- Much awaited by fans worldwide, Tokyo Marui has released their version of the NP7 several years after KWA / KSC first released their version. The KWA MP7 is a terrific gun and has a huge following, but Marui has had a couple more years to refine their design and had an opportunity to improve on the KWA version. So did they fulfill their objective? Not officially licensed by Umarex, we can't really call this by the real name MP7. Was it worth the wait and does it represent any improvement? Shut up I thought you have both guns, and if you actually do than your stupid because you should know kwa mp7 has hk licensing which allows it to make the EXACTLY LIKE THE REAL ONE while the tm doesn't have hk licensing so they can't make their np7 exactly like the real one or they would get sued. They don't even have fucking umarex licensing so tm can't even call their gun mp7 unlike kwa
I have no problem with either company. In my opinion, the only 3 main differences are that the KWA has the licensed trademarks for HK, has more fps and is approx $50- 100 cheaper(depending where you look). Other than some subtle aesthetic changes, that's it really. I own both. Accuracy wise, I gotta give it to TM. I did get tighter groupings with the TM, but that's doesn't mean that the KWA is horribly inaccurate by any means or is terrible in comparison. They both do the exact same things. They both sound great and feel very well made. TM and KWA are both terrific companies in my book. I love both guns. It all subjective as to which one performs better for whoever's personal preference.
I don't see the problem, they did a direct comparison between the two and the TM came out on top. Original ideas are being updated and improved all the time and that is how progress is made.
with the inner barrel built into the silencer (which is only for KWA) it will, hurt more, shoot farther, and more accurate, and the marui is fractionally more efficient to the point that it doesn't matter considering the KWA has a lot more advantages over the Marui which I have just listed
We didn't mean to trash KWA. The KWA one is very good too but it's already a couple years old. Marui has simply improved on the NP7 (and they had 2 years to do it). Why is there any surprise that the Marui one is better as a result?
Big round of applause for the camera man being biased. Listen closely on the 18m range test, he turned up the volume for the Marui test so it sounded like it was hitting harder, even though that doesn't make any sense.
Check out all the fanboys getting upset cause KWA don't have the best MP7 anymore.
Why bother? If something new comes along and it's better then surely that's better for everyone?

Having shot both of these guns and been able to compare them side by side the TM is much more asthetically apealing and it has signifigantly much more recoil. And it is true, the TM does have a much nicer hop up system than kwa has. But I will give kwa their due, they are much more reliable (except for the mp9s) and they are amazing in cold weather. I think that the choice between which is better should be left to preference and what you think is best for you as a player
Couldn't agree with you more. Tokyo Marui is by far the highest quality airsoft designer out there and simply because their guns aren't full metal, doesn't make them inferior; which seems to be the case in a lot of stigma against Marui. Almost all of their guns are fully licensed anyway.

I honestly think the KWA sounded a little cooler on the sound.. But I'll still get the TM if the price difference isn't very big.

I heard from somewhere before where HK / Umarex has actually got copyright on the silhouette of the guns, so it won't even matter if you made it FU7 and bright pink, it'd technically still be infringing it, but being in Japan, somehow they don't get affected too much, hence why they usually have nicer marking than the Taiwanese stuff.
Without getting too much into it. TM's internal parts are of a much higher quality than any of those you mentioned and much more fine tuned out of the factory. Stock, they're still some of the best airsoft replicas on the market externally and internally even if they're plastic outside. Also their hop up unit is top tier, there's no question about that.
The real mp7a1 gun's frame is made out of polymer as well
Laws in Japan prohibit the Marui gun from having too high a power level out of the box. KWA is made in Taiwan, where no such laws exist. However, our tests showed that the Marui shoots just as far as the KWA because the Marui has a much better hop-up system. Airsoft Surgeon is already working on upgrade parts which may give significant boost to the Marui's power.
We carry both models - both the TM and KWA. But frankly we really felt the Marui one was better. Clearly they targeted their development by enhancing the weaknesses of the KWA (which came out 2 years earlier). We still think the KWA is good...a true pioneer since they did this gun first. But with 2 years of extra time, Marui refined it further and came out with a slightly better gun. There isn't any surprise there. If Marui came out with a worse gun 2 years on, THAT would be a surprise.
Own both. TM version has better performance but somehow is more demanding on maintenance. KWA cannot compare with TM in terms of gas efficiency, full-auto consistency, and accuracy. Yet, it is very reliable and is constructed with beefier material. TM magazine tends to leak btw.
You can use the 134a gas or duster gas, and it'll shoot under 1joule, since it is a Tokyo marui gun
It's a good thing that it does. 350fps is the upper limit for full auto airsoftguns a lot of places.
H&K licensed the KWA MP7, which the Tokyo Marui NP7 doesn't have. Therefore, they can use the name MP7 when refering to the KWA gun. That means that H&K cannot actually sue them because they could/and were refering to the KWA version.
Exactly, it's sales. Also it is a fair comparison. What other points would you use to show how the KWA is better than the TM? Also c'mon, it's TM.
Even my "toys" worked quite well for the photos.The guy I worked with is a wizard with photoshop and he made the guns look more like real steel arms,not like plastic toys (which in fact, they are of course).Anybody with some expertise on real firearms will probably be able to see that the guns aren´t real, but I didn´t make the photos for firearms experts,but for fans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fps series and their community broadly appreciated our photos,using them as avatars or mod title screens.
If anything, the KWA magazine is easier to load. You conveniently forgot to mention that the spring can be locked at the bottom, freeing your hands for the load.
And if you want to go to a CQB field that had an FPS limit of 350, you can get a CQB bolt for the KWA, but you can't get a bolt that will make the np7 shoot harder

i had to buy the cqb bolt for the kwa mp7 because its too powerful out of the box for most cqb places. considering its a cqb oriented gun youd think the standard bolt would be the cqb and the powerful bolt would be the option. seems like a scheme to sell more stuff
You can load BB's from both the top and the middle for the Marui.
KWA is good too. In our tests, the KWA did not outshoot the Marui though...and the groupings on the Marui were slightly better.

As I said before, it depends on one´s perspective. If you´re a "serious" airsoft enthusiast, who´s taking part in skirms, etc., then TM might not be the right choice. I came to airsoft guns, because I needed some guns for fotoshootings, not bacause I wanted to skirm. Later I started to do indoor plinking as well, still with several cheap AEGs and a single KWC spring 1991A1, which is actually a decent spring gun for its price. My TM Mac-11 EBB IS a toy, but it´s the best "toy airsoft gun" I have.

The KWA is the KSC well-upgraded, with **** Umarex H&K trademarks. I do want to see the TM. I love TM design and performance... the finish on their guns, though, especially over time, is a different story. They usually look great out of the box, but the plastic TM uses gets shiny easily, from the natural oil from your hands or silicone oil from maintenance. I'm not too sure if the MP7 will be any different. The newer WE copies of their guns use better plastics/polymers.
Heavier BBs are more accurate since they are less affected by wind. Proven by all my GBBR as long as you have the correct hop up and the right FPS for the BB weight your using. FPS is not an issue where I play. I do agree TM has the best STOCK hop up for 0.20 bbs, a weight Im not interested in using.
That is correct - this gun is not licensed by Umarex yet so it can't be called an MP7 legally.
I know it's a 9-year-old video but when are you going to change the title to "MP7", not "NP7"

Sounds: You don't need or want a loud selector, and the switch doesn't move that much at all. There seems to be a lack of gas in the KWA mag, but I like the deeper sound.
Aesthetics: KWA looks good, and the real one's metal does not look like that of the TM. The markings on the real one are bright and bold. The stock barely wobbles. He shakes the whole gun. Tighten the stock screws. I'd never use the different positions on the stock. The real bolt doesn't go that far back. 400(good hop-up)>280
The KWA one is just fine. This review needs to be re done cause KWA is amazing. You guys are just bias.

Drew Nelson kwa is not just fine, it's pretty amazed me with the size of this gun. it's good enough to kick some others ass without upgrade. But after I upgraded the PDI inner barrel and also the new hop up. you really can't believe what is the result. I can hit the same target compare to the standard M4A1 and AK47.
Thanks man, I don't know how to upgrade tho. But yeah I've gotten kills at 200 feet with .20's it took a couple shots but it works.
Drew Nelson u can try 0.28 or even 0.3 without any upgrades. this little gun will be kicked ass just upgrade the hop up. BTW, I'm living in Taiwan so I can take my gun to the local gun store and ask for upgrade and maintenance.

Recently I bought my first "real" airsoft gun, with is still rather cheap. It´s a Umarex USP Match NBB and of course I do now realize the difference, between my "toys" and this gun, which is definetely NOT a toy, but rather a piece of sports equipment. I already plan to obtain another pistol, maybe a GBB gun for a bit more money. To me TM guns are still pretty "attractive", though I know, there are much better ones.

the inner barrel actually reduces accuracy and generally doesn't live up to thge hype, i have had 3 separate kwa mp7s and used the silencer and it only give you a fps boost but thats it.
I like KWA's but I've only ever bought TM's. I wanna get a KWA pistol soon.
Red wolf doesnt even sell the KWA mp7 so of course their going to make the TM one sound a lot better then it really is.

James Adam umarex mp7 is shit the good gun is umarex mp7 OEM kwa, the only reason it's called umarex mp7 OEM kwa is because umarex has licensed the name mp7 so if kwa wants to call it mp7 they need to have umarex in the name
Spring's lock is easy to spot even on full loads. There's a half-a-BB gap on the lips, and the top BB is loose. Nothing to blame on the magazine when it's an operator's error.
The RW video shows quite a clumsy loading action, and while I agree the Marui is probably the better platform, the bias is evident.
I understand the new gun has to sell, but viewers are not that stupid.

I completely agree... I owned both the KWA GBB version as well as the TM AEP MP7's and the KWA blew TM out of the water there...
for Elliot Thomas : is the hop up system setting and the accuracy really that different from the 2 guns? you see lot of improvement over precision? since you are one of the few that have shot both please !! spend more word on that! it may be lot precious
Yeah the TM is better, but it does costs around 100$ more, and can only be purchased from redwolf or ehobbyasia (50$ shipping if you live in US)
Unfortunately our gun stand was "borrowed" by someone else during the time of shooting so we had to make do with some steady hands...
Also the tokyo marui would be better for indoor cqb fields that require guns be under 350 fps

your right, but the point is is that the real MP7 isn't made of full metal. and i said the Marui had the 3 point adjustable stock. but well guess what, i own a KWA MP7 too and the fire selector switch is the other goodies on the gun are made of high-quality material. And the KWA Isn't made of ABS. i'm just saying that the KWA company makes their guns for government training so they have to made reliably and durable.

a good friend of mine has a real mp7 which i had the priviledge to shoot, i own a kwa mp7 and i dont know about the marui but the kwa was very similar in feeling
Tokyo Marui isn't a bad company and your right they did pretty much start airsoft, but KWA uses stronger materials more reliable parts than tokyo marui. KWA isn't guns arent really used for sport airsoft they are used for training weapons so they have to be strong and durable but tokyo marui is used for japanese people to shoot each other with toy guns. KWA is a high quality company and tokyo marui is a medium quality company.
That np7 definitely looks more realistic than the official mp7 version, almost as realistic as my n4 and ka47!

i dont have any experience with these two companies, but i think the tm is overall better. go figure, it is newer, meaning newer technology. for any who baught the kwa, you can still say you got it for less money, and you still have a good gun, with a higher fps.

Something I don't like at all personnaly. When you load entirely the magazine, it's hard to know if the spring is released or not. Which makes you shoot a few bb's, then dry firing because the spring is still locked.
The KWA mp7 has to say Cal. 6mm BB because of US law and they market it mainly for the US.
Now, how do these people get the most awesome/fantastic/interesting/amazing/etc job ever? (in my opinion) i NEED a job like this. people would kill for this type of job. this is the best job ever by my standards.
I don't always rock MP7, but when I do. I use the TM.
how they closely show both guns and give you statements backed up with the evidence in the photo?

they forgot the KWA's suppresor for the mp7 which is called the power up suppressor which increases the fps by roughly 100fps
Right, because so many fields let you use a 550 FPS CQB gun.

Kwa shoot more precise with 400 fps and 0.30? no. Farther? yes. But since here we have 1j restriction is not even an option, and kwa with low power bolt shoot at 1j too.
Tm is more precise with 0.25 0.20 and even 0.30. TM Kick is 5 time harder.
About finishing i really prefer TM, but dont dislike KWA.
Not a tm fan but apart from little imperfection like the nozzle and the recoil spring that seems a bit loose this is a masterpiece.
Time will tell if is durable.
My vote to TM.
The TM version is officially called the NP7 just so you know.
'MP7' is trade marked by H&K. Umarex/KWA paid H&K to use the name 'MP7'
It seems like when they compare anything with a TM, nothing can stack up to it. But, this is an airsoft store just like how evike or ASGI will rave about a certain brand, and usually only that brand.
sound. TM>KWA Aesthetics TM>KWA Performance Slight edge to TM if you run it with GG. fairly cut and dry in my opinion. Question is, can i put an angry gun extension on the TM.
t.m makes good stuff and so does kwa but the pricing for t.m is some times a bit high but both are really good companys
trades and markings are not a big deal to me, but it is to some. Thats why some ppl will pay more for different markings and looks on their airsoft guns.

The KWA has a silencer that you can buy that has an inner barrel, making the gun more accurate, sound better, shoot farther, and shoot at 450 FPS
Kwa were licensed to use the name mp7 but tm weren't so had to rename it

just got the we new wave rice mp7 I'm glad I waited for this one 1.1 scale and shoots hard and fast and good accuracy and cheap mags
TM invented the gearbox. That company made airsoft what it is today. They still make the most innovative products on the market today. They didn't just write the fucking book, they're still adding chapters.
yes but in 2009 they moved their taiwanese office to the US and kept their HK office in asia, so you might sya that KWA is somewhat american (kinda)

he had the KWA farther away when he did the sound test in the beginning and the KWA looks nothing like what he had in the test and i shot the real steel MP7 and it has thick fire selector like the KWA and plus if you want a CQB MP7 just buy the CQB bolt it will still cost less than the TM and he forgot to mention that being able to load the bbs in the middle that it will me much easier for the bbs to fall out and he took more time to aim with the TM
It's just to make you buy the TM instead of the KWA. That's all it is. They're both good guns.
KSC don't have that Cal. 6mm bb thing, why are you comparing the Japanese version of a product against another product in the American version? Why not KSC?
Notice how they didnt compare fire rates because the kwa mp7 probably is almost double the marui fire rate. When they wobble the stock they are moving the whole gun they should have the gun on a base then wobble the stock.why is it when i buy guns from redwolf they dont seem as good as redwolf reviewed them
Well... My KWA (KSC) one have the real markings on both sides, as he fails to show that the TM say Marui Japan on the right side.
Also, the rails and stock came with a mat, almost anodized, finish.
Powervise the KWA firers up to 2.0J (140m/s @ 0.2g) changing the rocketvalve and using RedGas, offering you +50 meter range.
Or, using another rocketvalve the gun drops to 1.0J for CQB.
Changing the buffer alters the rate of fire, from 18-19rps up to 25-27 rps, making the TM sound painfully slow.
they carry both guns though...so why would they only push one? I assume they would be happy selling either, right?
I've owned the tm mp7 for some time now, i've only found 2 annoyance, the bolt travel seems a bit weak when you charge the gun, it's like the spring is a tad weaker than it should be,also the bolt catch function is temperamental, so when the bolt is locked back and i reload sometimes the bolt will slam and chamber a round without me powerstroking or hitting the bolt catch. which i think is annoying. other than that this gun is crazily accurate and has never jammed on me.
