Awesome video! I enjoyed all the information shared about the area, and the walk throughs. The shot that you cut to several times was beautiful with the deer in the distance. It was hilarious when it almost came right on your camera and then realized it wasn’t alone! I was busy watching the squirrel on the downed tree and didn’t even realize at first that there was a deer in that shot as well. One of your best!
This was one of my favorites to edit. I had seen deer by our site every morning, so I setup the camera and let it go. We scared each other in that one shot. I'd get up in the mornings thinking I would go back to bed but 45 minutes later I was still standing there enjoying the view. It was a great place to reset my soul
I think this is my favorite of your videos that I've watched. This complex is now foremost for our camping plans for Colorado in 2022. (We're already planning for our six-week celebration trip for my wife's retirement.)
We were just up on the flat tops a couple of days ago. We were on the southern end coming up from Dotsero. This is our next, coming in from the northern end, looks more populated, but still amazing. Thanks for the video!
Coming from Dotsero is still on the to do list for us. Heading in from Meeker/Buford felt pretty remote. The Yampa side was beautiful but felt like we weren't far from town.
@@CampgroundRecon have fun! Quick tip, if you have the ability to air down it will definitely smooth out the ride. About five miles of the upper part of the shelf road is pretty slow, rocky and bumpy. Plenty of great dispersed camping and if you want a established campground, Deep Lake is really nice and $6 per night.
Thanks for your many reviews. I recently looked for a campgrounds on my trip way to Mesa Verde and went to your site and found the Rincon Campground plus a great review.. Made a reservation and all set. Thanks again for your help.
Enjoyed the extra footage of the trailheads and site walk arounds. What dates were you there, surprised that there were so many open sites. Agreed about mosquitoes, just as bad on the Yampa side. Great job on this one!
We were there July 14-20 (Tues-Sun). Anytime I saw somebody packing up, I got the camera ready to record the site as soon as they pulled out. It was about half full most of the time. It is a long drive for a first come first served site. I assume that is why it wasn't as crowded up there. Thanks for the feedback!
Are you looking at some off-road campers? I'm thinking I need something I can pull with the Jeep. We have a couple of Yampa area campgrounds coming this fall.
Site 6 - Tent would need to be in back of driveway. Too much slope otherwise. Site 7 - flat spot for tent is near the picnic table. It's a long drive to get there but still one of my favorite campsites of all time.
I believe there is one at Edwards Rest Area along Interstate 70 at Exit 163. There is one outside of Cutthroat Campground if you are planning on staying there.
So many to choose from. The morning view from this video was pretty amazing. Lake Irwin was another with spectacular views. @@CampgroundRecon thank you! I’m planning a big trip Colorado for my family, my wife, two kids and I! Your videos have been a great tool for me, but like you said there’s so many to choose from so it’s hard to pick one. You’ve shown a lot of places where I’m “babe this is where we’re gonna go!” And then I watch another and I tell her never mind we’re going here! And as I’m watching this video I’m about do the same haha

Sweet! I'm planning a long camping roadtrip circle around western Colorado this fall. SO MUCH TO SEE.
Excellent attention to detail. The other videos of the area are definitely on our watch list. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful tour- thank you for walking each site.
You're welcome! It helps when we stay there 5 nights and can record the sites as they empty during the week.
I loved your videos before but they are even better now. Really appreciate the walk through and other info about the area. Nice job!
I'll probably figure out this video editing thing by the time we get to campground #450. Then I'll have to start over :) So glad you enjoy them!
Great video, very informative, would love to see more like this with in depth walk arounds when possible.
I love to do the walking tour when it's not crowded.

The flattops are quite serene. Family has camped, backpacked various locations for decades. Most people unaware and that is just fine.
Yeah us too. Many backpack trips and also horse trips into backcountry. So pretty
Lovely place. Heading there tomorrow.
Lucky!!!!
Amazing place. Great job and info on Trappers lake - Flat Tops Wilderness. Safe travels.
It really is amazing. Wish I had recorded more footage to share.

@@CampgroundRecon you will love that 10 miles of shelf road😂😳 Once on top, wow it’s beautiful! Don’t miss the Deep Creek Overlook!

We'll have more walk-thrus in some of our future videos.

What a beautiful area
It really is. I can’t imagine what it looked like before the fire 18 years ago.
Great video! Looked at some campers today... might be getting one soon to go work in the Yampa valley region.
Are you looking at some off-road campers? I'm thinking I need something I can pull with the Jeep. We have a couple of Yampa area campgrounds coming this fall.
Campground Recon looked at used non-offroad, but going to look at off-road ones on Sunday.
Great videos! Just curious what model is that campstove you are using?
It's a Coleman Triton.
Do you remember if sites 6 or 7 had good flat spots for tent. Hard to tell for sure in video. Thanks!

I haven't been there yet !
It’s worth the long drive
Are their trailer dumps in Eagle or?
I believe there is one at Edwards Rest Area along Interstate 70 at Exit 163.

Is the road in ok for a small casita trailer?
It is! The camp hosts have a Casita. There were several larger trailers in a couple of the campgrounds.
When was this footage from?
July 2020
What the most scenic/favorite campground you’ve been to?
