  • Time lapse of a couple of minutes of the clouds rolling across the ridge between Mt. Sefton (on the left) and Aoraki/Mt. Cook (just to the right of the video). Aoraki/Mt. Cook is the highest peak in New Zealand at 12,218 feet. Mt. Sefton is the fourth highest at 10,338, and the ridge between them is quite high as well. The Tasman Sea is just 30 miles to the west, with 1,000+ miles to Australia. So the warm air crosses the sea and pounds right into this ridge, causing the moisture to collect and roll up over the ridge.
