I've never been an Apple product user by choice. I did have to use those multi-coloured iMac computers back in high school. I won't buy the track, the scanner, or an iPhone for this. I just want the cars. The fact that they have limited this to Apple only, is a shame.

This is a great addition to the Hot Wheels line-up. Perfect for the next gen Hot Wheels fan and Collector! I'm Glad to see the mix of virtual and physical track play. Great looking cars! Big thumbs up on this!
Oh neat, I just stripped down and am getting ready to paint a Nissan GTR white myself. That looks super slick for sure in all white, cant wait to get mine done now.
That’s pretty cool new concept. Also great new packaging. Will definitely try to seek these out in the wild.
hot wheels better get the Ferrari licence back it's been a real downer that last few years not having all the great new car models from Ferrari. Very Very disapointed they let that go

Ferrari is the very reason not all toy makers and game studios features Ferraris in their lineup. Ferrari is acting really petty and pretentious about people smashing and deconstructing their Ferrari models virtually and figuratively on toys. Its bad for the marque's PR and its one of the reasons I gave up liking Ferrari. Lamborghini has done more in building its image and reputation with car enthusiasts in every way possible
Wolfpack79 thanks for the suggestions looks like a pretty great game, correct me if I’m wrong but it seems to me there is not as much customizable options for the cars compared to need for speed.
:P that must be why in nfs 2015 you could not customize the Ferrari’s.

how do i get the Miura? i went to the launch event at Westfield Century and they said they didnt have the Pagani, Miura, and GTR???
I dig that they use realistic casting. Spectraflame is a nice touch considering the lack of real riders & metal/metal for the price(i get that its for track purposes, but still). Also introducing a new casting(miura) also forces some collector to buy it just to obtain the car.

I can understand that you don't care about the fantasy cars but they were right there on the table it would have taken you less then 20s to show the front of the boxes to the screen.

Super cool for hot wheels but total loss that its Apple only. Essentially its a neat aspect to see from a window and keep walking. Once it's open to android, then my interest for it will perk up.

@@unknwn0416 They will hit retailers later. I believe apple have timed exclusivity for a year or something since app is on IOS first.
The best thing to do is jump on the ones you want because these are gonna go like hot cakes and the ones you will want will be our of stock, almost like rlc, you snooze you lose. I was the first to purchace mine in Denver Colorado thanks to Johns lamley preview. So far i have scored big by beating all the scalpers and other collectors because of this channel. The only one i cant get my hands on is match box candy cars...
Very, very awesome! Although, since I'm a guy who's not into tracks, I would only collect the id Cars themselves.

This actually looks like a pretty refined product- I'm impressed. The Apple only thing is a shame though, and hope they can change that.

Really cool and I'm very excited to see new cars as they come out, and you can bet I'm going to start repainting and modifying them or better aerodynamics. Which is also going to be interesting, I wonder if they're are going to be very many people cheating the leaderboards by modifying their cars.

How do we buy these cars?
I see a problem with these being open in store like that is that people will get the app and just go scan the cars with out buying them unless there is something in the packaging that locks the cars out of the game until it's removed and scanned.
Gotta say, the Miura is just awesome.
There used to be a Lamborghini Miura casting in the old 100% Hot Wheels series. It was used twice.
Hot Wheels has already tried this. The back of the basic range cards had what was called a QR CODE. You could scan it with your phone or hand key the QR CODE numbers in.
It would then pull up your car, allow you to add it to your collection, and race it in a virtual racetrack online with friends. They stopped doing it about 2015 or 2016.
During that time the app, the QR scanner and site had constant issues. They were terrible at it. I still wish they’d just make simple app to track a collection and give estimated value. I’d actually pay for that. Funko Pop has been doing it for years for their figures so Hot Wheels needs to get with the program.

You don't scan these with your phone camera. There is a chip inside the car, and the track piece detects it the same way a hotel room door detects a key card. The device also records things like the top speed and number of laps for each individual car, and saves it either online or on the chip inside the car.
Ben Wangler I get how the chip works. The online identity it creates works the same way the old QR Code system worked and it was a mess. I just hope they do a better job this time around.

The cars are nicely done. The whole thing is way overpriced and should be sold everywhere. Mattel stock is worth between ten and eleven bucks a share which means they are desperate to get some sales. Hasbro is worth ten times more in the stock market. Mattel could go under or get taken over. They should sell these cars at a higher price and make many of them. Forget all the chips and the apple store crap.
U said the whole thing is overpriced, but you also said they should sell these car @ a higher price. I am not following, please explain.

Luis Recabarren ah, then you meant sell them at a lower price then. That makes more sense. Yea, $5 is a good price. $7 is pushing it a bit, maybe if the game was more fun. I just got my miura today and downloaded the app too. And as someone who’s played just about every mobile version of need for speed that ever came out, I gotta say i’m not impressed with the hw id game app.

They are adding Android compatibility and it will be available other than through apple in July.
All of those cars are realistic you can buy the Viper or Corvette with a partial race kit already added on (Corvette ZR1 and ZO6, or the Viper SRT10 ACR). The aerodynamic body part on the lower part of the front bumper is a front splitter, or a lip not a “front chin.”

I did not know why the chins was design like that. Now that you said it, it makes sense but I think knowing that will cause me not to want much from this line because I think it looks bad. And though they may plan on making many many more, it just looks bad to me. I got the Viper which I do not think looks too bad and I have the 2018 custom Mustang on the way which should have the adjustable front splitter like the non Id version.

The Lamborghini Miura P400 SV looks cool. Am i excited for these in general? Not really. Plus, the app is Apple only, so for now at least is useless for us having Adroid phones utilizing the car chips. In any case, thanks for the preview Lamley.

The fact that it's an apple store deal thing is a complete deal breaker.
With technology getting smaller and more reliable, I’d like to start seeing cars with working LED lights that can be powered buy little hearing aid batteries or even have some way to charge them.
Eh, nearest Apple store is 30 miles away, and that's through a lot of Friday traffic, so, nope. Not going just to find out they didn't get them or they're sold out.
