This brought tears to my eyes. That voice is killer. I have prayed for God to bring me peace. This past year the girl I'd love forever cheated, I then got cancer and almost died, now I'm fighting to see my little boy I had with her. He's my only reason to stay in this world anymore and taking him out of my life has just destroyed me. This song hit me on so many levels
I know this is strange but I’m a songwriter and I’ve written something that should hit very close to home for you. If you’ll give me your email I’ll share my song with you that if nothing else will let you see your not the only one brother. I would really like you to hear it, not for my sake, but for yours.
What's even better is I can say he's honestly the nicest dude. He used to play at a bar I worked at back in the day, and he was probably the only guy who came in to play music we never had any problems with. Tipped well, always made sure to be kind, and I never thought yodeling could be beautiful until I heard him do it. He's even better live if you can believe that. Point is, fantastic musician, way better person.
This is true country music. Fuck Blake Shelton and Toby Keith. He's not pandering or condescending to his audience, he's writing real, emotional songs. We need more country artists like him.
I think that you are a fan of country music. This is country music. Do you like it. No, you might not like top 40 “modern country“ music… It’s bullshit. It’s not country. But this is and you like it. Like you, I don’t like modern country. But I like this
The melody of this guys voice made me weep. The song randomly rolled into my playlist; I feel like I just had an out of body experience. I’ve listened to it like 10 times in a row and my body is still tingling…. WOW The second time he hit’s that “peace” note gave me ‘Raising Arizona’ vibes. One of my all time favorites.
Hey brother, saw you open last night for Charley Crockett and you put on quite a show. Please keep pursuing music. You are an inspiration to all of us who were never brave enough to get up on stage and put ourselves out there. Don’t forget that.
Saw Joshua Ray in Norway this week by pure chance. Now I can't stop listening to him. Amazing songwriter and people watcher. Come up with some funny observations about Norwegians that I haven't thought of before. Everyone was quiet at the concert because everyone wanted to hear the great lyrics. He really appreciated that, fantastic concert. He also took time afterwards to have a chat.
I first saw him on a local Dallas morning show and was really impressed. I couldn't get the lyrics out of my head on "Sexy After Dark" and started listening to his other songs. Like many say here, he's highly underrated. God bless you Joshua, bring your message!
This man’s voice pierced my soul when he held that note. Tears just rolled down my face. Just found out about him today. Found a gem 💎 but I think this song found me..
This song made me cry harder and deeper than any moment I've went through in my divorce, it was a great relief, and maybe a realization of why she left, because I've always felt like this
This might be the greatest opening to any country song nobody's ever heard! Wow. Why this isn't an instant classic is a mystery to me. And the video is absolutely terrific. WTF!
I love writing pain into my songs where strangers can hear and feel it...I can hear yours. Amazing voice and the ranges your throwing around ain't to be played with. I'll be picking my banjo to this for a week..lol
Undeniably one of the most powerful and beautifully painful country tunes-or any genre-written in a long time. Amazing lyrics, incredible voice. The fact that this guy isn't played on the radio is living proof that the "corporate masters" who run the business want to keep feeding us s**t.
Was lucky enough to see him at the Ryman with Wheeler Walker Jr. Was NOT expecting to walk away with some life changing music from this guy. Amazing work Joshua Ray Walker.
Just read about you in Texas Monthly and decided to listen to your music. Now I think I will listen to all I can on you tube. I am not into country although I do listen to it . You are writing about the truth many of have experienced.
Waitaminute... only 120,000 views in 2 yrs? What the hell... no way. *A song and performance this good should be in the tens of millions by now.* Further proof 'people' just listen to what radio, and streaming platforms, tell them to listen to.
Sept 2022: An aging L.A. punker stumbles across an article on the Grammy site and wow... these lyrics, and that delivery... and that long note... *BRAVO.* "...finish off this bottle, so it looks like a mistake..." damn...
Gotta be brutally honest here, the first thing about JRW that struck me was his size. And though this video is a bit cheesy, now I only see a very talented singer who hopefully has a real bright future in front of him. And the bridge in this song is just heavenly👌
I was going to bash this for what it is - safe, commercial music. It is measured and calculated by a machine in Nashville that turns it out one way, take it or leave it. But then I read through some of the comments and saw how much it meant to some people. That reminded me that music generally has three purposes: the artist to express himself and hopefully stop working his or her day job, the executives who take the risks, and then all the people like you and me who have absolutely nothing to do with the first two people other than listen to the song or move on to the next one. The point now is who cares if it commercialized if it helped you make it through the day then to you it is the most important song in the world. Just ignore the music snobs like me. Now excuse while I go listen to this large fellas next song, which by and large (no pun intended) is really just a continuation of this song and the one he recorded before it. They are pretty damn good too.
I'd stare at my reflection through bottles behind the bar I didn't know hate could feel this good behind the wheel of a car Might put this truck in neutral, let roll into the lake but first I'll finish off this bottle so it looks like a mistake Holy name strengthens the beast Be lucky if you're in one piece Holy name strengthens the beast Oh Lord, please give me peace I loved you from the get go You saved me from a funeral pyre I told you I loved you You called me a liar Yeah, I've carried fire and I've waded through a flood You dragged me on the wire, he bathed me in the blood Holy name strengthens the beast Be lucky if you're in one piece Holy name strengthens the beast Oh Lord, please give me peace How long? How long are you going to make me wait? How long? How long are you going to make me wait? How long? How long are you going to make me wait? How long? How long are you going to make me wait?
I'm so pissed off at all of the negative comments on that video. Josh is one of the most talented, and kindest people I've ever met. And that comment section was just full of toxic bullies. I'm glad there are more people who recognize his sheer talent.

You aren't alone. Never stop fighting!!
Please don't stop fighting. I promise the longer you stay here on earth the more you will discover reasons good enough to stay.
Hope you're hanging in there, brother!!
Keep your head up, King.
Yeah sex is cool, but have you ever pulled the song back to the beginning just for that o n e part to hit you again?
This is the realest song I have heard in a long, long time.
that's country for ya.
I'm not even a fan of country music but this is a masterpiece.

@@Sizeofabigbitch seeing him open for Charley Crockett at billy bobs here in Texas! I’ll take your word on that
This is true country music. Fuck Blake Shelton and Toby Keith. He's not pandering or condescending to his audience, he's writing real, emotional songs. We need more country artists like him.

I hate when people say that. Its just that you didnt know reak country ...ignorance
Most underrated artist in country music.
Not for long
Him and Mo Pitney imo
Charley Crockett
Rolling Stone named this album the 3rd best country album of 2020. He's starting to get the credit he deserves.
The melody of this guys voice made me weep. The song randomly rolled into my playlist; I feel like I just had an out of body experience. I’ve listened to it like 10 times in a row and my body is still tingling…. WOW

Please Lord give peace to a creature of chaos

Oh man, I can’t even imagine how amazing that show was. Charley put on one hell of a show, and I’m seeing JRW for the first time one July 1st!
What a kind thing to say!
Feel like this song was written just for me. Thank you Joshua Ray

One week later...still listen to it everyday
Beautiful song. Heard this guy on 95.3 the range here in Dallas. Haven't stopped looking for songs. Shame i didn't find him sooner! Keep it up!
Wow, Thank you and bless you Joshua. Great song and a beautiful voice. This one has me and will stick with me for a long while!!!!
Amazing song and killer voice. Acoustic guitar in the intro seems to have a short and subtle nod to Townes Van Zandt's Pancho and Lefty. Love it.
Oh dear lord this guy is talented as hell, praying for him to get more popular so he can come tour Canada
I first saw him on a local Dallas morning show and was really impressed. I couldn't get the lyrics out of my head on "Sexy After Dark" and started listening to his other songs. Like many say here, he's highly underrated. God bless you Joshua, bring your message!
Hands down. Joshua is the biggest country music star in history.
Ha!

The people who run radio stations aren't interested in elevating music as art, only music as a product or a cultural weapon.
Underrated he was opening for Charley Crocketta few years ago in flaggstaff az and the show got canceled, damn shame
Very intersting. What a beautyfull voice.
Goddamn this goddamn song, it's got roots growing dead center to my heart.
Reminds me of old 80s Dwight Yoakam or Alan Jackson.
Not a country fan at all, but I love Dwight's stuff. Probably why I like this guy so much.
Dwight yokum for sure!!! 😲😲😲
WTF is wrong with people? 27k views? This song is brilliant and stunning and it hits hard every time.
Beautiful ballad, Joshua. You have a real gift.
Someone here because of Grady Smith? I absolutely love this song❤
So glad I saw this man out in McKinney. So damn good. Ottoman Turks were fantastic as well.
Watching him perform this live gave me the chills. His voice and a guitar alone are magic to witness in person.
I can’t stop listening to this.
I love writing pain into my songs where strangers can hear and feel it...I can hear yours.
Amazing voice and the ranges your throwing around ain't to be played with.
I'll be picking my banjo to this for a week..lol
This song gives me chills!!! You have such a gift, don’t ever let anyone tell you other wise. A rare talent, bravo!!
I found this song exactly when I needed to.
Same brother. God Bless and good luck with what you're dealing with.

This song brings me to tears. I miss my mom dearly and it brings me close to her. Thanks, brother
1:08 that's John Pedigo, of Pedigo's Magic Pilsner. He's a great singer songwriter on par with JRW. Highly recommend listening to them.
One of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard
Was lucky enough to see him at the Ryman with Wheeler Walker Jr. Was NOT expecting to walk away with some life changing music from this guy. Amazing work Joshua Ray Walker.
I'm trying to spread this song to as many people as I can
One of the best songs of 2020.
Really good music like it, for sure.
Song hits deep in the soul.
I just now discovered this song and it has made me 100% a Joshua Ray Walker fan. Damn that kid has talent.
Never stop, man. Your songs hit me in the feels. This is so good.
Just read about you in Texas Monthly and decided to listen to your music. Now I think I will listen to all I can on you tube. I am not into country although I do listen to it . You are writing about the truth many of have experienced.
A refreshing, uber talented, young musician with a BRIGHT musical future~I'm ALL IN! 🤩
What talent, I hope to see this out of others. It reflects ME. I love hearing from people like myself. I cant wait to hear more!!!
Heartbreakingly beautiful
Holy shit! What a voice!! Wow
Damn I love this dude. Fell in love watching all of his bands yesterday in McKinney. Beautiful stuff brother.

Making me love country again.
Beautiful 🙏🏼

That was unexpectedly glorious.
Wow...just wow
Love this fellow's writing, singing, production, and his live stuff is just as great. Need David Lynch to hook up with him.
Can't wait to see him
My lord what a song
This is a great track, love it....but his rendition of "Voices" from Jam in the Van completely gutted me. I cry every time. Its cathartic.
So good!
It was the best country song, 2020
OOOOhhhh yes! This is GOOD!!!
Awesome
Got to see him at Stanley’s in Tyler. Just fantastic
I saw Joshua Ray Walker on The Tonight Show. My cousin was on the drums. I was surprised at how much I loved this. I am not a country fan.
Play this at my funeral man
Every time I hear this song I like it more. Still don't understand it completely but that don't matter , it's deep.
Killer !!!!
This was good
if you get a chance to go see JRW live do it, his voice will get right down into your bones
❤❤❤❤I love you thank you ❤❤❤

I’m sure you’re a real looker, try just focusing on the positives frenchie
@@jedrouse2356 I did.
His song Canyon deals specifically with his own personal body image .
I think I like it even more on 1.25 speed.
Ew
i agree

Be lucky if you're in one piece
Holy name strengthens the beast
Oh Lord, please give me peace
I loved you from the get go

Why is this video unlisted oh my god
Same for me. But he just turned 18 and is my best friend
Pray for me Joshua
Like, comment and subscribe this man is underrated and needs to be heard period.
Good job singing the US anthem at F1 race!

I don’t get this video though. It doesn’t fit what he’s saying. Beautiful song
Is that ole Sturgill Simpson counting all that $ in that one scene around 1:55 ?
