Love your videos but why does lia look like she got in a fight and someone pull her hair lol
@@ella.C478 give her a break. She just got off a transatlantic flight!
@Joel & Lia 10 and 2 is old school. With airbags now, in a fenderbender when the airbag goes off it pulls your hand off the steering wheel and you end up punching yourself in the face. 4 and 8 is the preferred placement now.
Take a trip to some of the freshwater springs before you leave, visit Wekiwa springs park as well as Alexander Springs, and Rock springs. You can rent a tube and flow down a river on the spring in the park.
Also try to get away from all the tourist traps, There is a Place called Christmas, Florida worth visiting. Also visit Coaco Beach, and New Symra beach, Coaco beach has Ron John Surf shop which is a popular tourist point. Also take a look at Kenndy space center as well as Gaterland Zoo. You can see alligators, as well in some areas they have Airboating.
A heads up to Joel and Lia, if a driver does a favor for you like letting you merge into his lane, give him a wave. Just raising your arm so he can see it is enough. Enjoy your videos!
❤
We do that in England for literally anything so don’t worry 😂 they’ll be used to doing it
I feel like some states do it while some others don't. I was born and raised in California, but have manners that go between between midwest and east coast.
Seinfeld had a whole episode about the driver who didn’t give George a thank you wave. He just got angrier and angrier thinking about it. Funny stuff.
@@retrovelcro lol I’m from California and I definitely wave lol
Joel did an amazing job driving. I could NOT drive on the opposite side of what I'm used to as well as he just did. Well done!
Aw thanks so much!
@@ThoseTwoBrits1 haha, I know the Brit’s on camp bastion were mad at us for the first week or so we were there, as it was all nato countries and they drove the side normal for UK, and well, us being US Marines, kept driving on the wrong side, eventually they just gave up and everyone started driving on our side, haha.
When I was a kid my family went to a Caribbean island under UK rule so the cars were right-hand drive and I remember my dad just giggling and laughing because every time he tried to hit the turn signal the wipers would turn on
I remember back in my 20s I had a friend that had recently emigrated to here in Atlanta from England. Once I was chatting with her dad and noticed he had bruised knuckles on his left hand. I asked him about it and he laughed sheepishly, saying that because he was still getting used to the gear shift being on his right, he kept automatically reaching toward the left from muscle memory (he was in his late 40s and had been driving since his teens). And so he was always just basically punching the car door as a result. Poor guy! 😆
This made me chuckle lol!
I do that, too! I have a right hand drive jeep to deliver mail and a "normal" jeep. I have to remind myself where the driver side is sometimes, and constantly slap the door wanting to shift!🤪🤣
😆
Loved how Lia discreetly made the sign of the cross before Joel took off. Too funny!
I never thought anything about how communities in the US are continuously being developed out of previously undeveloped land while the UK stays pretty much the same. In 10 years many areas here become almost unrecognizable with the expansion.
Yeah the amount of space you guys have is amazing!!
@@ThoseTwoBrits1 Think of a navigator in rally racing. You will get it down extremely quickly. 2. Half American driver's know the rights of the road, but most are considerate. Always start in (a three lane road in the far right, then move to the middle, two lane, far left). Alway's look for on ramp's to move to the middle (p.s. highway's have an on ramp 100ft, so people can reach highway's speed [unless a merge sign is there or car in the merging lane available]& off ramp's to a by-way is 45 feet, which the driver can exit/merge decelerate/ecelerate 45 miles per hour.
I hadn't been to a town 10 miles south of my city for a few years. Drove down there and the exit just before it now has fast food places, gas station, and other stuff built up there, before it had nothing. I was like "Oh, ok".
Urban sprawl is disgusting. Where I live there's a large construction project (looks kind of like it could be apartments going up right next to a sub division full of ugly narrow come cutter row houses with another "paired home" (i.e. duplex) area being prepped across the street.
Given Gov Polis has invited refugees from around the world I sincerely hope those areas are not being constructed for them.
I'm old and broken but if America was invaded I'd stand and fight. I may die quick but I sure as hell wouldn't run to another country.
Yeah.... I thought I saw a Hail Mary there for a quick second :)
The fact that Joel is aware of the slow lane puts him in the top 1% of good drivers in my state. Most of the time I'm yelling at some slowpoke in the fast lane while passing them in the slow lane. That's almost as frustrating as driving down the interstate when in one lane a truck is going 65 mph, and the dude in the fast lane is going 65.2 mph while the speed limit is 75, and you can't pass either of them. Welcome back!!! When's the Route 66 vlog series start now that Joel can drive in America?
Joel's parents live in Miami so he has probably driven in Florida before.
Careful. In many states it is not the fast lane, it is the passing lane and you will gain the ire of your fellow drivers if you just stay in the left lane. As a Californian I learned this the hard way while on a trip to Austin.
@@logankaia either way seems like a good portion of drivers could care a less and will even speed up if you're forced to pass them on the right.. it's frustrating.
Joel and Lia are from the UK they actually know how to drive on motorways and use the outer lane for passing and getting back over
Many big trucks actually have a limiter at 65 or 66 mph that’s why they seem to take forever to pass each other
Just to be clear, Joel, you can proceed right at a stop light AFTER you’ve come to a complete stop and ensure no one is coming!! In many cities, you can also turn left at a stoplight IF you’re turning left onto a one-way street.
Left on red only if turning left onto a one-way street from a one-way street. Both the "to" and "from" streets must be one-way streets.
@@johnm.3279 Not in my city. A left turn from a 2-way street that is controlled by a stop light onto a one-way street is absolutely legal.
Here are the rules from the Driver’s Manual:
You can turn left on red from a one-way street onto a one-way street.
You can turn left on red from a two-way street onto a one-way street.
You cannot turn left on red from a one-way street onto a two-way street.
@@pacmanc8103 It boils down to this; you can usually turn at a red light (after a full stop) if you are not crossing another traffic lane. Signage will point out any changes to that rule.
@@mfree80286 Actually, turning left onto the one-way street you will cross over the lane where the oncoming traffic is stopped at the light. Yes, there will be signage if a turn is prohibited at that specific intersection.
@@pacmanc8103 That is very unusual. I wouldn't tell foreign visitors that because they will just get confused. Your city/state is definitely not the norm. Left turn from a one-way street onto a one-way street AFTER STOP is the norm.
Joel reminds me of the first time I drove in the UK. First thing I did driving out of the airport was go the wrong way around a roundabout. 🤣
😂😂😂
Like I said,instant train wreck,literally,and proverbially.
My parents were driving their first time in England. They called the passenger side the suicide seat because they were used to having a steering wheel there and there wasn’t one. Also some of the streets are narrow and there’s not a good place to pass.
I did paper routes for years... so I could do the left side of the road thing... but I would be awful in the roundabouts... I'd be doing circles for hours not knowing how to get off it.
I love driving in the US, much less stressful. I'm actually flying to the US in 3weeks and driving from Tampa to Corpus Christi to visit friends and then back to Tampa to have a week relaxing in the sun before flying back home in the UK. Great driving Joel !
I've driven all over the USA and Florida has some of the worst drivers. The roads are generally nice but people will randomly and suddenly make u-turns right into a fastlane, I had never seen so many people running red lights after just a brief stop, and often people will suddenly change lanes without using a signal.
I don't know if it's because there are so many visitors from other places that are confused combined with so many retired people or what but the two weeks I was down there I was about ran into about a dozen times by people suddenly making random moves.
Los Angeles traffic is notorious but they seem to be better drivers, drive fast when they can, and seemed to be in much more control of their cars!
@@Jack_Stafford You can't go anywhere here in LA without getting in a car. Most of us drive better than we walk. I've had dreams where I'm driving because I have to drive so much, and even in my dreams I pay attention to the traffic, the traffic lights, the turn indicator, and the stop signs...
@@Jack_Stafford I live in Florida and even people here will say that if you can drive on 95 and I-4 then you can drive anywhere. 95 is actually worse than I-4 so people will say 95 more, unless you've never been that far south then you would normally say I-4 and occasionally US 27.
@@Jack_Stafford With respect, clearly you've never driven in NYC or North Jersey, especially around the airports and tourist sites and in or around midtown/downtown Manhattan, and I would suspect you have not had heavy dealings with NYC cab drivers. LOL!!!!! You're correct about FL, but bear in mind that large parts of FL are transient areas (a good chunk of the drivers are from other countries and do not understand the rules and regulations and many other areas are retirement communities). Los Angeles used to NOT post its freeway interchanges--think about that if you don't live there.
@@shebadog9628 I remember they repaved 7th ave a few years back and went weeks without adding the lane lines. It was absolute chaos with people randomly going from a loose 3 lanes to a tight 6 lanes. Williamsburg is also near and dear to my heart (If you know, you know). I must admit that as pedestrian, I'll probably be taken out by a bike/e-bike because they're the real savages of the city. I went to school in Tallahassee and lived in S. Fl where I was in a total of 3 accidents and not once did the other person have insurance. Atlanta is pretty bad too but mainly due traffic.
The key to driving in Florida is to just imagine you're in Mad Max: Fury Road. Especially on I-4 and especially between MCO and any of the theme parks.
Lia's face when in the first two minutes Joel says "We're going to crash".😨 Too funny. Safe travels. Love you both! Welcome back!!🤩🥰
Lia definitely giving off "mom energy" in this video.
Lack of control that one feels in cars especially as a passenger can set that off. lol
More like domineering bit**.
“Put both hands on the wheel.” Lol
As an American that hadn't driven a manual transmission since I was a teenager, driving a stick shift in Ireland when I was in my mid 60s was a trip.
Does one ever forget it even their 60s especially when one has learned it young. I can't imagine ever forgetting it after stalling so many times learning first gear as a teenager lol.
From Florida Here! I learned when we bought our first house that almost all florida houses are made from a wood frame because you have to use cinderblocks for most of the build to protect from hurricane winds and damage. The material cost is way too high to use both brick frame+cinderblock so most homes have wood frame+cinderblocks.
Kudos for driving. I would NEVER attempt to drive on the left side. I'd be in an accident within minutes!
It's not just the driving. If you cross the street and look the wrong way, you might be run over. That happened to me in London several times.
LOL, watching this is like watching my parents drive but without the cursing.
This is my first video with you guys, and I can say as an American this is EXACTLY how stressed I would be driving in Britain! Definitely a test of your relationship as well with this kind of stress, but you both did a good job and this was a great video!
I went to the Caymans and drove “British” style for a week. I screamed so often thinking I was going to run into another car. I also constantly turned on the windshield wipers instead of the turn signal since they are backwards. Was fun though!
I drove for the first time in the UK in a manual transmission car!! The first day every time I went to shift I kept hitting the door! 😂😂 So used to shifting with my right hand! I was more worried about shifting than driving on the opposite side of the road!! By the second day I was doing much better! You did a great job!! Leaving the airport is always the toughest part! Safe Travels!! ❤️
Never pay for rental car fuel-- they will seriously overcharge
If on my own dime for the rental, I always topped off the fuel just before returning the car. Just show them the receipt from the gas station to have no fuel charge.
The only time I would ever do that is if I knew it was going to be a close call dropping the car off and I didn't want to try to find the closest gas station that doesn't overcharge.. and then I plan on leaving it near empty!
I just use Turo! Better than any car rental agency!
I love y'all RUclips channel and I'm from Camden New Jersey just over the bridge from Philadelphia and 30 minutes away from Delaware and dress warm because it's going to be really cold outside
TMI bruh.
As someone who grew up in Burlington County I feel for ya lol. I'm messing with you by the way. Love the state but... Well Jersey is Jersey nough said. Lol much love.
I love the Jersey Shore and appreciate it more so now that I don’t live in the NE anymore. New Jersey is well under rated.
In fact, the reason the freeways are called freeways, is because they do NOT have tolls. The highways that do have tolls, are called "toll roads" or "turnpikes". There are also toll bridges in some places, particularly in New England for some reason.
That's what I was gonna say
We don't call them freeways on the east coast. Highway is what we say. You must be from the Western US.
I live 5 mi down the street from Disney World and I know most people on the road don't know where they are going so I leave plenty of room for them to switch lanes quickly in front of me. You did a great job Joel and I loved your prayer Lia 😊
As someone who emigrated from the UK to to Northern California, I can so relate to everything Joel is concerned about. Lia is an excellent co-pilot. Because of earthquakes, our homes are built from wood as it’s a natural product and gives during the shake, rattling and rolling, depending on the type of earthquake. In San Francisco and probably California in general, I reinforced masonry is illegal as it can crumble and kill people.
Generally everywhere in America houses are wood-framed because wood is so plentiful and much cheaper, but thousands of years of settlement and expansion in England has made it more rare and expensive.
It does make me wonder what the frame of the house in England is, the keys even brick houses in America are framed in wood and then bricked over the wood frame, only on the outside.
I understand very historical houses would be completely made out of rock and brick, but what about any new construction in England? What do they use for a basic middle-sized family house for the frame?
Steel frame is starting to become more common as well. It started in commercial construction but it's been coming to residential as well. It's costs a little more in materials, but it's much faster to assemble.
@@Trifler500 steel frame in Florida too for sturdiness during hurricane but exterior walls are concrete block.
@@Jack_Stafford When I was in England, I stayed in a home that was built in the 16th century. It was all wood construction, but the floor had warped so much over the centuries that it was like walking on the deck of a ship in rough seas.
@@Jack_Stafford New houses in England tend to be a brick outside layer with an air gap and then breeze block inside. Breeze block is cheaper and not as strong as brick.
Lia is a passenger driver 🤣😂
Lia was making me a nervous wreck and I wasn't even there lol. She looked like she was gonna throw up the whole drive lol. Joel you did great!
haha the lack of belief in me is astounding haha!
She was WAY more calm and collected than a lot of people i know would be in her shoes! Lol. They turn into bossy, irritated , anxious buttheads that are almost insufferable. Lol.
Yes, you will find that many American drivers are patient and polite. More often than not making an error while driving will not be met with gunfire.
In Chicago it will be met with gunfire 😂
I would be so nervous driving in the u.k. this was pure comedy though.
That was so much fun, it really must be strange to drive in another country, I’ve never done that before. I loved it when Lia said to Joel “ gettin’ a little comfortable there, can we do 10 and 2”. Hysterical. 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed this car ride with you. You seem so casual and natural. Well done, you! Welcome back to the USA...we're so happy you're here. I'm recuperating from total knee replacement; my second...so visits with J&L while I recuperate will be very therapeutic...and I've always said it! Enjoy Wood Manor of Florida.

💐💐💐💐
Loved this video of y’all’s drive. So casual and fun just like we were all on a road trip with you both! 😊❤️
You did a great job. As someone who lived in Orlando for many, many years, it's a difficult city to navigate and the constant construction and detours are ridiculous.
Lia's reaction to "We're gonna crash" made me laugh out loud!
Great job Joel, looked like one smooth ride. Lia, only did I hear a couple of deep sighs, lol. I will never forget when I was in England, and the two friends who picked up our car came in the house with tears, took a little longer for the adjustment of driving in London.
The reason we take a right on red, (unless indicated by a sign). is primarily to conserve fuel and also to keep traffic moving. You can also take a left on red if the street you're turning onto is one-way. The US driver has been allowed (and encouraged), to do this legally since 1977. The Arab oil embargo of 1973 being the impetus of course.
In NYC you are not allowed to turn right on red unless a sign says otherwise.
Good job! It would be nerve wracking to drive on the “wrong” side of the road while exiting an airport - they’re busy and confusing places to drive, generally. Hope the rest of your time here in the US goes well.
I think he has driven in the US before as His parents live in Miami Florida, and he visits them every chance he gets.
Yes, and the first thing to greet you is usually a roundabout..... :)
"We're gonna crash"......im literally crying
Great job Joel! Lia thank you for telling Joel to take deep breaths. True friendship.
She wants to control him completely, even his breathing...he's a doormat.
Great driving! When My husband and I were in AUS and driving for the first time on opposite side…my husband and I were constantly arguing (he was driving). I was a nervous reck! Much more difficult than anticipated..lol.
Lia you were so nice giving Joel encouragement driving. Very positive help.
This reminds me of when I lived in England, and at times would have to sit and wait for a car to pass to remember which side of the road I needed to turn onto. Also, ALWAYS turned on my windshield wipers instead of the turn signal at roundabouts…they were on opposite sides of what I was used to.
I rode all over England and Wales on a motorcycle. In a car, you at least have a clue to which side of the road you need to be on, but on a motorcycle it's easy to wander into the right lane without even noticing it. Good thing British drivers are very well trained, or I wouldn't be here today.
We must make Lady Shallot stick. That’s a great name. 😂
They’re jet lagged flying from Nashville to Orlando?! Nice one.😂
Watching live at the same time, and I've always said it.
In Michigan you can turn both left and right at the red lights, which is both disorienting & terrifying for someone who’s from out of state. Here in Ohio (at least in Columbus anyhow) even U-turns are illegal in most areas but statewide in Michigan they’re totally fine. It’s super difficult to adjust to drastic changes in driving laws. Kudos to you for doing so well 👏🏼😌
I love british accents. So, calming to me. lol.
Excellent driving Joel and Lia I love your southern accent. Y'all fit right in!
I don't want to indicate 😂😂 took me a bit to figure that out
Lol me too. I'm like what are they trying to indicate?
They are indicating the way they intend to go.
When driving a car, anywhere, sit in the driver's seat roll down the window. Put your arm on the window sill. That is the middle of the road. It a handy trick when you turn onto a new road in a strange place.
Prayers for you while traveling !! While driving !! God Bless you both. Much Love guys!!!!
Hi, Joel and Lia ! I've been following you for a few years and I love your videos. It's especially lovely to see when a couple like you is on the same wavelength, understanding each other so fast 💜
I hope one day I will be able to travel to England. Your accent is a balm for my ears :D
White cars generally stay a little cooler in sunny climates, because the white reflects a lot of the sunlight whereas darker colors absorb sunlight.
Get closer to the coast in Florida, or go further south, and the houses are built with concrete blocks because of hurricanes.
To turn right on red, legally you are supposed to make a complete stop then proceed when clear although most people don’t but you can get a ticket if you don’t.
Love it! Welcome to Florida!!! I can imagine the fear factor ... especially driving in the opposite seat you are used to. Y'all handled everything so well! Just an FYI: The 10 & 2 hands on steering wheel positioning is no longer the norm....due to AIRBAGS! If your arms are in that position in an accident and the airbags are deployed, your arms (bones) are more than likely going to be smacked into your face (another bone). Ouch! The new position is 9 & 3. You're welcome. ❤
Or just 5
Looks pretty calm for the first time lol.
Joel needs glasses and Lia is so nervous!
I moved to Florida from Belfast in 1994. I remember that initial heart in my mouth, first time driving on the right hand side, terror. Took around 6 months to really feel comfortable driving.
FYI, Joel & Lia, holding the steering wheel on a modern car at the 10 and 2 positions is not a good idea because that i where the airbag vents are located on the back of the wheel. Fun fact: Unless you want to "de-glove" your hands, place both of them at the 9 and 3 positions instead (that is why there are indentations on the steering wheel where you can place both your thumbs). Aside from that, it was a nice video... and I've always said it!
You two are hilarious ❤️😂 Just stumbled upon your channel and I am absolutely loving your content 😇😊☺️🫶❤️ Welcome to the US 🇺🇸
They should have ‘Brit Driver’ bumper stickers the way they have ‘Student Driver’ ones. Ha ha.
Florida has hurricanes, so they recommend cinder block (baked concrete) construction.
I can’t imagine not being able to turn right on red. It saves so much time 😂. I’d probably be getting so many tickets in the UK.
Most countries ban turning on red. China allows it in some places though.
I've driven all over Europe (Barcelona was a total nightmare) but not the UK. I have anxiety just thinking about fighting instinct to be on the other side of the road. I don't think I will ever do it, but I would love a roadtrip through the UK.
I would be absolutely petrified to drive in the UK, or any other country besides America for that matter. You did a great job Joel! Very impressed with your driving and remaining calm. I would of been a nervous wreck!
Its very similar to the US worldwide with the exception of the Commonwealth countries as well as switching to the metric system. But because most cars display speeds in both systems, the latter won't take long to get used to. I hear the Bahamas is the trickiest because they drive on the left like in the UK, but they use North American style cars with the driver seat still on the left side
You'd be quite comfortable in Canada, it's very much like the U.S.
It was very nice driving in Canada, it's not hard to convert the kilometers per hour once you know 100 kilometers per hour equals about 60 miles an hour.
And the drivers are generally very kind and will allow you to merge especially when they see an American Plate and see you're a visitor they will understand a little confusion :-) and they drive on the same side of the road as America so it really is just reading the signs and realizing everything is going to be in both English and French so sometimes it takes a second to register, to skip the French and go to the English paragraph because they alternate which one is on the top and which one is on the bottom.
The only problem I ran into was in Toronto is I was not paying attention and I stopped at a stoplight, and their trolley shares the same roads as the cars and I was right on the trolley tracks at a stoplight and it had to honk at me get out of its way LOL
But the highways and road were very smooth, excellently maintained and of course everything is clean and well-marked.
We drove all over Ontario, my dad drove through Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta and we had absolutely no problems.
I have heard it is different in Quebec because they don't always include English on the signs and the people generally are not as patient or understanding to English speakers.
Wrong, the Bahamas is a US territory and the drive on the right side of the road, I went on cruise to the Bahamas in 2010.
@@marydavis5234 the Bahamas is not a US territory... its a sovereign nation-state for almost 50 years, part of the British Commonwealth and a former British territory. They drive on the left side. Perhaps you're thinking of the US Virgin Islands? The only Gulf/Caribbean US territories are the virgin islands and Puerto Rico, plus some disputed small islands/shoals near Jamaica, which the US disputes sovereignty over with Colombia. I did also go on a cruise there, nice place to visit! 🇧🇸
10 and 2 can cause arms to break when airbag deploys. 9 and 3 is better with thumbs upward and not wrapped around wheel
It’s not just driving on the wrong side of the road, but you’re driving on the wrong side of the car. I think you did exceptionally well for a first timer! Hope you had a wonderful holiday!!
Luv Lia crossing herself. LOL
You did an absolutely amazing job driving in the US! I can’t imagine myself driving on the opposite side of the road because I’m used to how we drive here in America. It’s crazy that y’all are just below my state and aren’t that far from where I live it only takes me 2hr and 42min to get to Orlando. I hope y’all have fun with visit ❤️

You are brave driving in FLORIDA! I have spent a lot of time down there and the drivers are insane. The old people drive very slow and everyone else has road rage around them. Had an SVU turn over in front of me on I95!
Joel's parents live in Miami so he is probably used to driving in Florida.
I'm from Florida. We don't know how to drive. Best of luck, kids!

And glad you had fun there 😃🇺🇸
We're gone to crash?? HAHAHA HAHAHA HAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣
I've been watching you two for years now. You both have grown in your American ways.
Yay! Glad to finally see this! Great job driving, Joel! I'm curious, what was Lia's disbelief about the post office?
I can tell you that as a Taff now living in Canada, it is TEN TIMES easier for some one from the UK to drive over here than the other way around. I drove in the UK for the first time in 28 years and it was terrifying! Sitting on the opposite side, changing gears with the other hand, using a clutch again ( I was amazed I could still do it) , narrow roads, cars parked on either side of the road, often on the wrong side, multi-lane roundabouts, with lights! one lane roads, and of course, in Wales, bi-lingual road signs. speed cameras, not being to eat a burger while driving (!)
The saddest thing I ever heard was a British family that came to the US for a holiday, rented a car and directly pulled out in front of a Semi. I think it happened in Orlando.
It's so easy to do. Especially when you pull out on to a road and there are no other cars as a reminder- until you meet one head on.
Prince Joel & Lady shallot LOL!
Lia: "I would just stop on red"
You are supposed to stop on red when making a right turn. It's just that you can go after you stop and look, like a stop sign.
Oh God I'm dying here. Can't stop crying. Thank you. Have been waiting for a video like this. Sticks! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't think I'd be able to drive in the UK simply because the roads are so much smaller and narrower.
Only in the country, most are fine.
Joel looks like he's speeding! Lol
I’m like nervous for you guys!
Remember to stop first on a Red.
A blinking red is just like a stop sign. A blinking yellow is just like a yield or like "take care"
I'm American and this is funny. Lmao. Also green means go, yellow means slow down, red means stop.
As an American who owns a right hand drive vehicle with manual transmission, I will say that it is no problem shifting with the other hand.
When I drive in the UK, I always go with stick (usually don't have a choice anyway). It's surprising how quickly you do get used to it, so I've learned over the years to have a healthy respect for it not being your normal everyday way of driving. When making changes, always be 100% present. Ever since I started doing that, no issues.
Had the same experience three years ago, driving on the left in Melbourne, Australia. Did OK, city intersections and roundabouts were the most confusing. After driving all day on the Great Ocean Road, I was an old pro.
I love this video! My friend and I were the same way when visiting the UK and driving there.
Oh Lord. My first time driving in the UK was after 23 hours or something of travel, planes trains and buses, and by myself, AND I'm over 50, and yes a standard :) I did however prove I haven't lost my marbles! The worst thing, coming from Canada, was the ongodly high speed limits- going north on the A9, with the road getting narrower and fully loaded log trucks heading south in the twilight. Ugh. Was a 3 hour drive and I was determined to get there before dark :)
I live on the A9 north of Inverness and can confirm that it is the worst road I've driven on. Well done for surviving 🤣
I'm so glad you lived to tell the story. I think driving in Texas would have been way worse.
I'm from Mass, currently in Texas, I feel it's very similar. However in Massachusetts, when the light turns green and someone behind you doesn't lean on their horn because you don't peel out, (slang: burn rubber) I'm Slightly disappointed. 😅
Signage on surface streets may vary, but signage on interstate highways or other major highways is usually excellent. Road Guy Rob recently published a video about the different signs and their color scheming.
You should know that although you can make a right on a red, you need to come to a complete stop at the limit line and checking that there is no traffic before proceeding into the intersection.
Joel : "We're gonna crash." + Lia's expression = Priceless
Bag at the door at Family Dollar?! I’ve never experienced that.
Great driving Joel! Well done!
“Omg, for the first time in a foreign country without my mom and dad” 😂😂😂
Love it when foreigners esp. UK start comparing how far they would have gone in thier country 😂
I think the car license plate on the rental was Pennsylvania. PA was put in your minds in Orlando. 🤣
You’re right!
Adorable. Reminds me of my first time driving in Germany on the Autobahn, as a twenty one year old. I thought I would die as big Mercedes's and BMW's were bearing down on me in the fast lane. LOL.
Actually, you need to make a full stop on a red right turn. Then, if the way is clear you can go. Don't forget to look both ways because people who are walking have the right of way. Have fun😊
