking that I will likely sell this and buy a tuna. I regret selling the SNE498. Problem is that now they're more expensive compared to what they used to retail at after they got discontinued.
Do you know whats is the function of extending the braclet knob? if you place the crown to your face, you will see it on the right side of the open and close click.
Seiko's design, manufacturing and craftsmanship are the best out there. Now, when it comes to alignment, it is not something that they can't accomplish, they just don't seem care because it has nothing to do with the watch functionality. They see them as tools.
@@richardwell6822 Your Rolex should be significantly more accurate than a Seiko turtle. What Rolex do you have? What movement is in it? And when was it last serviced?
You mentioned a mis-alignment issue but you kept moving the watch....never pointing to the spot. I didn't see a thing. :) But, in terms of Seiko's quality control....I have heard man reviewers mention they can be a "hit and miss"....not a lot but....even if a few YTers mention it.....and to add to it if you order yours from Amazon it's likely coming from Japan...have a problem...then you're sort of SOL...unless you're willing to send it back to JP--costly and could loose the watch in the trip to or back...heh...i guess if any one is seriius about getting a Seiko...buy in-peron from an AD...though Amaszon does sel the odd Seiko tua from their location...ships localy from one of Amazon's warehouses...
I watched the video back and can see it misaligned. The bezel, no matter how accurately you try to set it to 12, always leans to the left. Which means the markers for 3-6-9 don't line up. Just not good enough for a dive watch where you're timing things under water.
@@MADTURK61372Yes, it’s a bit similar to ‘Swiss Made’ in that if certain requirements are met they can be marketed as made in Switzerland even though most of the watch is actually made and assembled overseas. In Seiko’s case they have interesting customs and labour laws which mean that if the destination market is Japan, and some minor factory requirements are met, they can put Made in Japan on the dial. These Seiko’s are all made from parts produced in China and then assembled in Malaysia. That’s why they’re affordable. If they were actually made and assembled in Japan they’d be a significantly more expensive watch.
Need more reviews from you Simon. You have some of the best taste in watches in RUclips!

Proud owner of a Seiko SLA047, a SPB255, and an SPB147...yet,the King Turtle is on my wrist as I type this. Simply perfect.

that's an old one.
the new one has a lume at the 3o'clock.
yes it's misaligned but its one of the most comfortable watches I've ever owned.

diver's extension
@@simonthewatchguy6073 you mean to put the watch upper the suit?

citizen does all of those better

Where to get the made in Japan version, help please
None of them are made in Japan. They're all made in the same Malaysian factory.

I have the KT that is not made in Japan. Not a single problem with it. Ergo, it is better than this Japanese one.
They're all made in the same factory in Malaysia, which is why we see the same amount of alignment/QC issues across the board.
You are too critical.
...its not aligned... and done! Forget this Crap from sh.... Seiko!!!
Dude, you’re way to critical. The alignment on your turtle is fine, move on with your life.
