Lithography Printmaking part 3: Etching the Plate

Now we move on to the etching process which embeds the drawing into the aluminum plate. By using a combination of Gum Arabic and tannic acid, we can "train" the plate to hold the image even after we remove the drawing materials with a solvent. This part of the process is the most critical and can make or break a print, even though you often can't tell until you move to step 4- proofing the plate. But we'll talk about that in the next video!
