One should really mention the number of factions. Battlefield after BF2 barely have diverse factions, sticking too much on major superpowers without creating smaller factions. BF1 is such a fresh air for me personally, as I can hear anything more than English and Russian as ambient sound.
This is something i expect form the next BF game, i do not vibe with the US vs RUSSIA or WEST vs EST themes factions, i want multiple factions with their own technologies. For exemple i want each country to have their own MBT but making them having similar stats for balance.

World war 1 is the most important war of all time, and it is so sadly unrepresented in any and all media, it was the reason why we had world war 2, why empires collapsed, and so much more. After bf1 we got all quiet on the western front remade and 1917, isonzo has come out too. We have a couple of WW1 games on the way too
Recently i played a match on monte grapa. My team was losing enough to get the airship. We ended up coming back and winning 1000 to 999. Ill never forget that match lol
I know a guy who was on the battlefield team at dice since bf3, they'd been wanting to make a ww1 game since bf4. EA wanted a futuristic setting instead of what we got for bf1
Why would they make a WW1 game when they meanwhile insist that all the mechanics and gameplay must be modern anyway? BF1 is a WW1 reskin of a modern, or at the very earliest WW2, style game.
@@fridrekr7510its also the reason I now study history, 8 years later. It's authentic, but not accurate. It feels right, and for a AAA game that's good enough in my book.
Had three different accounts. Fell in love with this the second I played it - made a WWII nerd into a WWI nerd as well. Even bought “Poilu” by Louis Barthas. Gameplay is tight and fun - one a kind - many good maps and weapons, and also every second is an “only in battlefield” moment.
I play Battlefield 1 at least once a month or more to this day, since it came out. The cinematic quality of the multiplayer is unmatched among Battlefield games.
After 4000 hours of bf1 and becoming rank 2nd in the world with fighter aircraft, I've realized what makes this game great. It's the simplicity of everything, there is a saying keep it simple stupid (K.I.S.S) you don't need futuristic guns and vehicles to have fun, it just has to be simple and balanced.
BF3 and BF1: two of the greatest Battlefield games ever. Both were gritty, and I loved the lumbering nature of BF3. You didn’t feel like a super soldier. The BF3 co-op was also the best I ever experienced. Now everything is e-sportified. I hate it.
Ngl. as someone who got into learning about WW1 because of BF1...ngl. I LOVE BF1 FOR IT...thpigh wished we got more of BF1 and also better games than just Isonzo,Tannenberg and Verdun, who aren't even close to what masterpiece BF1 is...

As far as fps games go my this is my all time favorite. I play on my living room tv with my surround sound turned almost all the way up and it's just so fun to get really immersed in the chaos of each match. Love it
Battlefield 1 was since it release, when I was just 9 to this day will forever remain not just a favorite of series, but one of the favourite games EVER made. The beauty and horror of war, the screaming voices of soldiers blended together with soundtrack so touching, I could feel it on my fingertips. The map design, the vehicles, the weapons, bayonet charges, behemoths. I can't even list it all but this game is not just a part of my life but a part of my heart now.
I have had few highs like x7 kills in a single lance charge followed by an immediate tank destroy causing a total team bayonet charge and melee brawl onto the point.
Premium pass was a god’s gift. If people understood that developing games costs money instead of wanting everything for free we wouldnt be where we are now.
I was one of the people who cried out for live service all day every day. I was so, so wrong. Bf1s premium pass was almost the same amount of content as the base game. Best 120 euro I ever spent.
@ from the second I heard that they would add a live service on a video from Westie I commented that it would ruin everything. Sadly it did. Now it isn’t the only reason, but soooo many games get fucked because they want a live service. No income->no content->no players and the cycle continues. Really weird how ‘paywall’ and ‘separating the player base’ is still used as an excuse. Yeah you need to pay for quality games, fuck me who would’ve thought of that. Hope they figure it out some day
Premium sucked. It divided the player base in two. EA didn't need any more money. They sell shortcut kits and other shit. Look at how expensive battlepacks are...
I also don't think the little mini campaigns get enough credit. I might not remember their names (except Edwards because you keep hearing it) but I remember the stories. They were fantastic. ESPECIALLY the tank crew story. That moment they got stuck in the mud and sent the pigeon out was just *chef's kiss*.
I remember first loading up the games multiplayer and the blimp had just loaded in and I have never had that “oh sh**” sinking feeling in my chest before a game before. The cinematic quality of this game is just insane!!!
A little correction, Hardline wasn't made by DICE, and the development of BF1 was likely conceptualised before BF4 even got released. This was the last Battlefield made by a lot of the old guard still present at DICE, and was their dream to make for a long time.
This was truly, DICE at its peak. I was just a sophomore in highschool when my buddies and I were going crazy at the best reveal trailer of all time, which had dropped while we were in class 😅
Ever since I did a deep dive into World War One several years ago, I have a much deeper appreciation for life, history, and for other people from other cultures. I have a desire to learn more about the world now, and the people in it. I have this game to thank for that initial spark of curiosity. I never would’ve learned so much had Battlefield 1 not gripped me as hard as it did
Even though you can run and gun with experimetal smgs, BF1 feels like more than a game with it's soundtrack and tone. It's a centennial tribute to the men of the Great War
I may be wrong but i believe thisnis when warzone came into play. I was one that drifted as i craved that solo type competition win as opposed to the team efforts of bf1 and bfv. But after returning to each of these bf games. Im stunned with how ahead of their time they were. I cant stop playing them. Just hope the servers stay populated for years to come! Cheers 🍻
Authenticity over accuracy was BF1's best creative choice. The gameplay has more trappings of a WW2 game, but the grit, the classic bolt actions and janky new tech, and the unrelentingly haunting sound design give the overall vibe of a WW1 setting. It just feels right. Every little thing enhanced the game sound-wise. The incredibly well recorded player dialogue, the buckling impacts of explosives on vehicle hulls, every click of your rifle and the ping of knocking an empty clip out of the charger bridge, the squad leaders' whistle, and the battle cry when you take a phase line in operations, it immerses you like no other game has before or since. When a game commits to itself and takes itself seriously, people notice
BF1 is one of the best multiplayers in the genre ever. The operations were the biggest attraction for me and, even when I wasn't good at shooting the enemies, there was always something for me to do. If your aim wasn't good enough to hit targets, you could pop smokes and run around as a medic reviving dead allies or resupplying the people holding the line. You didn't have to be good at shooters to make a positive impact on the game.
Back To Basics was an awesome custom gamemode they made for BF1 tbh, wish that by default all classes had gotten the infantry bolt actions, but looked to the faction/nation you were playing in normal multiplayer. Those were some awesome matches that felt balanced in a way (except playing against the Ottomans when they had the pre-patch Martini)
I feel like BF1 is the child of Bad Company 2 - incredible sound, great visuals for their times, a focus on teamplay giving one side the edge over the other, a signature game mode (Rush and Grand Operations), a limited but great inventory of weapons, somewhat unfair vehicles and maps scaled for fun and a sort of honest portrayal of conflict through soldier voice lines and voiceovers. Both had great DLC too. And you're right, we likely won't see one of those again for a long, long time.
My favorite multiplayer shooter of all time by far. I love the time period and the weapons and amazing. It has its flaws but they’re kinda part of the charm. You can use almost any weapon and be effective with it and that opens up a lot you can do in the game. You can learn to master the sniper mechanics or be amazing with the other classes and have so many options for load outs and still do relatively well. It’s awesome and I play multiple times a week
I think another battlefield 1, with the new engine and the advances they made after this game would be good. For example, after playing battlefield V the ability to lay down and move around felt a lot missing. But always happy to go back and play this game. And the single player, I was so invested in the character, and the feeling of grief for the actual people that fought in that war and went through it.
We have yet to have a triple A game in the past 9 years to rival/match the grit, atmosphere, visuals, and scale of this majestic game. Easily one of my favorite shooters!
Sniping was so cool in this. Every sniper had its own 1 hit kill sweetspot range, a good idea to eliminate unrealistic quick scoping like cod. If I could pair with an ammo guy I could spot flare the map, easy wins!
BF1 was and still is my favorite Battlefield to play. I remember the hype I felt from the trailer and the gameplay actually lived up to the hype (unlike the last 2 games).
Then they made BFV which had a rough start cause they didn’t completely understand what WW2 was about, until they finally understood it after the pacific update but sadly abandoned the game for the mega slop that was 2042.
The sad part about this game is that I absolutely loved it on console, but on PC I can’t seem to get a single kill. I don’t play one of the best games I’ve ever gotten to experience because it’s infuriating on the only system I have left
War pigeons was one of the greatest modes I ever played in a FPS. I put so many hrs in it that I was top 20 when it came to releasing pigeons 😂😂😂 such a great game.
Bf 1 was a S teir lvl game I still occasionally play to this day. Only minor issue imo is that ww1 was the last time the literal entire world still considered the sword a combat weapon and not just a ceremonial one (at least on paper). With that being said, I wish they added at least a good 5 or so more swords to the game.
BF1 my beloved, if at some point the servers will be dead, there may be another alternative that gives me similar vibes, even though there is no WW1 era game like this that comes close. It would be Hell Let Loose for me, WW2 set "Milsim", slower paced and less arcady, but also has great map visuals and immerses me into being a soldier with a valuable task. BF1 has accompanied me through a big chunk of life and I am so thankful for it, it really is so good that it still shines uncomparably to modern day shooters. Detailed yet clean visuals, combat satisfying and my god the sound design and OST. Everything combined into one game, well done Dice.
Never. Started playing last January. Thank the guy who made a post saying, bad players included as much as possible. For being patient with me as I improved. Along with synthetic man.
As a historical game, not really unless we do it again in 2064 in the 150 year anniversary of WW1. The game was a success because it released within the timespan of the WW1 100 Year interest in the era; The Great War Channel was in full swing with Indy Neidell telling week-by-week the war, and was an advisor to the game, same with Ian McCollum on the weapons front. It recieved huge media attention via the RUclips sphere. Secondly it released when CoD was at its lowest. With them announcing Infinite Warfare (which if looked objectively is a great campaign), and the fanbase disappointed, one week later DICE dropped the trailer for BF1; all the industry was shocked. It helped that DICE/EA had their eyes firmly set on the game and it was supported for a very long time. I predict we're gonna have an awesome WW2 FPS revival in 2039-2045 when the 100 Years since WW2 happen, if only the gaming industry is willing to push innovation forward until then and deliver another BF1; albeit in WW2 like they did with the original Battlefields.
BF1 did what you would expect from Call of Duty series for its "Campaign", I am Turkish and the Gallipoli mission... I felt terrible shooting my ancestors. The campaign was... not here for you to play, but for you to *feel* the brutality of World War 1 "The Great War" Mud... blood and more. Pure chaos and death. The only thing that saved CoD was WW II in 2017. (About a year after BF1 released)
this game did a lot for me, besides being a great source of entertainment, fun and thrilling at its best (yet undeniably extremely frustrating at its worst) I became fascinated with the time period, obsessed with the firearms in the game and from that era, and loved learning about the technological developments and geopolitical tensions that eventually led to ww2 and present day. This game will go down as one of the greats. The fortnite kids have no idea what they've been missing out on

And then you get mowed down by a SMG-08 user...
Isonzo is pretty good. I bounce from that and BF1 sometimes. Dude I'd recommend BF1 Premium.
For exemple i want each country to have their own MBT but making them having similar stats for balance.
so let's look at the factions
recolored germans to play austro-hungarians
recolored germans to play ottomans
germans
french
recolored french to play italians
british
british with hats to play australians
and dlc russians
This game still has an active player base. There’s tons of servers to choose from hardcore being the most fun imo for sniping.
The sound in this game man. Every time I die of a head shot it scares the fuck out of me. Such good sound. Graphics still look amazing. I still play it alot!!
An absolute rare gem in gaming history. A near perfect incarnation of a WW1 shooter.
BF1 was the most immersive title. I found myself playing more as a roleplayer vs a good K/D radio. It was fun without pressure
This game is so dang good. Easily one of the most immersive and terrifying experience. I feel bad for those who never got to experience this game.
Unmatched in atmosphere #BF1Forever
I know a guy who was on the battlefield team at dice since bf3, they'd been wanting to make a ww1 game since bf4. EA wanted a futuristic setting instead of what we got for bf1
I’m glad EA didn’t go with the future setting.
@@fridrekr7510 Because truly period accurate WW1 combat would be boring as hell in a video game.
Started playing in August 2024 and will not stop
January 2024 started. Feel the same.
Im still on bf1 every week. Still thrilling amd fun. Immersive, like no other battlefield.
Same bro same.
This is where the Battlefield franchise peaked
I thought it was awesome seeing so many different factions and fronts displayed.
abd it was organic no forced representation
BF3 and BF1: two of the greatest Battlefield games ever. Both were gritty, and I loved the lumbering nature of BF3. You didn’t feel like a super soldier. The BF3 co-op was also the best I ever experienced. Now everything is e-sportified. I hate it.
Such a shame. This game was an absolute masterpiece.
Where's the shame? Full lobbies daily
literally not
Absolutely loved this game. Every so often I fire it up again. It’s got such a great tone for the setting they chose.
Ngl. as someone who got into learning about WW1 because of BF1...ngl. I LOVE BF1 FOR IT...thpigh wished we got more of BF1 and also better games than just Isonzo,Tannenberg and Verdun, who aren't even close to what masterpiece BF1 is...
Some of these compains genuinly made me cry. Grate story telling. Showing the heroics and terror of ww1. Relly good multiplayer too. Ironicly some of the fastest close to medium range action in battlefeald history i miss it a lott. The servers on ps4 are gone
It felt like a commemoration!!! Thank you Dice. Greetings from Flanders Fields
most respectful & artistic first person shooter. felt like a tribute to the war & those lost
Get the developers nuts out of your mouth. These games make millions, they don’t need more money, they need to stop being obsessed with profit.
you are the reason gaming industry is destroyed
I also don't think the little mini campaigns get enough credit. I might not remember their names (except Edwards because you keep hearing it) but I remember the stories. They were fantastic. ESPECIALLY the tank crew story. That moment they got stuck in the mud and sent the pigeon out was just *chef's kiss*.
Great video, i was just playing the story again so great timing for this video
Not to mention more than half the original crew of battlefield have quit.
I can honestly say that this game gave me the best memories playing with my squad
Hands down one of the best games i've ever played! Hopped back on it a couple weeks ago and still playing it!!
I never would’ve learned so much had Battlefield 1 not gripped me as hard as it did
This was honeslt one of the greatest games ive ever played. Top 2. The sound, the graphics, the maps, the vehicles. Everything was just sensational
Me and one of my buddies decided to hop back into the servers this week, and I couldn’t recommend it enough. Don’t let this game die
Even though you can run and gun with experimetal smgs, BF1 feels like more than a game with it's soundtrack and tone. It's a centennial tribute to the men of the Great War
This was the first FPS game played... I played through the War Stories and well... I think the Epilogue fits perfectly for how the game turned out
BF1 will be one of the games I replay after a decade, and will still love it
I may be wrong but i believe thisnis when warzone came into play. I was one that drifted as i craved that solo type competition win as opposed to the team efforts of bf1 and bfv. But after returning to each of these bf games. Im stunned with how ahead of their time they were. I cant stop playing them. Just hope the servers stay populated for years to come!
Cheers 🍻
My favourite game of all time. The soundtrack will echo in my heart forever.
💯
That females voice is ethereal
You didn't have to be good at shooters to make a positive impact on the game.
love to hear someone speak as passionately about this game as I am
It was my first true shooter game and it’s sad that I’ll probably never experience something like those first few months of BF1
This game is one of the greats. It is incredible. Experiencing it in 2016 was an awesome feeling
One of the best battlefields ever made I still hop on weekly, plays amazing
Im currently doing the peacekeeper easter egg right now, its hell, but i wouldnt dedicate the amount to get it for a lesser game
It’s awesome and I play multiple times a week
i love the muted tone & grittiness, the atmosphere!
I still play this on series x. It still is such a masterpiece.
This game getting a remaster would be incredible
Sniping was so cool in this. Every sniper had its own 1 hit kill sweetspot range, a good idea to eliminate unrealistic quick scoping like cod. If I could pair with an ammo guy I could spot flare the map, easy wins!
You need to watch Peter Jackson’s “they shall not grow old”
Because our ANZACS had it bloody tough…
BF1 by far was one of my favourite games, I was hyped to see a game exploring WW1 and not the cliche WW2
It's crazy how this game looks just as good, if not better, than most games today. It came out 9 years ago!
I don’t play one of the best games I’ve ever gotten to experience because it’s infuriating on the only system I have left
game is nearly 10 years old but looks better than 90% of todays games, its just Astounding.
That Calvary whistle will always be in my head 😂
War pigeons was one of the greatest modes I ever played in a FPS. I put so many hrs in it that I was top 20 when it came to releasing pigeons 😂😂😂 such a great game.
I really don't get how, even with random bullet spread, a mechanic that most people hate, the gunplay still felt good.
My biggest gameing regret is moveing on from Battlefield 1 to Battlefield 5 too soon.
I hope i never see an another bf1 gameplay wise ever again but rather its atmosphere and music
NOTHING dice ever creates in the future will ever even match up to bf1. one of my favourite games ever.
5600hours into Bf1 , do i need to say more?😂
say nothing
get a life
@ 🙂↔️ nah i have a good life but thanks
